Chanel Bel-Argus (667) Le Vernis Nail Colour ($27.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “metallic blue.” It’s a rich, medium-dark blue with a metallic finish. It has a lot of dimension and gets lighter and darker depending on the angle you hold your nails and what kind of lighting there is. I could only come up with one shade that was similar, but it is surprisingly similar: China Glaze Blue Bells, which ends up having a more foil-like finish, while Bel-Argus is very metallic.

It was opaque in two coats, and unlike my experience with Azure, brush strokes were subtle and tended to fade away from sight when the light hit the polish. This is more of that brushed metal finish, rather than just a streaky finish, and they were fairly controllable so they follow in a straight line. The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, so the polish flowed well across the nail. I normally get about a week of wear with Chanel’s formula with minor tip wear but no chipping.

It seems like Zoya’s Tart would be almost an exact dupe…I don’t know if you have this polish / have time to do a comparison, but it seems that way from pictures!

Though I know they aren’t really all that close–every time I see Bel-Argus I think of RBL Cuprum, sans the copper sparkle. They are both still beautiful though.

OMG, this metallic blue is so beautiful…looks gorgeous on your nails. It has a mesmerizing effect on me for some reason, can’t stop staring at it. I’m definitely gonna check this out!

I love the faraway hand picture and also how honest your reviews are!

if this wasn’t chanel I think I’d condemn it to the late 90s but because it is – LUST – damn marketing!

I like China Glaze’s Blue Bells Ring much better than this Chanel polih although they’re both gorgeous cobalt blue. You see no brush strokes with blue bells, but with this you can clearly see them. Also the metallic finish is kinda boring…

I’ve seen a few photos of Bel-Argus online and none of them truly capture how beautiful this shade is in person. It is more intense and has a subtle indigo shift. It sparkles in sunlight, too. I thought Azure would be my favorite of this collection, but I am way more in love with this one.

I ordered this and the Jade color immediately. Also got the Cool Gold e/s pencil and the green & blue, but I’m returning the blue, because it’s got a black base, which I do not prefer. The green is beautiful, vibrant. GAWGEOUS!

Is this anything like the blue metallic that OPI had with their spiderman collection last summer? I think it was called “Into the Night”.

Thanks,
XO
