Chanel Les Pop-Up de Chanel: Mistral & Riviera Le Vernis Review, Photos, Swatches
Chanel Le Vernis: Mistral (517), Riviera (537)
Chanel Les Pop-Up de Chanel: Mistral & Riviera
Along with Nouvelle Vague, which I reviewed last week, Chanel launched two other shades of lacquer ($23) in their Les Pop-Up de Chanel Collection.
I bought these at my local Chanel counter (in Nordstrom) today, so if your Chanel counter hasn’t gotten stock in yet, I imagine it should be soon–I had done a pre-sale on these, so my favorite Chanel artist gave me a call when these were in (funny enough, her name is also Christine!). She said they only got fifteen Nouvelle Vagues in! Unfortunate for my pocketbook, along with my Chanel items, I also bought just as much in headbands… including one that matches Nouvelle Vague!! I couldn’t resist! Anyway…
- Mistral is a baby petal pink with champagne micro-glitter It goes opaque in three coats and looks kind of squishy on. I had no issues applying this shade–standard fair for Chanel in my experience.
- Riviera is a darkened bright pink cream. It’s opaque in two coats, though I swatched it with three. It was easy to apply and looked flawless on.
Neither Mistral nor Riviera is as eye-catching (or unique) as Nouvelle Vague, which I fully expect to sell out and see on eBay for triple digits at some point. I don’t have previous nail shades memorized, but I’m sure you could dupe Mistral or Riviera without too much trouble–hopefully our lovely nail fanatics can chime in with their dupe recommendations! That’s not to say that these aren’t fun, feminine shades, because they are, but typically when I shell out $23 for a Chanel polish, I do so for the uniqueness of the shade!
By the by, I actually asked both my parents (who are so not beauty mavens!) if they could tell the difference between the $3 and $23 polishes (China Glaze For Audrey vs. Chanel Nouvelle Vague), and they both immediately pointed out the Chanel-shaded fingers as the $23 one. My boyfriend, on the other hand, was boggled by it, because he couldn’t, even after scrutinizing!

- Product: 29/30
- Value: 6/10
- Ease of Use: 4/5
- Packaging: 4/5
Recommendation: Nouvelle Vague is the most unique shade of the bunch, even if it similar to China Glaze’s For Audrey. Mistral and Riviera are pretty and have no formulation issues, but they’re less “ooh!” shades.

Cara New York Headband ($38) from Nordstrom to match Nouvelle Vague!
I am in LURVE with the details! Noticeable, chunky, but they don’t take over my head.
I couldn’t find Nouvelle Vague when I went to snap photos of the headband,
so I just Photoshopped it in, LOL! (No worries, I later found Nouvelle Vague!)
I purchased nouvelle vague at Nordstrom today. It’s available at every nordstrom now. Well that’s what the Chanel artist told me?!
It sounds like it just depends on when the counters get the delivery of the goodies!
Mistral is a lovely color. They didn’t have it in stock when I was at Nordie’s today. Cute headband, I’m so jealous!
nice colors but not wow. i would like riviera if it had glitter in it or at least a pearly finish.
do you swatch the lipsticks too?
i was looking forward for the glossed, but your swatches showed, that they are very sheer. then you won’t see anything on the lips.
I just picked up two of the lipsticks today, so I’ll be swatching those soon 🙂
yay! Thank you! can’t wait to see the swatches.
love the headband:)
That headband is BEAUTEOUS
Love the headband, especially with the polish! I’m not one for expensive polish, but perhaps that’s because I’m a student and work in a coffeeshop so I have to take my polish off for work. Maybe when I get a real job I’ll splurge 🙂
Having to take your polish off for work would be pretty annoying! Chanel always gets me with their polish, but I don’t typically splurge on other high end brands’ polishes (Dior, Givenchy, etc.) for some reason.
they look better when they are swatched….I want them ALL!!!
I always adore the colours that chanel come out with they’re just so unlike other colours and much more detailed.I just keep buying them even though they chip so quickly.
Oh my goodness! Your headband is just too cute, Christine! I love it 🙂
Headbands… my other obsession! Need more heads… to wear them more often!
They’re really pretty but I change my nail polish at least once a week and I can’t bring myself to pay more that $10 for np and even that eats my soul!
I have never bought a nail polish from Chanel but these two colors are so pretty! so is your headband 🙂
What is a good cheap dupe for Mistral? I love it but I don’t love the price. lol
Try Zoya Dita for Riviera, perhaps Zoya Erika for Mistral?
Oh and Riviera while you are at it. lol
Phew! I’ll take a pass, but thanks for the review anyway! =)
I adore Riviera nail polish color. It’s so sweet, just my taste of nail polish. 🙂 The headband is also gorgeous 🙂
Mistral is gorgeous! Great swatches, thanks for making them! Can’t wait to buy Mistral and Nouvelle Vague. I hope they will come soon in our stores.
it looks great and Chanel has amazing texture in their nail lacquers but I don’t think that these two are all too unique. There are many dupes out there for this that I think would suffice. But, Chanel certainly has amazing colours that are worth the money!!
Cute colors, but I’m not going crazy over them. I’d buy them though, but they’re expensive
I love that headband. For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to wear a headband in a way that doesn’t make me look 17!
LOL! I don’t know much about hair… I just throw on headbands 😛
I just bought “For Audry” after you reviewed it last week. a Lighter shade than “Flyin’high” that I also bought 3 weeks ago and loved.
I know that Chanel’s product would look better, but I want to fool myself and think they are the same because I just can’t afford to pay 23 dollars on something I’m sure I would use 3 or maybe 4 times =(
As much as I love nail polishes I can’t find the time to paint my nails very often =(
what is a good riviera dupe?
Try Zoya Dita for Riviera…
hahahaha!! I love the “squishy” description 🙂
awesome mint green
Mistral is real nice. I am wearing it right now. But yes, for the Chanel brush, it’s really not that worth the price. I am pretty sure there will be one like this in OPI, with a much much better brush. The paint, like everybody probably already know, is super quick dry, but Chanel is tad streaky.
We just got this line in our store here in Europe !
I’m in love with Nouvelle Vague ! I was curious as to which of the
other two shades you liked the most ? I would like to try another one !
Mistral, because it has the soft shimmer!
Thank you for your quick reply !
P.S , I’m a big fan your tutorials , they are quick to the point , simple and very helpful !
I hope you make some for the Summer 🙂
I will try!
