Cola Pop

Clinique Cola Pop Pop Lip Colour + Primer Lipstick ($19.50 for 0.13 oz.) is a medium-dark, reddened plum with muted, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging. The consistency was lightly creamy, lightweight without being too thin, and didn’t slide around during wear. I did not feel like it had the “smoothing primer” properties promised, as my lip lines were still visible, and there was a touch of product that sank into them (more noticeable along the lower lip, near the inner portion of my lip). It wore well for five and a half hours and was hydrating over time.

Formula Overview

$19.50/0.13 oz. - $150.00 Per Ounce

The formula is described as having "rich color" with a "smoothing primer" that "keeps lips comfortably moisturized." Most of the shades had semi-opaque to opaque color coverage in a single layer, and the shades that were a bit weaker were somewhat buildable. The deeper shades tended to perform the best, while a few of the lighter shades settled slightly into lip lines (not too noticeable, or not at all, in person).

Some shades were more smoothing than others, so I think the "smoothing primer" claim was the weakest and wasn't always met. The texture was lightweight, lightly creamy without being heavy or too slippery, and didn't tug during application. The formula was comfortable and hydrating while worn, and they lasted between four and six hours. There didn't seem to be any scent or taste.

Raspberry Pop

Clinique Raspberry Pop Pop Lip Colour + Primer Lipstick ($19.50 for 0.13 oz.) is a medium-dark raspberry pink with subtle, cool undertones and barley-there pearl paired with a cream finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single stroke, which applied without tugging and delivered even coverage.

The texture was lightly creamy, smooth, and lightweight, so it was comfortable to apply and to wear. It had enough slip to go on easily but didn’t slide around, so feathering wasn’t an issue for me. It was very subtly “smoothing” of my deeper lip lines. It wore well for six hours, left a faint stain behind, and felt moisturizing while worn.

I’m so glad to have Raspberry Pop in the swatch database now, because I’m always tempted by those shades, and I already have it. Luckily I passed on Aubergine and Beetroot when I placed last week’s Bite order!

Raspberry Pop needs to be in my collection. Both are beautiful, but I have used up pretty much all of my cool toned bright pinks and am craving another one that is in bullet form so between the two that is the one I’m going to pick up. These look so comfortable to wear and I personally love a stain left behind. It isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but it is something I prefer in my lipsticks.

Unfortunately, the deeper shades of the Clinique Pop Lipstick, including Raspberry Pop, emphasize my deep lip lines. So I’d steer clear of them if you are “of a certain age” and/or have deep lip creases. However, Plum Pop does not pose this problem for me and is one of my favorites.

I love the way your gorgeous Golden Mink eye look goes with so many lipstick shades, Christine. It’s inspiring me to dig it up so I can try it with all my new Lisa Eldridge lippies.
Also, I wish you could do makeup tutorials, even just e/s tutorials. Even just once a month ?I know you’ve already got a massive pile of work but I feel like it would be a huge hit. Plus I selfishly just want to see how you do this!

I’ve shown how to do this in the past – it is the same technique, just different colors – nothing special! 🙂 https://www.temptalia.com/eye-makeup-for-beginners/

Unfortunately, I’m already at my maximum capacity (14 hours per day 7 days a week) with what I’m doing on the blog, and I’m really sorry that I’m not able to push myself more for you!

Although I have one of the dupes, Rum Raisin, I may swatch Cola Pop in store to see how different they are on my fair skin. I love these deep berry shades during the fall and winter. Both colors look beautiful on you Christine!
