ColourPop Chubby Bunny & Maui Wowie Just a Tint Lippie Tints Reviews & Swatches
Chubby Bunny
ColourPop Chubby Bunny Just a Tint Lippie Tint ($7.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium pink with subtle, cool blue undertones and a natural sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single stroke, which applied fairly evenly across my lips, but this particular shade didn’t seem as forgiving of lip texture/lip lines, though it wasn’t that noticeable in person. The texture was lightweight, balmy without being too slippery, and comfortable to apply and to wear. It wore well for four hours and was hydrating while worn.

Formula Overview
$7.00/0.07 oz. - $100.00 Per Ounce
The formula is described as "the perfection sheer wash of colour in the comfiest, lightweight, super moisturizing formula." Here's the big takeaway... they are not that sheer; they're not a wash of color. They have medium to semi-opaque, buildable coverage with a few shades being more true medium in coverage; I just wouldn't say they're sheer nor just a wash. That medium to semi-opaque level of coverage still allows for some translucency, which gives the color a lighter look that's more like a stain.
The texture was creamy, thin, lightweight, and balm-like; I'd actually say it felt like a gel-like balm because it had the cushion-like slip of a lip balm but had the smoothing prowess of more gel-based formulas. The most impressive aspect of the formula was how little the colors sank into my lip lines and how forgiving they were with imperfections in lip texture. The wear time varied from two and a half to four hours on me, and the formula was lightly hydrating over time. They have a sweet, fruity scent (passionfruit per their website) but no discernible taste.

Maui Wowie
ColourPop Maui Wowie Just a Tint Lippie Tint ($7.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a brighter, medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had medium pigmentation in one layer, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging. The texture was lightweight, thin without being clingy, and balm-like, so it felt emollient and creamy going on but wasn’t too slippery during wear. There was a bit of product that sank into my deeper lip lines, but it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. It lasted nicely for four and a half hours on me and was moisturizing over time.

I think that Clinique has some great dupes for this ColourPop range. Clinique’s Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Chunky Cherry might be a dupe for CP Maui Wowie.
I love this type of formula, and have tried both Clinique and Colourpop. I think these are more like the Clinique Chubby Stick Intense formula—more pigmentation than the original Chubby Sticks. On me, the Chubby Stick Intense formula is a little longer wearing. But I like the Colourpop price, and scent (which is passion fruit, or maybe guava) much better!
But colourpop’s price point can’t be beat and I have both of these and I love how they perform on me and they smell amazing!! I also appreciate that they are vegan and cruelty free and Clinique isn’t.
The owners of CP inherited a makeup factory and this is a considerable factor that keeps the costs low. Also, they don’t have a presence all over the world and they pulled from Sephora’s website, unfortunately. I loved the idea to find their products online, on Sephora Canada (it was two years ago, I think), but it was short-lived. Maybe they will change their mind in the future.
I kinda knew that Chubby Bunny would be a fail despite its adorable name. Those very cool pinks often are when they are as light as this one is or lighter.
Maui Wowie on the other hand? Is blowing up my skirt! Wish I had this one today, because it just feels like something perfect for such a scorcher of a day.
I ended up picking up Chubby Bunny! I just love the name…haha.
I love the looks of Chubby Bunny, it just looks perfect in the photos. When I wear Urban Decay’s Obsessed I always sheer it down by putting balm underneath, so this might be a one-step alternative to that.
Maui Wowie is really pretty and popsicle-stain looking.
I think stealing UD’s Maui Wowie name (the most heartbreakingly disappointing e/s ever for me) is a bit “unoriginal” but I guess nothing’s original any more and all’s fair in love and drug names!
It’s, uh… haha, Maui Wowie is a strain of marijuana that’s apparently been around forever. I mean, considering how many thousands of product names there are in the world, and how different this product is from the Urban Decay product, I think it’s safe to say they weren’t “stealing” it!
I know this; it’s why I said “in love and drug names” (a trend I was hoping was starting to wane, but sadly, it seems not).
