Chanel Deep Les Beiges Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Deep
Chanel Deep Les Beiges Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow Palette ($65.00 for 0.16 oz.) is a new, gold-and-copper themed palette with five shades. Per the brand, they’re supposed to be “smudge-proof [and] long-lasting” and range from “soft to intense” and “matte to shimmery.” The shimmers were dismal, while the matte/satin shades were lovely–such a mixed bag but the level of disappointment I had with the shimmers would make this a no-go for me.

Deep #1
Deep #1 is a light-medium, golden brown with warm, yellow undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had excellent pigmentation with a soft, velvety texture that wasn’t dusty or powdery in the pan. The eyeshadow applied well to bare skin, blended out nicely, and lasted for eight hours on me.

Deep #2
Deep #2 is a medium-dark copper with warm, brown undertones and a glittery finish. It seemed more like loosely-packed glitter than a typical powder eyeshadow. I wish there were more binding ingredients in it to help the glitter adhere better to the skin, as the only way I could get this to work decently on my lid was when I used it with a dampened brush. It wore well for six hours but had a lot of fallout.

Deep #4
Deep #4 is a medium brown with warm, yellow undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer that applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin. The eyeshadow felt smooth and velvety without being dusty or powdery in the pan, which made for easy application as it blended out with minimal effort. It lasted for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Deep #5
Deep #5 is a medium, coppery-orange base with lighter flecks of chunky copper glitter and sparkle. The sparkle ruined the finish–it was just so dry and loosely bound with the powder so it was a mess to work with and had very poor wear on its own (without a glitter adhesive or using it dampened, which minimized initial fallout only). It wore well for six hours but had some fallout over time.

Yikes, how can those shimmers be so bad? Those copper/bronze shimmer shades are usually the easiest to get right.
Christine, your information about products like this one – a product that should be excellent, given the price, but is anything but (and would be even at half the price) – well, it’s one of the many reason I really, REALLY appreciate this site and all the work you do. So, it’s a neutral, warm palette of brown shades so hardly anything earthshattering in its originality and yet they’ve failed miserably to make something really covet-able and good. Shame on Chanel
Happy to help! I was very surprised by the textures of the sparkly shades 🙁
How disappointing! I quit buying Chanel and Bobbi Brown because there are so many better brands of eyeshadow out now!
Wow – those shimmers are woeful! How could Chanel get them so wrong? And there are a couple of shades that are pretty similar to each other too – Deep # 1 and 4.
An epic fail. Beautiful eye look Christine.
Sad to say, but I’m not surprised. Channel’s baked eyeshadow formula is nearly always superb. Their regular formula usually found in Chanel’s larger palettes tends to suck. This is one more case of the latter.
My mind boggles at how they got the mattes right and the shimmers wrong. I guess that’s unique?
I just swatched the glitter shades a few days ago at my local Shoppers Beauty Boutique and they applied beautifully to the back of my hand. It’s too bad these were the same shades that faired poorly upon application. The matte shades look gorgeous. Pity.
So this essentially boils down to $65 for three decent matte browns?
You can do better, Chanel.
The shimmers were dismal, while the matte/satin shades were lovely–such a mixed bag but the level of disappointment I had with the shimmers would make this a no-go for me.
My experience exactly with Viseart Absinthe. Shimmers SO bad I am so sorry I bought it, and, obviously, I’m still smarting over it. This Chanel palette has no allure for me anyway, but that level of terrible from such a high-end brand does so much overall damage to their reputation. Too many other choices out there.
I was hoping their non-baked formula stopped sucking after they did that 9-pan that did really well (name escapes me). I don’t get it. I love their quads though and own 3–I would haul more of them if it wasn’t cost prohibitive for my budget.
The mattes look similar to the Kaska Beige quad I have. Shame the shimmers are pants in this particular palette; Chanel, you need to pull your socks up!
