Chanel Splendeur et Audace Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches

Splendeur et Audace (306)

Chanel Splendeur et Audace Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow ($61.00 for 0.07 oz.) consists of a rich copper, mid-tone green, soft black, and dusty blue-teal. The shades work well together, but I expect most will need a complementary palette with other shades to bring everything together (like a transition shade, brow bone shade, etc.). The quality was solid across all four shades with good pigmentation, blendability, and wear.

Splendeur et Audace #1

Splendeur et Audace #1 is a medium-dark copper with warm, brown undertones and a metallic sheen. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, almost cream-like texture that felt softer and more yielding than any other Chanel powder eyeshadow I’ve tried–one of their best. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me.

Splendeur et Audace #2

Splendeur et Audace #2 is a medium green with warm undertones and a pearl finish. It had good pigmentation with a soft, blendable texture, but it was a touch dry and held its intensity better with a dampened brush where the shimmer was more in line with the initial swatch (otherwise it looked more satin). It stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me.

Splendeur et Audace #3

Splendeur et Audace #3 is a medium-dark black with neutra-to-cool undertones and a semi-matte finis. There were fine shimmers in it, but it looked like a soft matte in practice. It had excellent color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out easily.

It lasted for just over eight hours well on me.

Splendeur et Audace #4

Splendeur et Audace #4 is a dusty, medium blue-teal with subtle, cool undertones and a frosted finish. The consistency was drier and slightly dusty in the pan, so the pigmentation wasn’t quite opaque on its own–it was better over eyeshadow primer or applied with a dampened brush. It blended out nicely though, and it wore well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

This palette and the eye look you did definitely live up to that first word in its name : Splendeur!
Thing is, I’m not so sure I can justify buying it. I’ve got its #1 dupe for the green shade in Empriente du Desert. 3 90% dupes of the teal shade. And quite a few copper and satiny black eyeshadows of high quality. I just don’t know? Perhaps if it’s permanent, I will be considering it down the line.

Try a look with your dupes? I’m always passing on things I ‘have close dupes for’ but never get around to doing a look combo with them. >.< I need to!
I’m wanting to check the texture on these though, it looks kind of well…delicious.

This is a much better quad than the one shown yesterday. The shades are beautiful, but still I wish that the black was just a grey shade… Love the green, copper and blue shades.
Gorgeous eye look Christine.

This palette is a pleasant surprise! I thought the teal and green shades would be identical to the teal and green shades in the 9-pan Neapolis palette, and to Chanel’s Verderame cream shadow (teal on me). Glad to see it rated well. Your eye look is beautiful, Christine.

Omg, these are gorgeous and I’ve done well on my no-buy this year so it may be time for a treat!

Are the textures at all similar to Ombres Perlees palette from Dec 2010? I keep looking for more shadows like those with that texture (and ideally similar multi-tone shimmers) but they are my unicorns! Anyone?
