Bobbi Brown Raspberry Shimmer Lip Gloss Review, Photos, Swatches (Fall 2010)
Bobbi Brown Raspberry Shimmer Lip Gloss
Bobbi Brown Denim & Rose: Raspberry Shimmer Lip Gloss
Bobbi Brown Raspberry Shimmer Lip Gloss ($20.00 for 0.14 fl. oz.) is a softened rosy brown with light pink micro-shimmer. It’s not at all raspberry on me (it’s not even very pink!), which was kind of disappointing as an avid consumer of raspberries (as in the fruit!).
One of the best attributes of Bobbi Brown’s lipgloss is they’re longer wearing than your usual lip gloss–I get around three to four hours myself. It’s a thicker, stickier gloss, and I’ve yet to run into an ultra opaque, pigmented shade–but this is the brand’s credo. (I’m actually surprised that these are touted as “non-sticky shine” on the brand’s website, because I find them rather tacky!)
I still have the same complaints I did the last time I reviewed the Shimmer Lip Glosses: not enough product for the price (why, by ounce, is it as expensive as Chanel?) and the plastic-bristled brush applicator doesn’t do it for me. I find it a little stubby and prickly; I’d prefer something with more length and softer feel.
I do love how long and well these lipglosses wear, though, and they’re great to layer over your favorite bolder, more opaque lipsticks for fun color combinations. Luckily, I like my glosses stickier (always makes for longer wear), so I have no issues with the texture. But I am finding it curious they’re supposed to be non-sticky. Raspberry is surprisingly pigmented for the range–it’s semi-sheer to semi-opaque–and delivers nice, even color and shimmer coverage.

RECOMMENDATION: If you like your lipglosses on the sheerer side and are looking for muted pinky-brown with a healthy dose of shimmer, Raspberry might be the shade your heart (and lips) long for. If you like your gloss non-sticky or opaque, I’d recommend you try before you buy.

Hmmmmmmm, raspberries!! (Pssst… I think sth got mixed up with the pics)
I don’t like BB glosses, they’re too sticky and gloopy, so I will pass.
I agree! not really a raspberry color, more like a dusty mauve color..which I love love love love!
I love the gloss, but the colour on your cheeks is what I noticed the most. What is it?!?!? It’s gorgeous!
I believe it’s Chanel Pink Explosion!
This is a pretty gloss! I just really hate sticky glosses..
Pretty color, I never tried anything from Bobbi Brown but I want to try some of the eye shadows & lipsticks
I tried Bombshell by Mac lipsticks and it was too hot pink so I exchanged it for Please Me a better pink for me.
BB glosses are one of my favorites, except for that horrible brush. I hope she decides to change the brush to a sponge tip applicator one day, that would be heavenly !
I pass on BB glosses. Their extreme stickiness could be acceptable when you think they stay on longer than your average gloss, but the brush !!??? Come on, how dare they sell such a ridiculous thing ??
That plus the tiny tube and the price tag, no thanks. I’ll stick to my Dior Ultra Gloss : more product, a usable and nicely shaped brush, intense colors.
I like the way Ultra Glosses feel, but they don’t last more than an hour on me 🙁
This reminds me of rose sugar shimmer gloss but with brighter shimmer. I love BB glosses, they taste great and are very long lasting. The brush is annoying but I can live with it lol.
This is pretty.
I have one of those but since they are still not changing their applicator I’ll sit out. Plus, it is too expensive for the quantity as you said.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t love the applicator!
I can’t stand them either. 😛
I despise goopy glosses, so with this price tag, I would give it a pass, but it does look stunning on you though. But I have to agree with Daria, the colour on your cheeks are just stunning. I love your pic. I think it just looks beautiful all around.
Thank you 😀
