The Rouge Allure Velvet formula is Chanel’s take on a “non-drying matte lipstick” that is supposed to have “intensely rich, long-wearing colour.” This shade had mostly opaque coverage with a lightweight, glide-on texture that was creamy without being too emollient. It adhered well to the lips and lasted for five hours on me, and it did leave a stain behind. I felt like the texture, as it was thinner, seemed to emphasize the texture of my lips, so it didn’t look as smooth as some formulas do applied to the lips. After wearing it, my lips felt slightly dry.

I look terrible in this kind of pink, but it looks good on you !
Thanks, Katherine!
That’s a beautiful shade!
It is!
This is really pretty!
The color is pretty!
This shade looks so perfect for spring and summer, BUT in a less drying formula! I cannot even deal with drying lipsticks in this climate anymore. Thank goodness for dupes, eh?
Btw, I think it looks stunning on you! Like a vision of spring!
Aw, thank you Nancy! 🙂
Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet formula is really hit or miss for me re: drying! Sometimes they’re fine, other times they’re soo drying!
Beautiful color! It looks lovely on you.
Thanks, Rachel!
I had a phase last year where I bought a number of these lipsticks in the this formula and I was very excited about them at first only to find over time, I liked the formula less and less. The issue: they are fairly drying on me and they wear off in a most unflattering way from my lips… gather up into little lipsticks balls.
Gotta love little lipstick balls… lol!
Pretty! Looks like a summer shade. I need a beach!
Haha! 😉
It’s a beautiful, divine shocking pink, and the formula and staying power seems excellent to my “tester”. I’m on the hunt for the perfect new matte lipsticks for my Mum, who after 30 years is leaving MAC, she’s not pleased with the quality/formula of the lipsticks anymore. Regarding the CHANEL lippie, it wore well on my Mum without a liner, and she’s 77 for 5 hours, so a nice product for mature ladies too.
Aww! I hope she enjoys it 🙂
It’s like a spring cherry blossom!
Good description!
This pink is pretty. I am highly considering picking this up as my first high end lipstick . Thanks for sharing.
No problem, Racquel!
I love this colour! It makes me smile!
Yay!
Pretty color on you!
Thank you, Laarni!
