Chanel Tisse Paris (238) Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quad ($61.00 for 0.07 oz.) is the cooler-toned quad in the collection. I think this particular quad is less pigmented than the original set of quads released in the new eyeshadow formula. If you like the concept and don’t mind using your eyeshadows with a dampened brush, then you might still enjoy this, or else use a white eyeshadow base to get the colors to pop more. If you like the idea of softer pinks with gray, this might work. I wish the darker gray was more blendable, though.

Tisse Paris #1 is described as a “soft rosewood.” It’s a light-medium pink with warm undertones and a soft, pearly shimmer-sheen finish. It had good color payoff both wet and dry, though it was a smidgen darker and had a stronger sheen when applied with a dampened brush. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me before fading. Tarte Pampered Pink (LE) is similar. Chanel Jardin Zen #3 (LE) is slightly cooler-toned. Urban Decay Minor Sin (LE, $18.00) is lighter. Aveda Bare Bellis (P, $14.00) is darker, warmer. Urban Decay Scratch (P, $18.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Tisse Paris #2 is described as a “delicate ivory.” It’s a light, gold-shimmered beige with a soft, frosted finish. Applied dry, it was semi-opaque, and with a dampened brush, it was easier to use and had less powderiness to it, plus it was more opaque. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me before fading. ColourPop Onai (P, $5.00) is a cream product, less shimmery. ColourPop Girly (P, $5.00) is a cream product. LORAC Vanilla (LE) is a smidgen lighter. theBalm High Tide (LE, $16.00) is similar. Make Up For Ever I514 Pink Ivory (P, $21.00) is less golden. Make Up For Ever I414 Yellow Ivory (P, $21.00) is brighter. NARS Andromeda (P, $29.00) is more golden. Tarina Tarantino Fantastical #3 (P) is darker. Too Faced Champagne Truffle (LE, $16.00) is similar. MAC Mylar (P, $15.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Tisse Paris #3 is described as an “intense rosewood.” It’s a medium-dark pink with warm undertones and a satin finish. Applied dry, it was a little faded compared to the pan, and it wasn’t quite opaque. It’s a shade that would apply and look better with a dampened brush, because it is a little powdery to work with dry, which made it prone to sheering out. On me, it started to fade after seven hours of wear. Make Up For Ever S814 Light Rosewood (P, $21.00) is a smidgen lighter. MAC Rose (P, $15.00) is cooler-toned. Urban Decay Scratch (P, $18.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Tisse Paris #4 is described as an “intense slate grey.” It’s a deep, dark gray with a silver and teal metallic shimmer-sheen finish. The texture was somewhat dry, which made blending more difficult (I think it needs a more velvety base to do well) and resulted in semi-opaque pigmentation applied dry. It started to fade after seven and a half hours of wear. MAC Smoky Black Friday #3 (LE) is warmer. Tarina Tarantino Silver Shoes (LE) is lighter. NARS Bad Behaviour (LE, $24.00) is lighter. theBalm A4 (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery. Urban Decay Spell #2 (LE, $18.00) is more sparkly. MAC Hint of Sapphire (LE, $21.00) is similar. MAC Tall, Dark, & Handsome (LE, $19.50) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I’ve been eyeing this collection versus Guerlain. I love the look you created but this might all be too light and pink (cool) for me. Why these reviews and swatches help so much. Not a cheap collection…but still the lipstick and other quad to come.
Thanks!

Hi Meganlisa!! If you find this quad leans too cool for you, I can save you time about the Guerlain one. Although the sequined package is hard to resist, the pinks are VERY cool toned with a hint of Violet and they look very cool pink, hot pink, on any skin I’ve seen. I hope that helps! But, the YSL glow power, also in sequined packaging, I love that, is BEAUTIFUL! Are you looking for a palette with pinks that are more warm toned to fall in love with?

Eileen Avatar

Me, too, XamyX. There’s a lot of red (warm) in those pinks; hence the description “rosewood”. Also, the pale ivory adds additional warmth. The anthracite is cool which provides a nice contrast, but not enough to describe this as a “cool” palette. I think some people just automatically assume pink will be cool, but these colors are not blue based.

On another note, I love this quad. The rosewood shades make the dark, moss green of my eyes pop. And, for women like me who can easily wear all manner of rosé shades, Tissé Paris is worth a look. For women who don’t like pink/grey combinations, there are plenty of other options available for spring.

Hi Megan! I’m really sorry my ignorance misread your Guerlain as YSL! WOOPSIE! Are you thinking of the rose one? Many compare that to chanel but do like its neutrality more. I hope that helps! The Les Bois De Rose is not as warm as these, more muted, very wearable. It depends on what you want but many have chosen the 04 over Chanel and are glad they did. Please forgive my bad eyes for making s most ignorant comment comparing chanel to YSL, when you specifically said Guerlain, and may this find you some help choosing on a beautiful day! Happy holidays! 😀

I agree. Pinks benefit from being grounded with grays or browns to avoid the “pink eye” look. I’ve never had an issue with it, fortunately, so I pair pinks with berries, burgundies and purples, too.

I purchased this at Nordstrom this weekend because the Makeup Artist was there and put it on. She smoked it out with the gunmetal color, however, I still through it would be light in the application at home. Do you suggest the NYX Milk pencil as a primer, or something like that? I want to like these colors as I don’t have pink things. 🙂

I don’t like the color combo here. The 2 reddish- pinks make me nervous about looking pink-eyed or bloodshot, and paired with the dark gray/black, the colors don’t look spring-like to me.

It is a pretty quad, colour wise. I particularly like the #1 shade! I tend to have a fraught relationship with pink eyeshadows, as it’s ridiculoulsy easy for me to look infectious in them! Having said that, I do love the pink in the Sleek Storm palette, which is like these. I think a little shimmer helps to avoid the diseased look, LOL!

That all said, I like the look you’ve done with the shades here! The fact that you’ve left the middle of the lid clear of the dark pink really helps keep everything light and ‘cherry blossom’ rather than ‘conjunctivitis,’ ^_^ (not that I think you would have done a conjunctivitis look anyway).

Beautiful! What liner are you wearing? You have a lovely fresh muted lilac eye thing going on! Very nice! 😀 As for the palette, I want to see colors I haven’t seen. A combination that blows me away like the parisienne from mjb! 😀

I’m still on the fence about this palette. I love the colors, but for the price, I expected stellar performance. Great look you put together Christine…I can’t wait to see what you do with Fantasie.
BTW, received my Desirio polish in the mail today. It’s fantastic! Beautiful shade and great coverage/application.

I like the swatches and you make it look lovely Christine. But ,my first Chanel purchase has to be an A + item. Please tell me your going to give yourself a holiday break Christine. You absolutely deserve it! I’ll tell you Happy Holidays no. Just in case. I do not expect an answer.you would spend too much timereppkying to everyone!

I am loving the blushes and lipsticks from this collection, but I think Im going to pass on these quads… I feel like my naked3 satisfies my mauve/pink needs lol.

Christine, are you planning on reviewing the Dior spring line? I saw some instagram pics from europe, and they have some really interesting stuff coming this spring. There is a mono eyeshadow called fairly grey that looks really beautiful and unique… i would LOVE to hear your thoughts on it!!!!

I purchased it and promptly returned it. I’m not a fan of having to force things to work by using additional products. For the price-point I expect it to perform like a champ out the gate. Against my NC45 skintone and even using an eye primer that lightens up the area this translated quite ashy and flat on the lid. Fair-skinned beauties would get more bang out of this one.
