Burberry Optic White (000) Wet & Dry Glow Eyeshadow ($29.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a bright, metallic white with neutral undertones. Applied dry, it was semi-opaque, and applied damp, it was more opaque, though not fully opaque. The texture has an almost dry feel to the touch, but it is very smooth and blendable. It wore well for eight hours on me before creasing slightly. Inglot #453 (P, $6.00) is cooler. Dior Lune (001) (P, $31.00) is darker. MAC White (P, $21.00) is cooler. MAC A Waft of Grey #1 (P, $21.00) is darker. Make Up For Ever ME122 Snow (P, $21.00) is more muted. Make Up For Ever D124 Crystalline White (P, $21.00) is more muted. Guerlain Cygne Blanc #2 (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker, more muted. MAC Smoky Black Friday #1 (LE, ) is darker. Guerlain Les Nuees #2 (LE, ) is less shimmery. NYX Frostbite (P, $6.00) is cooler. Viseart Yves (P, ) is less shimmery, darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Burberry Tea Rose (200) Wet & Dry Silk Eyeshadow ($29.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a muted, medium mauve-pink with a pearly shimmer to it. The texture was soft and finely-milled, but it was dusty to work with where the color was very prone to sheering out to near-nothing on the lid without some sort of base for it to cling to. It is supposed to be sheerer, but buildable, applied dry, and then more “saturated” applied damp; it was semi-opaque applied damp, but I couldn’t build up the color any more than that. It started to fade after seven hours on me. MAC Pink Frontier (P, $21.00) is warmer. Chanel Jardin Zen #3 (LE, ) is lighter, brighter. Aveda Bare Bellis (P, $14.00) is warmer. MAC Lingering Dusk (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer. Surratt Beauty Ingenue (P, $20.00) is more shimmery. Givenchy Tentation #3 (P, ) is darker. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Lover #6 (LE, ) is warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Burberry Nickel (304) Wet & Dry Silk Eyeshadow ($29.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark gray with silver shimmer that gives it a more frosted finish overall. It was semi-sheer to semi-opaque whether applied dry or damp; it seemed to get a touch darker when applied damp but tended to dry down to a slightly lighter color. The texture was soft to the touch but a little dusty to work with. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours on me. MAC Knight Divine (P, $16.00) is darker. bareMinerals Abracadabra (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter. MAC A Waft of Grey #3 (P, $21.00) is darker. NARS Bad Behaviour (LE, $24.00) is more shimmery. Milani Bella Gray (10) (P, $4.49) is more shimmery. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Enigma #2 (P, ) is more shimmery, darker. Urban Decay Slanted (P, $18.00) is more pigmented, cooler. Buxom Cool Caviar (P, $12.00) is more shimmery. Viseart Cool Matte #8 (P, ) is less shimmery, darker. Rouge Bunny Rouge Trumpeter Koel (P, $19.00) is less shimmery, cooler. Viseart Diane (P, ) is darker. Smashbox Obsidian (P, ) is darker. Laura Mercier Gunmetal (LE, $23.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Burberry Antique Blue (305) Wet & Dry Silk Eyeshadow ($29.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a deepened, blackened gray with a cool, bluish tinge and a pearl finish. It had semi-opaque, slightly softened color when applied dry, which intensified to opaque coverage with more depth when applied damp. The texture was soft, blendable, and not too dusty to work with, so it was one of the better ones I tried. The color stayed in place for eight hours on me. MAC Blue Spruce (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery. Guerlain Les Aquas #1 (P, ) is less shimmery. Chanel Fascination #4 (P, ) is less shimmery. Bobbi Brown Gunmetal (LE, $21.00) is darker. bareMinerals Do Not Disturb (P, ) is darker. theBalm Sexy Stacey (P, $16.00) is more shimmery. Disney by Sephora Flotsam (LE, ) is lighter. Hourglass Graphite #4 (P, ) is more shimmery, lighter. Urban Decay Dagger (P, $18.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Burberry Stone Blue (307) Wet & Dry Silk Eyeshadow ($29.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a muted, medium faded blue with a satin sheen. The texture was on the powdery side, even though it was very soft and blendable, where the powder didn’t stick well to the skin. It had sheer coverage applied dry, as anticipated, and damp application was only semi-sheer with a more noticeable sheen. It faded within six hours of wear and looked uneven applied. CoverGirl Ice Flame (345) (P, $7.99) is lighter. Make Up For Ever I112 Chrome (P, $21.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Oh no! I ordered some Burberry shadows 2 days ago. I’ve been wanting to try for the longest time, and finally found a deal —got 22% off (10% Saks sale +12% mr. rebates). I got Nude 002 since you gave it an A+ Temptalia recommends, and everyone keeps raving nonstop about it, the Smokey quad, and Stone Blue. The blue looked so pretty, and I thought Burberry could get it right. I’m going to try with primer or cream base and if it doesn’t work, it’s going back. Are you going to review any more shades/quads?

Owch!!! For the price, or even if a whole lot less in $’s, these are just horrible. Makes me suddenly appreciate my new UD palette quite a bit more, because yeah, these make that one shine in comparison.

I was prepared to love Nickel and Stone Blue, but now that I have seen the swatches and the dupes – I am disappointed. I prefer the Cool Caviar from Buxom at more than half the price of Nickel and the Stone Blue is way too pale… Antique Navy does not seem to have much navy in it at all. A shame.

A shame about Tea Rose and Stone Blue–those seem like basics, to me. Kind of a warning sign that those aren’t up to snuff.
