Chanel Brun Agape, Noir Engimatique, Black Wood Stylo Yeux Eyeliners Reviews & Swatches
Brun Agape (943)
Chanel Brun Agape (943) Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner ($33.00 for 0.01 oz.) is a deeper bronze with subtle, warm reddish undertones and a faint, pearly sheen. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer, which adhered evenly and smoothly to my lash line without dragging or tugging on it. The texture was lightweight, creamy, and emollient without being too wet as it set to a long-lasting product within 10 seconds. It wore well for 10 hours with very minimal fading/thinning.

The Stylo Yeux formula is supposed to be a “waterproof, smudge-proof” eyeliner with a “gentle, soft” texture. I gave up on this formula bit ago, as the majority of shades I had tried had a really firm, stiff, and painful-to-use texture, but new releases have much improved!
They are much, much creamier without being too wet, so they didn’t transfer or migrate easily. The formula was easy (and not painful!) to use even on my waterline. The eyeliners lasted nine hours or more on me.

Noir Enigmatique (944)
Chanel Noir Enigmatique (944) Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner ($33.00 for 0.01 oz.) is a bluish-black base with very fine, multi-colored micro-shimmer. It had good color payoff in a single layer, which I felt needed a second layer to obtain that inkiness present in the pencil itself (or in the built-up swatch to the right). The consistency was smooth, lightly creamy without being prone to moving around (but could be smudged in the first few seconds), which made it comfortable to apply. It stayed on nicely for over 10 hours with very minimal fading/thinning over time.

Black Wood (945)
Chanel Black Wood (945) Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner ($33.00 for 0.01 oz.) is a deep, brown-tinted black with a semi-matte finish. It didn’t have a true sheen, but it definitely didn’t look flat and totally matte on my lash line either. It had opaque color coverage in a single stroke with a smooth, creamy texture with just enough slip to glide but set and stayed in place well. The majority of it was still intact after 12 hours of wear–very minimal thinning over time.

Great quality, as one would expect from Chanel. The shades are probably ones that most of us have in our stash already, I’m guessing. Noir Engimatique is at least a little bit more interesting, though. A really good bluish black liner isn’t so common!
The Brun Agape shade is just gorgeous – I love the sheen and the undertones. Really beautiful.
I’m with you Genevieve , “Brun Agape” is my Jam , I’m picking up “Jungle Green” on Tuesday.
Usually the performance is a bit dicey but the colours are ultra cool and unique.
We must be in upsidedown world.
These all seemed pretty creamy! Just by texture, none immediately had me regretting buying them, LOL.
Some good-looking neutral options there. It has occurred to me recently that I stopped wearing eyeliner at some point without even noticing that it had dropped out of my process. I have way too many nice eyeliners to allow that to continue — must make mental note to start using them again.
For me, Chanel’s Stylo Yeux formula has been one of the most reliable around. I have many of them and they wear really well for me. In many cases, I prefer this formula to the Marc Jacobs formula. I really like all three colours so likely will pick up at least two when I am in Seattle.
The shades look lovely! Christine are these Stylos the same formula as previous Stylos?
As far as I’m aware, the formula has not changed.
Thanks for confirming, Christine!
