Coloured Raine Berry Cute Mini Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Berry Cute
Coloured Raine Berry Cute Mini Eyeshadow Palette ($36.00 for 0.32 oz.) includes six eyeshadows with a mix of mattes and shimmers. I’ve been a fan of Coloured Raine’s eyeshadows in the past, but I wasn’t as enamored with the formula they have here, or perhaps, it is the pairing of thinner, more powdery mattes with very dense, almost cream-like shimmers that just don’t combine that well. I struggled to use to get the shades to come together decently–normally with enough effort and finagling, I can get to decent but not with this one.

Pinkleberry
Pinkleberry is a light-medium pink with warmer, golden shimmer and a metallic finish. The texture was denser and almost cream-like, which also meant it was thicker and tended to work best with flat, synthetic brushes and a heavier hand. It applied evenly to bare skin but wasn’t as blendable as I expected (along the edges). The eyeshadow wore well for eight hours on me.

Formula Overview

2022 Formula: The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented" and "blendable" with a "butterly smooth" feel. The majority of the matte eyeshadows were quite pigmented, while some of the shimmers were overly emollient, which resulted in sheerer and/or uneven coverage.
The matte eyeshadows have a bit of dryness to them, though they were pigmented and fairly blendable, but they tended to apply best over an eyeshadow primer, which ensured a better base for them to adhere to. The shimmer eyeshadows were best applied with fingertips or a flat, firm (and sometimes dampened) brush and pressed/patted into place, then lightly blended.
I did not love the two finishes paired together as the matte finish was thinner and more powdery compared to the thicker, denser shimmers, so the shimmers often "erased" the matte eyeshadows when blended out.
The formula was different than the brand's original single pan formula that they originally debuted with, and I preferred their original formula overall, though the new one is decent, just not as foolproof to work with.
Original formula review: The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented, long-lasting, and blendable" and come in a variety of finishes. Most their eyeshadows are semi-opaque to opaque with a smooth, blendable textures that are easy to use and apply well to bare skin. The shimmers are slightly dense and creamier to the touch compared to the mattes, which aren't thin but don't have the same amount of slip. They tend to wear between eight and nine hours on me.

Purpleberry
Purpleberry is a muted, medium mauve with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer, buildable color coverage with a soft, dusty texture (part of the reason why it was sheerer). It blended out nicely and stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me.

Platinumberry
Platinumberry is a dark, purplish taupe with cooler undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had opaque color payoff in a single layer, which was prone to having slightly ragged edges if I was not very careful about layering and placement as the eyeshadow was denser and a bit thicker on the lid. It wore well for eight hours on me.

Kissberry
Kissberry is a muted, medium-dark burnt orange with warm, red undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation with a soft, somewhat powdery texture that kicked up a fair amount of excess product in the pan, so you’ll want to tap away excess and do eyes before base makeup with this shade. It blended out fairly well and lasted for eight hours on me.

Pomeberry
Pomeberry is a bright, medium-dark magenta purple with warm, pink undertones and a metallic finish. The texture was very dense and firmer where it was difficult to pickup and apply with anything but fingertips, though I found that a lot of the color stuck to my fingertips rather than transferring to my lid with fingertip application! It was a challenge to blend and diffuse this sahde as well. On me, it started to crease on my eyelid after seven hours of wear.

Loveberry
Loveberry is a dark, reddish plum with subtle, warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a drier, almost grainy texture that was harder to blend and diffuse on the skin. I found that the more I blended, the less adhered to the area, which is why my crease area looks somewhat patchy in the testing photo. It lasted for eight hours on me.

I purchased this one and the Lovelies palette while they were on sale for $27 a piece and I’ve not played in this one yet because I don’t know if I want to keep it. The colors are really beautiful but this just doesn’t speak to me the way the Lovelies palette does. I’ll probably use it as a Christmas gift for someone. I like Lovelies a lot. I played with it yesterday a little after work and it seemed to work okay without primer, which makes me hopeful b/c I always use primer.
What is up with brands? They don’t seem to have any quality control. I love my Queen of Hearts palette and find the quality of the shadows to be some of the best I have ever used and then this. Why would brands mess with their formula when it was perfect to begin with? Disappointing. Having said that your eye look doesn’t look like you struggled at all. I trust that you did but it turned out stunning. Super beautiful.
I came so close to getting this one when it was on sale. But I’m always wary of purples. At least now I know I was right to wait for your review.
This is pretty sad. But, you saved me from my acquisitive urges. Duped except one, so no great loss. It’s always a let down, when a co can do so much better, whether you want/ed it, or not..
A very nice mix of shades that made a beautiful eye look. It’s too bad they didn’t perform better.
What a shame that this cute little palette is NO Queen Of Hearts. I was hoping for this one to do well, as it *could* have been useful for an on-the-fly palette. That one deep burgundy matte shade applys horribly, yikes.
I couldn’t get a full look out of this, but I really love the shades in it as acent shades!
I’ve been really enjoying this one so far! But I have to agree that the formula doesn’t quite hold up to the QoH palette. I wouldn’t want to wear any of these without a primer, and pat a glitter glue on top of the rest of my shadows for the shimmer shades. I think people who love shimmer/glitter will like this more than people who lean more towards mattes.
Pretty shades, but there are lots out there that are better than this offering. The Kissberry shade seems out of place here too.
Once again, a gorgeous eye look Christine.
I feel like I never find a Matte dark blend able brand. ?
Have you tried Viseart or Sydney Grace (formerly Feather River Body)? Both have fabulous mattes. If I had to choose I’d say Viseart wins for blendability but Sydney Grace has single pans so it’s easier to pick & choose what you want, & they are still REALLY great IMO, blendability included. They have their own site & also sell on etsy, & they will likely have some sort of sale this coming week. Hope that helps!
I am only attracted to the Pomeberry color but the MUG dupe looks better so this one is a pass for me.
As weird as it sounds, the pink backing of this palette really throws me off! At first glance, I was thinking ‘eh’ because of the colors, but then I realized I really liked the colors but I was focusing on the pink background!!
