Chanel Caresse (180) Joues Contraste Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
Chanel Caresse (180) Joues Contraste Blush
Chanel Caresse (180) Joues Contraste Blush ($45.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a soft, peach-orange with white sparkle over a satin finish. YSL Rebelle (7) (P, $47.00) is darker, brighter. MAC Style Cast (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery. Makeup Geek Smitten (P, $9.99) is more matte. Marc Jacobs Beauty Shameless (220) (P, $30.00) is slightly pinker. Sisley Paris Mango (3) (P, $85.00) is similar. Hourglass Dim Infusion (P, $35.00) is pinker. NARS Realm of the Senses #3 (LE, $29.00) is more shimmery. MAC Bareness (LE, $25.00) is pinker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
For fairer complexions, I could see this being a nice, easy-to-wear, everyday shade that’s nearly impossible to overdo. It had more buildable coverage ranging from sheer to semi-opaque. Sometimes, with lighter shades like this, they don’t always show up as well on camera as they do in person, but I could barely detect where I had applied it, so for those with medium or darker skin tones, I’d recommend trying it in-store first. The texture was soft and silky–a smidgen powdery but didn’t look that way applied to the skin. If you were leery because of the sparkle, I honestly couldn’t see any transfer onto the skin, though I definitely saw it in the pan! On me, it seemed to wear for about seven and a half hours.
Caresse (180)
LELimited Edition. $45.00.

What a pretty blush! I really like the colour, perfect, as you said, for everyday use. I must test this.
Let me know if it works well for you!
I swatched this yesterday but thought it might be a little too light for me. Glad to hear the shimmer is a bit like the one from last year’s Accent though (ie very visible in the pan but doesn’t translate to the skin)!
I was surprised it was so subtle on me, even layered!
This is gorgeous! I’m always on the look for a very, very subtle blush, and this looks like it could be it! Thank you!
No problem, Jenny!
You look so purdy 😉
I grabbed Jersey.. more my speed. I think I can safely pass on this one. Nice on you, tho
Makes me glad I picked up Jersey too! Better pick for my skin tone.
This makes me miss Espiegle for some reason.
Probably because Espiegle was more versatile!
That’s true. I’m glad I got to purchase it after they discontinued it.
Hmm if it’s that light I’m not sure what to think of it. It does make your cheeks look very pretty though.
Thank you!
I LOVE this look on you Christine… soooo pretty!!!
Thank you!
Love it! It suits you, Christine! Oh btw, i’ve been meaning to ask you, would you know the closest shade of Guerlain Parure Gold Foundation for MAC NC35?
I would say #03 – I mix #02 and #03 as #03 is dark for me but #02 is light… and I’m between NC25/NC30.
Thank you!!!!!!!!! xo
This is pretty similar to Nar’s Unlawful blush, blended out! It’s a shame this took so much work, though Jersey has been going strong! Perhaps use as a topper? No idea. Your eyes stand out in blues so much, I’m not seeing blush! 😀 (beautiful, can tell you had fun!) 🙂
Jersey’s definitely a better choice for my skin tone!
quite a light one for my medium complexion… pretty shade nonetheless 🙂
Pretty for fairer skin tones, at least!
I see what you mean. It’s very subtle and almost blends in with your skin. I guess it’ll be good for a “no makeup” look but I think it’ll look better on lighter skin tones as well
Definitely one for fairer skin tones!
I wish this was a little more pigmented! These kinds of shades make me weak in the knees, I’m a sucker for peaches (even though they may not be the best for my complexion & don’t show up as much). I have MUG Smitten anyway, so I’ll pass!
MUG Smitten is SO similar 🙂
And has a better rating (A-)! 😀
I think I’d rather pick up MUG’s Smitten at some point. This isn’t “special” enough to me. At first I thought I may get this because I really like the idea of a whiter shimmer….but somehow it doesn’t translate the way I thought it would.
I like Smitten better, as I find it more versatile – you can get the same color here with a lighter hand or more color if desired (but it’s not like BRIGHT! orange so it’s not difficult to use).
Very pretty look you pulled together! I have to say, when you wear the blue and green eyeshadows, you look amazing!
As regard to the blush, I’m ultra fair, and I decided to pass up on it because my husband said he could barely tell I had it on. Plus, I am not really interested in a pastel peach blush for the holidays. 🙂
Thanks, Christina! 🙂
If it hardly showed up on you, I guess there wasn’t much chance of it showing up on me, lol!
lovely and subtle! this could be a perfect everyday colour. it complements your entire look so well, i LOVE the eye makeup <3
For some reason I really want this blush. I swatched it at a counter and I liked it but I am worried it’d be too pale on me.
Very natural for warm toned beauties!
Too light for me but Love the eye makeup!
Could it work for fair skins as an overall veil to “appear” like I have some color? Or is it too orange for that.
I think so!
The blush is pretty, but… DAT TEAL THO. Teal eyeshadow, teal eyeliner, teal top, all paired with soft peach shades…
*swoon*
😀
it looks lovely on you Christine, I’vejust picked up jersey so, I’ll give this one a miss. Did you review Jersey?
It does look lovely, but would it be a shade too orangey on fair skins?
Thanks for this review! I am extremely pale so I think Caresse will work for me! From the swatches, this looks almost identical to MAC’s Cream Soda from the Archie collection! =)
I like the idea of a blush that I can use without fear of ending up with clown cheeks! Even using a light hand, more often than not, I need to go back in with my foundation brush to tone the blush down. I try to be careful but getting a nice, sheer and even application of blush doesn’t seem to be my forte! Being really pale (MUFE Mat Velvet + #15, Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation 001 etc.) does not help. 😛
I’m sort of indifferent to the blush, but I’m a huge fan of your eye look!
pretty colour! Although I find the silver glitter is unnecessary
I think it’s lovely. It looks beautiful with the mint and blue eye look you’re wearing.
I love this shade! Your eye look is to die for
This blush is amazing. I have TF Love Lust and I think these two blushes look quite similar on me. Actually, Caresse brightens my face more.
FYI, I don’t have milky white skin but I am quite fair.
