Chanel Crescendo (250) Joues Contraste Powder Blush
Chanel Crescendo (250) Joues Contraste Powder Blush ($45.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a delicate gold sparkle over a satin finish. MAC Kindergarten Red (LE, $32.00) is lighter. Guerlain Angelic Radiance (LE, $53.00) is lighter. LORAC Underrated (LE) is similar. Tarte Irreplaceable (LE, $26.00) is darker. MAC Peaches & Cream (LE, $21.00) is darker, brighter. Make Up For Ever #210 HD Blush (P, $26.00) is a cream product, brighter. Charlotte Tilbury Love is the Drug (P, $40.00) is more shimmery. MAC Formal (LE) is lighter. Urban Decay Temper (LE) is cooler-toned. Chanel Inspiration (64) (P, $38.00) is lighter, cream. theBalm Argyle (P, $22.00) is cooler-toned. Edward Bess Bed of Roses (P, $43.00) is darker, brighter. NYX Rose Garden (P, $5.00) is warmer. MAC Lovecloud (P, $21.00) is lighter. Chanel Rose Initiale (P, $45.00) is slightly darker. Chanel’s powder blush formula is supposed to have “buildable coverage” with a “silky, delicate texture” that will “impart a radiant glow.” The best parts of this new, limited edition blush is its finish, which is softly luminous on the skin, and its color payoff, which is semi-opaque and buildable to more opaque color if desired. Unfortunately, the texture is powdery and doesn’t adhere as well to skin, so it takes some work to really buff and blend the color onto the skin for an even layer of product that is nicely diffused along the edges. The powder felt silky to the touch, but it just didn’t go on effortlessly at all. On me, this shade stayed on well for seven and a half hours before fading.

Aww, that’s too bad about the blush. It looks so pretty in the swatch, but $45 is a lot for a blush that won’t adhere to the skin.
It’s a really pretty color, but I wasn’t in love with the performance, unfortunately!
The shade is beautiful. Too bad the formula is not flawless. Your eye makeup is so pretty! I hope the eyeshadow quad is going to get an A rating from you!
We shall see! 🙂
For $45, this needs to adhere and blend well. Too bad, the color is pretty.
I totally agree!
This is such a lovely color totally up my street! Wish the formula fared better! You look gorgeous nonetheless! 🙂
Me too 🙁
Bummer! I have had a hard time with pinky blushes lately! Oh well, fingers crossed for the eye products!
I was so bummed!
Christine, you are the absolute best for getting timely reviews posted for your eager readers…thank you so much! For some reason, I thought this was going to be cooler in tone, but it’s still a lovely shade. I have several of the dupes listed, so I may be able to resist.
Your whole look is stunning, as usual. I’m starting to think you could make finger paint look amazing 🙂
My pleasure, Eliz! 🙂
Looks like my first Chanel purchase WON’T be the blush! What a bummer!!
Awww!
The swatch does look a little patchy. It’s too bad it doesn’t adhere well. But now I’m not lamenting missing out on it.
Phew 🙂
I so wish this would be perfect! Because the colors sure looks pretty <3
It was a great concept!
Do you think this would work for someone with fair/light oily skin? I’m just wondering as I usually never run into this problem with face products like I do with shadows. Sometimes it is the opposite where it seems too much is sticking and it can be hard to blend out.
I had a lot of issues with it blending out, so I don’t know that it would work for you!
Ohh, I like this. I’m getting a new Tarte blush and it may be the dupe you mentioned.
Awesome! 😀
Hm, although the colour is pretty, I think Chanel have spolied me a little bit with their cream blush formula!! The recent powder ones don’t seem to have quite the same Ooooh factor (pretty floral patterning notwithstanding) 😉
It is hard to compete with Le Blush Creme! Such a great formula.
Very pretty and it looks lovely on you Christine. But I think it is too pink for me.
Thank you, Genevieve!
Been there. Done it.. with previous Joues having better results. Pass.
It’s a mystery why sometimes they do the formula justice and other times it’s a miss.
The color is so pretty. It’s too bad the quality isn’t all that great
It’s a real shame!
