Do you wear lipgloss/lipstick alone or together?

Do you wear lipgloss/lipstick alone or together? What do you prefer? What’s your usual?

.

I prefer and typically wear lipstick with gloss–I’m not a huge fan of either alone. Sometimes I wear lipgloss alone, but not usually!

more often than not, alone because i hate mixing products in their packaging! if i have a gloss on top, out comes the lip brush and i’ll scoop the gloss applicator as many times as i need to in order to get a workable amount of product on my hand.

For the most part I just wear lipgloss alone everyday. When I wear lipsticks I always pair it with a gloss. I don’t like how lipsticks look alone.

Dianna Avatar

I usually wear them alone unless I feel like I need to amp up a certain lipstick or if I want to change the finish (I always top frosts with a gloss b/c I HATE frosty lips). I don’t like to fuss too much, especially b/c it’s tougher to re-apply two different products throughout the day. Love to see all of your lip combos though, Christine!

It definitely depends! If it’s just a regular lipstick, then yeah, but if it’s a lustre, which gives a nice gloss, then no! Same with matte; what’s the point of matter if you’re going to leave it that way, haha.

Hi,
I usually wear lipstick and lipgloss alone because my lips feel too thick with both on.. I love Maybelline’s Jade Colorsensational lipstick. As for lipgloss, my usual is NYX round lipgloss in Kiss.

NEVER together!
i’m either this or that! i don’t like the way lipgloss changes the color of my beloved lipsticks. i’m more of a lipstick fan btw 🙂

Kitty Avatar

I wear it alone and together. When I m wearing a creamy lipstick, I skip the lipgloss.
I have a MAC lipgloss that I wear alone which stays on very long.

I agree with Vickie on the gloss enhancing the lipstick, although, I tend to be drawn to gloss more often and have way more glosses than lipsticks. I really like reds or dark pinks in gloss cuz it adds colour to your natural color and it’s quick & easy!

Mora Avatar

i do only wear lipgloss or lipstick. if i wear that im combination, it’s like the lipstick gets some kind of…uhm…slippery. it feels strange, so i don’t like it.

I don’t wear gloss that often. Usually I wear lipstick alone, or layer gloss over it, but i NEVER wear gloss without something, even if its just a layer of a nude lipstick like MACS Hue, to bring out the color. My lips are chapped, bitten, nasty enough to where i don’t want to call any attention to them bare.

Most of the time, alone.

I’m not a huge fan of gloss on top of lipsticks because you get this goopy mess that sinks into your lip lines if you put bit more than three dots of it. Also, I don’t like lipstick residue on my lipgloss applicator.

Unless a gloss has the ablity to change my lipcolour, I don’t wear gloss on its own. I’m not a huge gloss fan.

I defintely like to wear lipstick just the way it is – there’s so many different finishes to them, they’ll never be boring!

Mostly I wear them alone, or better I wear lipstick alone. I’m not a fan of lipgloss. I prefer lipstick because I want to feel comfortable and lipgloss is just too sticky.
It’s only for the super important events that I wear both.

Hend Avatar

I always prefer to wear lipstick and gloss together , for extra coverage and dimension , but sometimes I wear a lipstick alone or a gloss

Leea Avatar

i strongly dislike lipgloss, I just wear a glazed lipgloss or something like that : )
i don’t like matte lipstick so I never wear that !

It usually depends on my mood. I mostly wear Colored Lipglass alone during the day. Lipstick at night, sometimes with a touch of Clear Lipglass.

Cherokee Avatar

Either or. I am actually more of a gloss person because of my two tone lips. However, there are some lipsticks that alone don’t look that great on me. Lipgloss gives it that extra pop. I have two red colored Chanel lipsticks that I wear alone.

Malena Avatar

I almost always wear both, very rarely I choose to wear lipstick or gloss alone. My lips are rather pigmented, so most glosses alone won’t show up. On the other hand lipsticks don’t provide enough shine for my liking, that’s why I like to layer gloss on top.

lazeny Avatar

I don’t like mixing lip products, especially lip gloss and lipstick, always the colors from my lipstick sticks to my doe foot applicator and mixes in the gloss tube. That’s why I prefer lip products alone. But lately I stopped wearing lip gloss and only wear lipstick all the time.

Jess Avatar

Always alone, unless I’m trying to make something work for me. I try to look for lipsticks that have the effect of a gloss anyway ex: Benefit silky finish lipsticks.

Melissa Avatar

I love lipstick and I love lipgloss, but not together. When I have worn the two together in the past, I felt like there was too much product on my lips.

Martina Avatar

alone. i don’t like the way they mix in my lips and in the containers (the lipgloss sponge is dirty of lipstick??? OH MY GOD!!!!) lol
anyway, i don’t really wear lipgloss. i hate the way it feels so sticky… so i just own 2 or 3 but never use them.

sugardancingstar Avatar

i never wear them together. i hate getting my lipgloss wands messy with the lipstick, and also fixing up the liploss or lipstick during the day is just so much easier with only one or the other.

i also only wear lipstick when my hair is down so that my hair doesn’t get stuck in any lipgloss.

monika-luiza Avatar

depends on the lipstick, when I buy lipstick especially because of it’s finish I wouldn’t like to change the finish by adding lipgloss. but I like to pair nude lipsticks with gloss as most of them are on the dryer side.

Jane Avatar

I usually wear lipstick by itself. I put a gloss on top only when I feel it needs a little extra something for evenings out or something like that and I want to change or enhance the colour. I don’t typically like lipglosses on their own because I feel they are too sticky. But there are always exceptions. I like the Buxom lipglosses by themselves. And maybe some MAC dazzleglass cremes. I think those are fine by itself.

Lizz M. Avatar

Lipstick alone. I’m not a huge fan of glossy lips. If i’m wearing them together it’s mostly for amping up a lip color or look overall.

Catherine Avatar

It really just depends on the look I’m going for. I’ll wear whatever works on that particular day. But if I have a lipstick/lipgloss color that I am totally in love with, why would I ruin it with combining colors?

Sarah M Avatar

I often wear lipstick alone but because my lips have uneven pigmentation, if i’m wearing gloss I like to put either a lip pencil or lipstick underneath to create a better base.

Leenie Avatar

Most of the time I wear my lipstick & lip gloss together but when I wear my favorite lipstick Bronzilla by MAC I don’t like messing it up with a lip gloss

xMissxAndristx Avatar

depends on the occasion, normal everyday: gloss. standing in for my fiance’s personal assistant: lipstick. date night: both.

Purple Butterfly Avatar

I wear lipstick alone…only on special occasion i wear with gloss. I only own lipglosses frm MAC & find it very sticky…so thats the reason i seldom wear it with gloss.

Hilana Avatar

I have a ton of glosses, but strangely, I am not a gloss fan at all. I totally hate the feel of a gloss on my lips and prefer my lips to feel “naked”. So a light weight lipstick that does not feel too greasy is my ideal lip product. 🙂

Petra Avatar

Usually I wear them seperately. I quite like the look of only gloss or only lipstick, but my main reason is that I just can’t handle so many layers on my lips. I don’t like the feel of it (I can handle tons of eyemakeup though), and my lips are pretty pigmented so I find it looks silly when I talk and you can see the line where the gloss/lipstick ends. I find it far more visible if I’m wearing both.
Also I have allergies or colds often, so I seem to be rubbing off the product when I blow my nose. 🙁
Also, I find men don’t prefer a woman having too much on their lips (not visually, but technically :)), and I don’t like mixing products out of the tube – thus too much trouble for me. 🙂

Jennifer Avatar

i usually wear them alone because i don’t like how lipglosses can change the color of my lipsticks but lately i’ve been wearing them together because i do like how the lipstick changes the look of the lipgloss versus wearing lipgloss alone. i’m a total lipstick girl all the way!
