Chanel Rouge Puissant & Rouge Royal Rouge Allure L'Extrait Lip Colours Reviews & Swatches
Rouge Puissant (854)
Chanel Rouge Puissant (854) Rouge Allure L’Extrait Lip Colour ($55.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a brighter, medium red with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. The consistency was lightweight, smooth, and creamy without being too emollient, which ensured the product applied evenly and didn’t emphasize my lip lines. This shade had full color payoff that stayed on nicely for five and a half hours and was moisturizing.

Formula Overview
$55.00/0.07 oz. - $785.71 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have a "satin" finish with eight-hour wear (and 12 hours of hydration) and an "ultra-high concentration of pigments" and a "deeply moisturizing complex." The range was quite pigmented with most shades delivering fully opaque coverage in a single layer, though there were a few exceptions.
The consistency was smooth, creamy, and lightly emollient without too much slip, so it stayed in place without feathering on me, but it was a "thicker" and denser formula compared to most Chanel lip color formulas I have tried; this wasn't a good or bad thing, but it was a departure worth noting for those familiar with prior lipstick releases from the brand. I felt this thicker formula did help to soften my lip lines and yield a very flattering look on my lips, though.
Most shades lasted at least four hours with some shades lasting closer to six hours but eight hours of decent wear would have been a stretch. Eight hours with some remnants of color? Possibly with some of the bolder hues (e.g. a red). The formula was comfortable and hydrating to wear, and I definitely felt no need to hasten to get lip balm after one wore off.
The lipstick had a subtle, floral scent (I didn't notice it after I applied it, mostly in the tube) but no discernible taste.
Note: this is a refillable lipstick, so the price reflects the cost of the case and the lipstick shade (cases are not currently available on their own). Refills are $40 each at the time of publishing.

PPermanent. $55.00.
Rouge Royal (858)
Chanel Rouge Royal (858) Rouge Allure L’Extrait Lip Colour ($55.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a deep, cooler-toned red with blue undertones and a cream finish. It was incredibly pigmented and seemed to glide on effortlessly, though it might be too emollient for some. I didn’t personally experience feathering, but that is not an issue I’ve had come up very frequently.
The texture was lightweight, creamy, and smooth with some density and moderate slip. It lasted well for six and a half hours and left a stain behind, while the formula itself was hydrating.

Rouge Puissant is so perfect for this time of year! Thankfully, I do have YSL’s Scout’s Red. That is my favorite red for spring, summer or whenever I want to really light up my lips with a vivid warmer red!
Wow – these are gorgeous reds! Both a little different, but equally lovely. Fortunately I have Shiseido’s Firecracker and Lantern Red shades that are fairly similar to these. It’s not often I can match a red lipstick these days, but having the Visionary lipsticks makes it easier.
These lipsticks look s lovely, gorgeous colours and that lovely juiciness I love.
I’m not going to buy anything from Chanel right now, later, perhaps, they do have some very tepting products.
I found it fun, going through the dupes for Rouge Royal, I have dupes and I think about five on my WL. Obviously a type of red I love!
Can you ever have too many red lipsticks? I think I am single handedly trying to figure that out. If it is cool toned and doesn’t dry my lips out, I want it. Rouge Royal is gorgeous. I just purchased a red from a brand I haven’t purchased from before. I am blaming Michelle but will share details on Friday.
