Make Up For Ever #52L Aqua Eyes Liner Review, Photos, Swatches

Make Up For Ever #52L Aqua Eyes Liner ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “blue-green sheen.” It’s a green-tinged teal with a little undertone of blue and a subtle pearled sheen. If you have Urban Decay Covet, this may be too similar; Covet is ever-so-slightly greener and darker, while Tarina Tarantino Spark of Envy (you can see me wearing it here) is very nearly a dupe for this (at a certain angle, #52L appears to have a slightly greener tone, but it’s hard to tell and would, personally, call them 100% dupes). MAC Minted is darker, greener. MAC Float on By is slightly lighter.

This is a new and limited edition shade for summer, which is a bummer, because it’s a truly gorgeous shade, and it’s no wonder–I’m obsessed with Tarina Tarantino’s Spark of Envy, so it was no surprise that the moment I applied this, I was all “Oooh, ahhh,” about the color, but for some, Make Up For Ever is more accessible and easier to purchase.  It’s also a good alternative to the recently discontinued Covet by Urban Decay.

It had really good pigmentation in a single pass, and it was very easy to build it to fully opaque color in one and a half to two passes of the pencil across the lash line. The pencil glided on without tugging or pulling at the lash line, and it was a mix of waxy and creamy so it was easy to apply but still stayed put. It lasted nine hours well on my lash line without smudging.

I saw this in store and immediately thought of spark of envy (which I’m wearing today!) I might end up grabbing this anyway because I like the color and MUFE’s formula seems to wear a bit better on me than Tarina’s.

Ive been deciding whether or not I should be buying Covet or not, but since this looks so similiar, I may just go for this one instead. I am loving MUFE’s eyeliner formula! I hope you review 25L too!

Ooh, are those the LE Aqua Creams I see in that look? I want to compare the pale green with the pale green from the LE Maybelline Color Tattoos, may have to swatch the latter and then head to Sephora sometime soon.

Ohhh yes! I’ve been looking for an easily available teal eyeliner because I see TT Sparkle of Envy on you so much and I love it! Time to find out if the collection is already available here 🙂 Not really interested in the other pieces but this looks great!

This was already sold out at one Sephora I went to today. They just got it yesterday! I picked up a couple of the new Aqua Rouges (incredible) and 2 of the new Aqua Creams (so beautiful!).

I wasn’t able to get Spark of Envy – Sephora had sold out of it before I got to the store. So I will almost certainly be buying this beauty!

I love you Christine for being a Teal/Aqua hoarder as well! 🙂

This seems to be similar to Miliani’s Liquif-Eye in Aqua, but more on the green end.

Its a fantastic color, and I’m gonna have a hard time avoiding getting this if I see it at Naimies. *looks at pile of teal liners* >_>;;

So pretty! Christine, do you know if this is similar to their liner in 12L? I have that one, this looks like it could be somewhat like it? I’m a big fan of teal liner too. 😉

Wow, this looks like it really has a bold color to it. You’ve inspired me to try it. Can’t wait to pick it up later. I’ll let you know how it goes!

I tried this and it it wasn’t as pigmented as I hoped (then again my eyes were just freshly removed from some eyeshadow- still a bit damp, but odd). But how is this compared to Mac’s Blue Noon. (United Airlines I think, stole my make-up bag instead of my digital camera. Weirdos.)

You should really review and swatch the N.Y.C. waterproof eyeliners, the Prestige waterproof eyeliners, the Prestige total intensity(some bloggers have gone as far as to say it’s better), the Rimmel Scandaleyes waterproof, the Palladio precision eyeliners, the nyx slide on pencil, and (maybe)the waterproof black eyeliner pencil sold on milanoo.com to see how they compare with higher end ones.
