Chanel Intuition Eyeshadow Quad Review, Photos, Swatches
Chanel Intuition Eyeshadow Quad
Chanel Intuition Eyeshadow Quad ($58.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a warm-toned palette that features shades of “light pink, gold, chocolate brown, and brown-grey.” It will be released sometime this month online and at Chanel retailers, and it joins the permanent range (according to the press release).
The first shade is a soft pink-beige with a frosted finish. It had good color payoff, and it was fairly smooth. Urban Decay Freebird is pinker. Bobbi Brown Black Sparkle is similar in color but has a sparkly finish. MAC Hush is more matte but close in color. Urban Decay Sin is more metallic.
The second shade is a yellowed gold with gold sparkles. You could and feel the glittery bits in this shade, which gave it a sheerer appearance, and it made it difficult to apply. I had a great deal of fall out during application as well as during wear with this shade. Cinderella Gus Gus is brighter, yellower, less orange. Milani Gold Dust is more orange. Tarina Tarantino Mr. Gold is slightly less orange. Bare Escentuals Remix is yellower. Chanel Blazing Gold is a smidgen yellower. MAC Goldmine is more metallic.
The third shade is a subtly warm-toned dark brown with bronze shimmer. It had good color payoff, though the texture was a touch dry. Cinderella Jaq is darker. Urban Decay Muse is darker and more red-toned. Make Up For Ever #15 is warmer. Bobbi Brown Chocolate is similar.
The fourth shade is a warm-toned, copper-brown with a shimmer-sheen finish. It had nice pigmentation, and the texture was a smidgen powdery but applied really smoothly on the eye. MAC Mulch is a touch lighter. MAC Havana is similar, perhaps a little darker (when used wet). Benefit Dandy Brandy is similar. MAC Roasted Chestnut is comparable.
The gold is particularly troublesome, and at this price point, harder to accept as-is; the sparkly finish resulted in noticeable fall out during wear, and it made application more difficult, as it had to be packed on and worked into the skin to smooth it out. Both the darker brown shades are lovey, though together they can get a little lost. I like it, but I don’t love it. If the gold shade was improved, it would be more versatile and easier to use.

Wow, I am not impressed. I know Chanel keeps things classy but it’s so…safe. I have plenty of colors in my palettes and individual eyeshadow pots that look similar.
Chanel eyeshadows are so overrated… It’s amazing to me how they never get great scores. I would not pay that much for such mediocre products, when there’s Burberry out there, which seems far superior in quality. I own quite a few of their makeup items and only one Chanel, Illusoire cream shadow, which – it has to be said – I absolutely love. When it comes to high-end makeup, I’ll stick with Burberry.
Hee, I love Burberry 🙂 My goal is to own all their blushes someday, and I’m making a dent in lipsticks! I just got their mascara and was surprisingly impressed by it, too. Absolutely my favorite makeup line.
Couldn’t agree more!
I’m too afraid to stick my toe in the Burberry pool; once I try a new brand, and end up loving it (and I’m reading too many wonderful things about Burberry), I become a bit obsessed, and *must* collect.
Oh, but it’s so worth it. Their blushes are the softest I’ve ever used and the lipsticks are creamy and smooth, even the matte ones. I just tried their mascara and was really surprised by how good it was – no clumping or spiking, just long, thick lashes. I have yet to have a product of theirs that’s bombed.
Love the step-by-step! Not so mad about the palette though.
I love the pictures of the step-by-step application. Its a very nice neutral look, but I think I’ll probably skip this. Too much $ for a so-so product.
Love the step by step! Would be amazing if you could do one for the Harmonie du Soir as well. http://www.temptalia.com/chanel-harmonie-du-soir-eyeshadow-palette-review-photos-swatches
Hi Amber!
Unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos for that look!
Yay a step-by-step! I admit I miss your looks/tutorials, although I understand that you want to focus on reviews.
The palette itself is just okay, unfortunately. Probably not something I’d pick up. Thank you for the review, Christine! 🙂
I really like the step by step pictures on how you created the look. Thanks for your hard work!
My wallet thanks you Christine… I’ll be passing on this one. It’s too dupeable with one shade that’s underperforming.
Love the step-by-step!! Please keep those up – it’s so helpful for me when I’m trying to recreate your looks! 😀
LOVE the step-by-step!!! It was a really nice surprise. 🙂
The application photos are a terrific added touch and really appreciated… even though I don’t care for the quad.. LoL 😀
I love your tutorial! Really, tho, is there anything new or novel in this palette? If you open your stash, don’t you have about 100 other palettes similar to this one? For Chanel, personally I’m disappointed at the lack of innovation.
It’s one of those palettes that can be classic or boring, just depending on what you have and what you need/love, you know? Because it’s not perfect, it’s hard to be a classic, so then it’s like, “Well, I have something kind of like that brown…”
the step by step is so cool!
I just realised that I subconsciously really love your eye looks and really trust every single word you say because you have hooded lids too, and you’re exactly NC25 (+/-). I find that my eye and skin tone is so similar to you that everything you claim works on you is so reliable, Temptalia.com is like makeup bible.
Love the step-by-step, Christine! This one post must’ve taken a long time though 😛 But it’s worth it. The quad is pretty but I still haven’t bought any of the Chanel ones yet because pretty as they are, I generally feel like Chanel’s makeup is of inferior quality compared to other brands
Christine!
Thank you for the tutorial! I love it and will be copying it soon.
I’m loving the step by step pictures of your look – a great addition that I also hope you keep up! It´s so great how you continue making Tempalia.com more fun and informative every day. Thank you!!
I love the step by step pictures!
More step by step pics please awesome 🙂
A TUTORIAL! *flails*
As much as I love your reviews, Christine, I’ve really been missing your eye looks/&etc. recently — it’s really great to see a new step-by-step on Temptalia! 🙂
Oh, LOVING the step by step!!!
The quad design is cute. I like the shape of the squares. ^.^
The shades are nice, but not special or unique to me.
Love the tutorial pics, Christine! 😀
THANK you for the tutorial!! So cool!
Nice tutorial!
I love the new tutorial look format! Definitely more work for you, but thank you for loving us that much! <3 Heehee
Love the new tutorial, Christine!
I love the tutorial! I wanted to know what brushes you used if possible. The palette is beautiful but I really enjoy your great tutorials so I can attempt them in the mornings.
MAC 239 and 226!
I had the same experience with the gold shade – thumbs down on that one, and I don’t really understand including the 2 browns in 1 palette — they don’t work with each other at all, and are pretty boring in general, at least on my green eyes.
The browns are too similar, I think 🙁
Got this the other day. I love it!
Great quality, beautiful pigmentation & long lasting!
Wonderful products like this is the reason i’ve used chanel for the past 13 years and keep coming back for more. Next paycheck I’m getting the variations quad
Love when you do tutorials! But what is on your lower lasline, the silvery eyeliner? looks great <3
Tarina Tarantino Sparkling Ammunition
Wow! I love the tutorial, thank you so much. I hope you’ll have more in future reviews.
