Chanel Accent (84) Joues Contraste Powder Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
Chanel Accent (84) Joues Contraste Powder Blush
Chanel Accent (84) Joues Contraste Powder Blush ($43.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “luminous pink beige.” It’s a softened, medium-dark rosy brown with neutral-warm undertones and a soft shimmer finish. The finish seemed more shimmery than a satin, but it doesn’t look like a full-on frost. Kevyn Aucoin Natura is warmer, lighter. NARS Douceur is lighter. MAC Baby Don’t Go is much lighter. MAC Stylish Me is darker, warmer. MAC Superb is warmer, more frosted. Burberry Earthy is browner, less shimmery. See comparison swatches.
When I opened the compact, it reminded me of a warmer Notorious–they aren’t dupes at all, just to make that crystal clear–as Accent came across as a complex, unusual color, but it is far browner than Notorious but something that might work for those who found Notorious to be too cool-toned or too gray. The texture was soft, silky-smooth, and finely-milled and yielded even, true-to-pan color with good color payoff. It could be applied heavily or softly, depending on application, but the color easily blended and diffused along the edges. It wore well for seven and a half hours and showed signs of fading after eight hours of wear.
Accent (84)
LELimited Edition. $45.00.

Wow thank u for reviewing this! I must say, that I don’t LOVE many blushes due to the fact that so many look clownish on me. This color is spot on to what my ‘dream’ blush color would be! I have yet to own anything Chanel due to price, but this right here may just make opening up my wallet easy! And thanks again…u rock!!
Definitely try and check it out in stores if you can, Dani – hopefully it lives up to your expectations! 🙂
Looks very much like the Sleek blush in Antique http://www.sleekmakeup.com/romance/antique-blush
Thanks for the heads up!
Oh also I am a very neutral nc20-25 …and this just looks amazing for my tone..and urs as well!
Must be ’cause we’re similar – I am NC25/NC30 and neutral-warm (not super warm)!
Too warm for me but the texture looks lovely.
Very silky for sure!
Will this show on nc 44 skin?
Probably not a lot of color – more of a highlighter, IMO, on deeper complexions. You might find it adds a little warmth.
Hi Christine. Is this the baked version? And does it lean warm or cool? Would it suit a b20 chanel nc25 mac?
sorry for all the questions, hope you’ll answer 🙂
you’re doing such a great job!
Hi Sara,
I do not think this is a baked version!
I think it would – for reference I am NC25/NC30!
Hi..This is the baked version …if you look at the .14 oz ..normally .21 oz
Hi Moni,
Thanks for sharing – interesting, because it doesn’t feel like the baked version at all!
Do the ingredients include mineral oil? If not it is the baked Euro formula.
Hi Gail,
I do not have a box for this!
If you’re in the US, you’ll be able to buy the regular US version containing .21 oz.
I’d be all over this shade if only my local Chanel counter carries the non-baked version. 🙁
🙁 Wish the formulas were consistent across the globe!
I bought my Accent at Nordstrom in So Cal and it is the US version containing .21 oz of product. It is just as smooth, silky, and buttery as we’ve come to expect of the US version of JC. I noticed that Christine lists it as .14 oz of product so I’m assuming Chanel sent her the baked version to review. What do you think, Christine?
Hi Eileen,
I don’t live near any counters (an hour or so away), so I couldn’t comment on it. The press office I get samples from is based in NYC.
Since NYC is so close to our good neighbor to the north, perhaps they mistakenly sent you the baked version which is what Canada gets. Or, perhaps they only had the baked version to send out as press samples. Who knows! Your JC’s lightly swirled appearance, in addition to its weight, is a dead give-away that it is the baked formula. The real question is why they’d send a US blogger the Rest of the World baked version especially since there is some difference in texture, pigmentation, and finish between the US and the RotW versions. Regardless, Accent is a gorgeous blush and looks absolutely lovely on you 🙂
It’s also possible that samples are distributed via the corporate office, which I imagine is in France? I know that even major brands here in the U.S. where corporate is elsewhere, press office samples actually come straight from the corporate office.
WOW this is gorgeous. I need to head to the counter to try this out, it looks like a perfect balance between pink and brown for me.
I hope it works out for you, Barbara! 🙂
Busy time coming up for you I see! (not that it’s ever been not busy). Can’t say whether I’ll get this or not, but at least I’m glad to see it’s not the usual peachy pink/pinky peach/corally pink (which I love and have plenty of, but guess I’m getting jaded b/c many cosmetics items pretty much look the same to me these days). Regardless, I’m looking forward to more eye candy here.
Holiday is crazy! So many new things but everybody likes to release 328947234 palettes, LOL!
Wow, beautiful color, but i kinda reminds me to mac warm soul ( which i already have )
I can kind of see a resemblance to Warm Soul!
Looks beautiful on you, but I fear it would be much too warm on me. I’ll stick with Notorious!
Thanks, Kate! Can totally see that. Notorious was horrid on me but so lovely on others – totally jealous!
I love colors like this. However, with my complexion, it’s hard to get certain colors to show up. Would this honestly show up on an nw43/nc50 skintone?
Probably not a lot of color – more of a highlighter, IMO, on deeper complexions. You might find it adds a little warmth.
I wish it didn’t have that shimmer to it. I would be all over it.
Aww! Maybe next time! Though I don’t think most of Chanel’s range is shimmer-free!
Beautiful! For fair complexions, do you think this could be used sort of like a bronzer/blush for contouring? It reminds me a little bit of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Mood Light.
It could definitely be used as a bronzer or blush for contouring, though if you really like a gray cast, then it will be too warm for contour!
Christine, do you think this s more like a light bronzer with pink tones (like some Guerlain Terracotta bronzers) than an actual blush? I use Notorious for contouring; could I use this for contouring or is it too rosy?
I do like the way it looks on your cheeks, though. Very warm and soft! I might cave and get it as well!
I think it could be used for contouring if you are neutral to warm – I tend to go for grayer products myself, but I like a fairly shadowy contour. Plenty of readers use and prefer bronzer for contouring, so I can see this working for that.
I’d love to find a color this with a touch more pink as a “neutral” blush for my face. As it is, I quite like this, so I’ll have to give it a look in stores. I suspect it’ll pull too bronzer-ish on me, but it’s worth a try.
Surely worth a peek 🙂 Let me know if it ends up working out for you, Veronica! Fingers crossed.
I stopped by the Chanel counter today, and I quite liked it a lot. I was very surprised at how pink it was in person, though that may be my coloring playing down the brown tone. I think it’s a tad too shimmery and warm to use as a contour on my fair skin, but it’s definitely on the Strongly Considering list for a good blush. Thank you for the great review! 🙂
Woo! Glad it might work for you as a blush. Happy to help, Veronica!
Hmmmm… It may be a little too beige for my NC30 skin tone…I’ll have to try it on in person. Thanks for the review!
I’m NC25/NC30 for reference 🙂
Isn’t this similar to Burberry Russet? A tinge less red and more shimmery but seems quite similar when worn I would think.
Russet is noticeably warmer on me – almost brighter/richer in color! http://www.temptalia.com/burberry-russet-01-blush-review-photos-swatches
Wow – love this shade! It looks great for autumn.
I’d love to see it on you, Danielle!
How does this compare to Chanel blush Tempting Beige? Looks similar
Hey Carolyn!
I don’t think I have that shade, unfortunately!
I have tempting beige and id say they are in the same family but not an exact match
I believe Chanel JC Mocca is a dup for Accent.
Yeah, I grabbed this sucker 🙂 before the review… Phew
Thanks a bunch for kicking out these Chanel reviews so quickly!
My pleasure, Wendy! xo
That looks great on you. I’m probably too dark for it.
Thanks, Liz!
It’s definitely not a blush for all skin tones, unfortunately!
I’d still give it a look at the counter if you happen to pass a Chanel counter. 🙂 The Nordstrom associate I was speaking to swatched it against her skin (which was about NC42-45ish), and it showed up surprisingly well. I expected mostly the shimmer to stand out, but a fair bit of the pink showed up, too.
If it isn’t A+ by Temptalia, I am not getting it. 😉
xx
Thanks!
hi christine, is this similar to mac stereo rose, mac porcelain pink and/or chanel rose ecrin? thanks! :))
This is browner than all three of those 🙂
not on topic but can you tell me where you got those beautiful earrings? too pretty for words!
Here you go! 🙂

Is this the Holiday 2013 blush that is LE?
Yes!
I was just playing with this blush at Nordstrom. It’s so pretty! I’m around NC50 and it is more of a highlight but it deposits a bit of color and some beautiful sparkles. I really like it!
So awesome to hear, Fancie! Thank you for sharing what it looks like on deeper skin 🙂
Wonder why Chanel sent you the European formula of this blush. There is a USA pressed version (6grams) because I just bought one.
Thanks for the review! It looks beautiful on you. Just curious, how does this compare to MAC Poised?
Poised is more orange, lighter! http://www.temptalia.com/mac-poised-blush-review-photos-swatches
How does this compare to rose bronze? They look similar online, are they different enough in person to get both?
I don’t think I have that!
Would you say this is a dupe for Mac’s By Candlelight? Thanks!
Accent is much darker!
How does this compare to BobbiBrown’s Twighlight blush that came int he duo compact with a pink color last fall. I think that one was called Bahama Brown when it was in the permanent line. It was a surprise to me that it looked so perfect on my very fair, redheaded skin tone. Its like a mauvy brown that brings out my skintone and the green in my eyes. I’ve been looking for a dupe ever since finding it, one, because it will be used up quickly, and two, because although the color is perfect, the texture is not the usual Bobbi Brown silky, its kind of hard and tough to pick up on the brush. This is the first review of a blush color that seems to be close, is it? I don’t ususally use Chanel because of the fragrance, but if the color is perfect I might have to try to live with it!
Hey Ellen!
Yes, I think you are right – Bahama Brown is very similar 🙂
Lovely! Do you know if this will be released in Europe? Also wondering how it compares til Benefit Rockateur. Thanks!
From it sounds like, it may have already released! Rockateur is warmer & lighter!
Hey Christine!
Sorry potentially make you dig through your stash but do you know how this compares to Chanel ‘Rose Ecrin’ in the permanent collection? I’ve lusted after that for a while but can’t figure out if these are similar enough for me to just indulge in the limited edition. Thank you!
Rose Ecrin is a bit lighter, less brown 🙂
I’m treating myself to at least a couple of Chanel’s blushes this Christmas. I’ve been meaning to for ages, just haven’t gotten to it yet.
You should ask Chanel’s PR to send you the US version, you are based in the States after all. On these pictures EU version looks very worm, not pink at all. 🙁
Hi Liv,
This is what Chanel’s U.S. department sent me – can’t really do anything else when that’s what they have!
