ColourPop Dr. M Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “deep blackened green.” It’s a cool-toned, green-leaning teal with very, very subtle emerald green pearl. It’s such a cool color, and I love that it applied with fully opaque, even color, but it emphasizes the texture/lines of the natural lip tremendously in a way that makes them appear raisin-like. Despite this, it didn’t seem to “crack” when I smiled, but it was a little more uncomfortable to wear (I felt more aware of it on than other shades in the range, even for liquid lipstick). It wore for nine hours and was moderately drying after five hours of wear.
Anastasia Insomniac (P, $20.00) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). Illamasqua Apocalips (P, $24.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (80% similar). Makeup Geek Twerk (LE, $12.00) is darker, more muted (85% similar). Anastasia Requiem (P, $20.00) is more shimmery, darker, more muted (80% similar). MAC Young Attitude (P, $21.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Chlorophyll (DC, $18.00) is lighter, warmer, glossier (80% similar). MAC Show and Teal (LE, $19.00) is lighter, cooler (80% similar). Fenty Beauty Turks and Caicos (P, $18.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (80% similar). Ciate Siren (P, $19.00) is more shimmery, cooler (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

ColourPop Kapow Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “muted greey taupe.” It’s a medium-dark, purpled taupe with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. This was less of a flat matte finish and more of your traditional matte finish, and this shade had a much longer drying time compared to a lot of the range, so you’ll need to be careful as it dries down to avoid pressing your lips together or else the color will lift/flake off where the lips meet. I had very slight “cracking” with this shade after an hour and a half of wear. It was fairly comfortable to wear until four hours, where it felt a bit drying,a nd it lasted for seven hours. Maybelline Gone Greige (DC, $7.49) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). Anastasia Grim (P, $20.00) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). Makeup Geek Misfit (P, $12.00) is cooler (85% similar). MAC Simply Smoked (P, $21.00) is more muted (85% similar). MAC Deep Rooted (P, $19.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Sebastian (DC, $18.00) is lighter, more muted, glossier (85% similar). Maybelline Concrete Jungle (P, $7.49) is cooler (80% similar). MAC Gwendolyn (LE, $19.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Anastasia Resin (P, $18.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). ColourPop Trap (DC, $6.50) is lighter, cooler (80% similar). Formula Summary: ColourPop Ultra Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a long-wearing, pigmented lipstick that starts off glossy and dries down quickly to that super flat matte finish. They have minimal transfer with some of the lighter shades having almost none for the first few hours of wear, but any time you’ve had a meal, they lose that transfer-resistant quality to a noticeable degree. They tend to wear anywhere from six to ten hours with darker shades maintaining better color coverage and wear over a longer period of time. Some shades get a little drying about two-thirds to three-fourths through the wear, while a few shades have been fairly non-drying even many hours into wear. They fade away evenly with most color loss occurring from the center of the lips if eating a more oil-based meal but the majority of color survives a meal. Reapplication has been hit or miss and tends to depend on how well it wore away and how easily the shade applies normally, but reapplication tends to emphasize the lip’s natural texture significantly compared to initial application and gives lips a very wrinkled, dried-up look. I’ve layered gloss on top of some shades with moderate success, though it will obviously lose the matte finish and will transfer and I’ll get tiny flakes where the matte lip color has lifted by mixing with gloss but has been pretty minimal. The formula had no discernible taste or scent.

For Dr. M, I thought you go for a matching teal eyeliner 🙂 Wow, Kapow looks like Kylie Jenner lips, which I love, but it’s sold out. I hope they re-stock. I wasn’t going to get any of these, but that one is tempting me…

Wow, such pretty and weird shades, I’d like to try some on in a lipstick formula, if any was available here. I love blue lips though i’d be too shy to wear them out…people never wear very dark lips here, let alone blue/green 🙁 I’d wear something reminescent of Kapow, though 😀 I like the Kylie trend (minus the overlined/injected lips) because neutrals are beautiful.

These 2 shades are just flat-out gorgeous! I love teal EVERYTHING as it is, but Dr. M is divine! Wouldn’t be able to wear it out though, but I sure as heck would in my home, LoL. Kapow is so close to Sebastian it seems, so because of its drying issues, I’ll wait to see how the new OCC Sebastian reviews. But I must have BOTH!

It’s odd, Kapow looks nothing like that on me. Its a dark brown on my lips and hand.
Looks just like your swatch in the tube though. Slightly disappointing cause your swatch is what I was looking for but the brown looks nice as well.

A smidge, depending on how dark you’d go with your definition of taupe. But nothing like your swatch at all.

Ends up even darker on my lips somehow. /shrug
Luckily for me, I’m weird and wear dark brown, black, grey, red, blues all the time so this isn’t out of my comfort zone. But if I had bought it only wanting to wear it at the shade yours is I would be mad.
Interestingly enough OCC’s Sebastian does near the same thing, just not as dark, unless I apply it SUPER heavy. Pure brown, no grey, but in that case only on my lips. Hand is mostly true to tube.

i have both of these & love them .

i actually wore kapow today . it’s a bit too grey on its own for me , so i paired it with nyx’s prune lip pencil & wet ‘n wild’s ‘bordeaux boulevard’ lipstick to make it more purple toned .

also , kapow in the tube is deceiving . it definitely dries down significantly darker .

i love that dr. m has hidden shimmer , which makes it pretty unique . so glad i finally found a great shade of green . nyx’s risque was too metallic , emollient & not as dark as i wanted .

I LOVE these colors!!!! But the formula sounds like they made it worse! From the photos they looked so promising and not as drying as the first batch of shades (the 26 that sold out originally), but they don’t sound easy to wear. I’ve been waffling on these for so long. I keep *almost* buying them then second guessing it. From videos I’ve watched it sounds like OFRA might make a more comfortable liquid lipstick than what’s currently out there (and they have some amazing unique colors too) I never hear anyone on Temptalia talk about them though. Any thoughts about those? Anyone?

Congrats to all who easily can buy Colour Pop!
I sit here, trying to imagine how I’d look in both of these gorgeous colours. I loke green lipstics, but have until now not seen one I really, really want.
Kapow is interesting, I do think I’d be a bit zomvie like wearing it, though.
I love that you review the “unconventionals”, Christine. So much fun!
