Double Entendre

ColourPop Double Entendre 12-Pan Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($16.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a warm, neutral palette with a mix of shimmers and mattes. For some, this is territory well-covered, but for those who have not yet found the right warm-toned palette or just haven’t indulged yet, this might be worth a look-see. The majority of the shades were pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing, so it was easy to work with and could certainly be someone’s perfect, go-to everyday palette, I’m sure.

Locked and Loaded

Locked and Loaded is a buttery yellow with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. It had fantastic color payoff that applied well to bare skin. The texture was smooth, velvety, and substantial enough to retain its opacity but was still blendable along the edges without the aid of primer. This shade wore well for eight hours on me.

FURTHER READING: Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent).

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Uninhibited

Uninhibited is a bright, medium copper with warm, orange undertones and a metallic finish. It had full color coverage in a single pass, and the color applied evenly and smoothly on my bare lid. If one prefers a really shiny, smooth finish, I would recommend applying this shade with a dampened brush. The texture was soft, lightly creamy, and blendable overall. It stayed on well for just over eight hours on me.

Hot Bod

Hot Bod is a medium-dark, chocolaty brown with warm, reddish undertones and flecks of gold sparkle over a more matte finish. The eyeshadow had fantastic pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly on the lid, and I had no trouble diffusing the edges for a seamless gradient. The texture was velvety to the touch and soft without being powdery. It wore well for almost nine hours but had a touch of fallout.

Hard is a medium-dark, rusty brown with warm, red undertones and a matte finish. Keep It PG

Keep It PG is a light-medium gold with warm, orange undertones and a metallic finish. The consistency was a bit more loosely pressed, and with the larger sparkles in it, made this easiest to use with a dampened brush, which resulted in more opaque, even coverage that looked better on the lid. On its own (dry), it applied somewhat unevenly and was harder to build up without getting a lot of fallout. It wore well for seven and a half hours and had some fallout when worn on its own and applied dry.

Great quality, even though CP has done these shades to death! Having Yes, Please and All I See Is Magic, I believe I’m covered. But their newest one (I forgot its name!), appears to be a nice, inexpensive dupe for UD Naked Heat or Tarte Toasted (great since I’ve cancelled Tarte until they *shape* up). That one has me far more tempted than this one!

So since warm neutrals are my foundation as it were, this goes on my next Colourpop order. Nice to have all in one place and as always with CP, a very accessible price point.

Hi Christine,
How would you compare the quality/color selection of this palette to Viseart Warm Mattes (which I’ve been dithering about for too many months now)?
You’ve given it such high marks, I’m wondering if I might actually be able to get just about the same thing for an amazing savings, compared to Viseart….
Thanks much in advance.

Loving this color lots and another previous one that is also beautiful but forgot it’s name. Thinking to choose one for my daughter’s birthday coming in February.

These shades are nice neutrals and all, but can we talk about how the packaging is IDENTICAL to the I Think I Love You palette? Why in the world wouldn’t they at least make it a different color but with the same pattern? Or are they assuming someone wouldn’t buy both because the shades are 80% similar?

Please dear lord no more peach! Or peachy tans. Some of them remind me of foundation colors in the 80’s. (which is why I never wore it). These peach and coral colors look particularly awful on my sallow/olive skin. Plus I feel like we have been seeing these same palettes for an eternity. Give us something unique! Even if it’s weird. I want different.

I have this palette and am enjoying it. I especially like palettes like this that don’t have too many dark shadows since I use those mostly as a liner only or just sparingly.

This was the first and only Color Pop product I purchased. I’m so blown away by the quality of this palette considering what I paid for It. I want to try more of their palettes but I don’t need anymore shadows so I’ll have to hold off.

Honestly this is a great alternative to many of those high-end warm neutral palettes. I don’t normally wear many neutral shadows (and would never pay a high-end price for a neutral palette) but I ordered this on a whim and I really really like it. I’ve received many compliments on my makeup when I’ve worn the foiled copper, gold and bronze colors from this palette and it’s easy to quickly put a look together with it.
