Chanel Extatique Rouge Allure Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches

Chanel Extatique Rouge Allure Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.12 oz.) is bright fuchsia pink with iridescent fuchsia-pink shimmer. It’s almost as bright applied to lips as it appears in the tube. The finish is fairly frosty. Le Metier de Beaute Paris is darker, more magenta. MAC Pink Pigeon is much cooler-toned and doesn’t have shimmer. NYX Pink Lyric is similar but doesn’t have shimmer. MAC Show Orchid is more intense, slightly darker. Illamasqua Welt is pinker.

Of the new Rouge Allures that I’ve reviewed so far, I liked Extatique the least, as far as the formula went. There’s something about this shade that yielded a drier consistency, and with the frosted finish, I felt it looked dry on my lips, too. It wasn’t hydrating when I wore it, though it lasted six hours, and I wouldn’t say it dried my lips out.  The texture could be creamier, and for a formula described as hydrating, this falls short.  It did deliver mostly opaque color payoff (and it seemed sheer when swatched, so I was happy to see it was as pigmented as Chanel describes).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Hahah what a coincidence! I swatched this on my hand just briefly at the Chanel counter just today, it looks far better on a pair of lips! It’s a very pretty pink, not too red either, it’s quite a blue pink huh? Which I like, I’m kind of sick of red-pinks. Thank you Christine for changing my mind about it! It’s another Chanel on the list… =D

I´m really impatient for the new rouge allure to arrive in my area. I was deciding between Exaltee which I have planed on purchasing for some time now and this other lipstick Extatique. But now I honestly think I´m just going to buy Exaltee, this one is a bit to blue based for my taste, but it still looks lovely in you Christine 😀 it suits you.

Hey Christine, I was wondering if you have tried to the Chanel Rouge Allure in Rouge Noir #109 and how it compares to Chanel L’Impatiente Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick from the winter collection.

Thanks!

Oh, I just swatched this yesterday, and I loved it! It’s a shame about the formula being drying. Oh well, I guess that’s money saved in my pocket book. 😛
