If readers talk up a brand that’s new (or new to me), that’s a huge way to get my attention, especially when I see it randomly mentioned as a favorite. Otherwise, good campaign visuals, diverse product ranges, and a strong direction in branding.

There’s no one that sticks out in my mind! I’m always impressed by the number of new entrants in the industry, but as long as they’re done well, I’m happy to see it.
They’re my passion. I totally dig mattes in an eyeshadow look, but ugh, a good shimmer? Swoon-worthy. I’ll get excited over smooth, satiny shimmer or intense, metallic shimmer. Give me all of it!! I do find that sometimes thicker metallics can crease, though, which is obviously annoying!

I think the industry could use more mid-end brands in general, particularly a brand that’s more color-focused and another that is more environmentally friendly with more ethereal and sheerer textures/finishes but in formulas and ranges that work on a diverse range of skin tones.

For things like hair care/skincare, I am more apt to stick with it, but it has to be truly exceptional. I’ll often repurchase at some point, but there’s a good chance I’ll try other products in the same category (e.g. moisturizer). For makeup, no, never, LOL… but it is kind of my job to keep...
