Chanel Sari Dore Rouge Coco Lipstick
Chanel Sari Dore Rouge Coco Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a lightened orange with a little peach that has a lot of white micro-shimmer and a semi-frosted sheen. It applies nearly opaque, and it has a very reflective finish, so it can be worn by itself quite easily without looking flat. It is a new and limited edition shade from the Cote d’Azur Collection, which is online-only at this time–but you never know if it’ll pop-up in-stores (as SoHo eventually did, at least at select locations).
Rouge Coco is a slightly drier formula, because most of the shades are frost finishes, but I don’t find it drying–it’s just not moisturizing. It has a light vanilla-rose scent that’s rather faint but still detectable. It doesn’t seem to linger, though. On average, Rouge Cocos last four hours on me. I like the formula overall, and the shade range tends to be very wearable with a wide variety of colors from pinks to browns to reds.

FINAL THOUGHTS: This is one of the more wearable versions of orange I’ve come across; I actually think it may be an orange that’s appropriate for even cool skin tones, because it doesn’t pull too orange. The Rouge Coco formula is most suitable for those with relatively healthy lips; if your lips are dry and cracking, I would recommend opting for a more moisturizing formula (perhaps Rouge Allure, if you want to stay within Chanel).

I have Sari Doré since this past summer and I am OK with it but it pulls more neon on me (my lips are more pigmented). And you’re right, now my lips are dry and when I tried it a few hours ago it just didn’t look right… went for MAC Drive Me Wild instead. To me it’s a great color for summer!
I own and love this lipstick so much! It’s perfect for summer.
I completely agree with your final thoughts. I’m surprised this looks so good. Had I only based my impression on the tube alone, I wouldn’t have thought much about it. But thanks to your swatches, I’ll definitely check it out in stores if I can get my hands on it.
On a not-so unrelated note, are you going to review the Chanel Ombres Perlées eyeshadow palette?
Yes, I will.
Woohoo, thanks. Looking forward to it. 🙂
I dont think is limited edition, it came out when all the rouge cocos and Ihave seen it on counters all the time, at least in the UK! (In fact I saw in a chanel video where a MA used and I fal in love so I have swatches many times)
I found the video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zvc1I_0qmdM
Its so beautiful!!!
According to Chanel’s press releas for U.S. bloggers, it is limited edition, which is all I can report on 🙂
Looks way better on your lips than in the tube!
It’s technically not new nor limited edition, as it’s been part of the Euro/Asian permanent line since the original release of the Rouge Cocos.
Hi Lauren,
It is new and limited edition for the U.S. as far as I know – this is a U.S. based blog as that is where I reside so unfortunately, I can only blog from that perspective 🙂
I love these Coco Rouge lipsticks! Such a splurge, but well worth it, and the colours are amazing.
I thought Sari Dore was part of the permanent collection, though, but perhaps that’s just Australia? Anybody know?
Might have to get this just for the name 😉
Christine would you please help me find a nice dupe for Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s lip color?? 🙂
Do you have a photo to show? I have no idea what you’re talking about otherwise, sorry!
That is a very pretty shade. It reminds me of orange cremesicles.
Hi, so this is fairly random but I need a few suggestions on MAC lipsticks. Well lipstick colors in general, unfortanetly I have darker well carmel skintone and I’d like a nude/pink lipstick just for school. And you are my favorite blogger well guru in general, so yeah. Thanks 🙂
Honeylove or Touch!
What blush are you wearing today? It’s the perfect touch of glow!
Benefit Sugarbomb!
Christine, I was wondering what you are wearing on your cheeks in this picture. It’s very flattering on you. 🙂
Benefit Sugarbomb
only if it wasnt $30…
Wow this is gorgeous and I want it.
🙂 OMG all the lipsticks look amazing on you !!
This looks great on you :)! For me it won´t work, because orange is not my colour.
It looks so good! Makes me revise my thoughts about orange lipstick.
I believe this is not LE in Asia, I have seen this in the counters since the Rouge Cocos are here. But, some colours like Rouge Noir are not available in Asia so I think this LE/available here there everywhere thing really depends on the country. It looks great on you though 🙂
Would you please compare it to Niagara from NARS?
It’s nothing like it: http://www.temptalia.com/the-summer-season-nars-niagara-lipstick
If Rouge Coco is not moisturizing and you say to go with Rouge Allure if staying in Chanel………then what is your fav for a moisturizing, lasting lipstick that does not leave lips feeling dry after it rubs off?
Thx
Rhonda
Guerlain Rouge G.
I have light, cool-toned skin but I think I might actually be able to wear this. Don’t think I want to pay $30.00 for it, though.
Is it similar to chalys???
@eyeheartit Looks orange. Not coral 😉
@TheGlitterGeek Eh. Same same 😛 I just want something summery. I figure if Calypso shows up coral, I can get both and they’ll be different?
@TheGlitterGeek Or Egerie? Is that one more coral? It’s hard with online swatches, everyone’s looks so different -.-
@eyeheartit No idea!! Good luck.
@TheGlitterGeek gah. I don’t like the Chanel SAs at my local nordstrom ._.
@eyeheartit @theglittergeek looks orange-peach to me 😡
@xiaoo @theglittergeek I know, I know 😛 I have a feeling that corals will make me look gaudy though ._.
