Charlotte Darling

Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte Darling Easy Eye Palette ($57.00 for 0.19 oz.) includes six shades that have been pulled from Bella Sofia (previously The Dolce Vita) and the Love Eyes/Happy Eyes trios from the Stars in Your Eyes palette. All six shades performed well; they were pigmented, blendable, and easy to work with and lasted eight to nine hours on me.

I don’t think it’s the same as the Easy Smokey Eye Palette that launched earlier this year at Nordstrom, but there is a fair amount of overlap between Easy Smokey Date (Enhance), Easy Smokey Day (Smoke), and Easy Smokey Day (Prime). (the other three are less similar).

The Dolce Vita #1

The Dolce Vita #1 is a bright, light-medium gold with strong, warm peach undertones and a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had rich color coverage paired with a smooth, cream-like texture that was dense without being too heavy or too thick, so it sat well on bare skin and blended out easily. I felt like it was softer than I recall the original quad I have this in (which was from when the first debuted stateside). It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before starting to fade.

Ingredients

MICA, OCTYLDODECYL STEAROYL STEARATE, TALC, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAISOSTEARATE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, PHENOXYETHANOL, MAGNESIUM MYRISTATE, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, DIAMOND POWDER, TIN OXIDE, [+/- TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), IRON OXIDES (CI 77491, CI 77492), CARMINE (CI 75470)].

Love Eyes (Enhance) is a peachy coral with warm undertones and a metallic finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer with a lightly creamy texture that was soft, yielding but not powdery to work with. This shade wore well for eight and a half hours before showing signs of fading.

Love Eyes (Smoke)

Love Eyes (Smoke) is a medium-dark coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It was intensely pigmented with a soft, silky texture that was a smidgen dusty in the pan but applied evenly and maintained its intensity when blended out. It lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Ingredients

TALC, MICA, POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE, SILICA, ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE, DIMETHICONE, TRIETHOXYCAPRYLYLSILANE, DIISOSTEARYL MALATE, HEXYL LAURATE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, ZINC STEARATE, PHENOXYETHANOL, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, DIAMOND POWDER, [+/- TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), IRON OXIDES (CI 77491, CI 77499), CARMINE (CI 75470), YELLOW 5 LAKE (CI 19140)].

Happy Eyes (Prime)

Happy Eyes (Prime) is a bright, medium-dark reddish-copper with warm undertones and a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly and smoothly to my lid. The texture was lightly creamy, dense without being too heavy or too stiff in the pan, so it had great adhesion but was easy to work with. The color stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before showing signs of wear.

MICA, OCTYLDODECYL STEAROYL STEARATE, TALC, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAISOSTEARATE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, PHENOXYETHANOL, MAGNESIUM MYRISTATE, TIN OXIDE, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, DIAMOND POWDER, [+/- TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), IRON OXIDES (CI 77491), CARMINE (CI 75470)].

Happy Eyes (Smoke)

Happy Eyes (Smoke) is a muted, medium brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had excellent color payoff in one layer, which adhered well to bare skin and blended out easily. The consistency was soft, smooth, and not too firmly nor too softly pressed into the pan. It lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

This palette is absolutely gorgeous! Unfortunately, too warm for my fair, way, way cool-toned skin. I have too many warm palettes, plus bought several of Pat McGrath’s, Hourglass’, Surrautt’s, Chanel’s, and Kevyn Aucoin’s items in the past two weeks. I am broke! But, hey, maybe I’ll be looking beautiful.

Thank you for always giving a full description and rating, plus dupes, which I know takes so much time and effort. It really helps narrow the field and focus me on what would work. Your knowledge shows through when you list so many dupes and the value of the comparisons. Your site and YOU are a gem!

I know people have mixed feelings about this palette… I missed out on the original Stars In Your Eyes, so I’ve been eyeing this since the Nordstrom sale. I’m happy that she re-released this palette since the colours are totally right up my alley. This palette seems like a lovely travel companion.

Too warm and too pricey for me. I don’t own a single thing from Charlotte Tilbury, partly, I think, a reaction against all the hype the company gives its products and partly because only a limited # of products are available locally for me to try for myself and those have been ones that didn’t get the greatest of ratings here so, oddly, I haven’t even bothered to check them out at my local Sephora.

This review was super helpful! I bought the Darling palette and it has easily been my favorite and I wear it all the time. The dupe list is spot on since I actually have some similar shades in other palettes that I can use up before I make a dent on my new one!!
