Bobbi Brown Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick Review, Photos, Swatches

Bobbi Brown Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick
Bobbi Brown Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick

Bobbi Brown Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick ($46.00 for 0.40 oz.) is described as a “soft, warm pink glow.” It’s a muted, medium-dark taupe-brown with warm undertones and pink and bronze shimmer that gives it a more metallic sheen. Bobbi Brown Nude Glow (LE, $46.00) is less shimmery, darker. Chanel Accent (84) (LE, $45.00) is less shimmery, darker. MAC Taupe Shape (, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler. MAC Superb (LE, $30.00) is lighter, warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

I was expecting to review the newest Shimmer Brick for summer/fall, but I received this shade (I honestly have been so overwhelmed with new products releasing that I just photographed and reviewed without a lot of thought!), and it was only when I started putting together the written review did I notice! Oh, well, it’s a long-time favorite and has been out for awhile, so no harm in a full review, right? 🙂 Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick formula is an intensely shimmered set of five strips of shades that allow you to customize the overall color (use the top half for a pinker, darker hue, while you can use the bottom half for a lighter, warmer hue) or individually. Together, they are richly pigmented and very shimmery, which gives a beautiful glow to the skin, but it can be over-applied and then emphasize pores. I like using a fan or feathery brush and a lighter hand to build up the shimmer as desired to minimize the chance of overdoing it. I felt like this particular shade was easier to apply than some of the other Shimmer Bricks I’ve tried, almost as if it was smoother with finer shimmer. This may be more of a blush, bronze, or highlighter depending on your natural skin tone. On me, it wore well for eight hours.

I have Ofra’s Blush Stripes in Illuminating, that is similar to this: It’s very intense and shimmery, and has stripes in pink, pearl/white, gold and rose gold. It’s $35 and Cruelty Free, if any readers are looking for a CF alternative.

Nice to see this one lives up to its hype. BTW, if you can’t shell out the bucks for Bobbi Brown, Revlon has a dupe called Cheek Highlighting Palettes that you can find in drugstores or on their website. I haven’t tried either one, but I hear people say there are a lot of similarities, and the Revlon one is less shimmery

The Revlon is nowhere near this shimmery. However, the Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips are fairly similar, and 1/3 the price! There are also 6 different shades, and if I’m not mistaken, there’s supposed to be a dupe for this particular one.

An ignored product begging for attention!

This shimmer brick was the first one that I purchased from BB and it is more universally flattening IMO since I’m NW20-25. I like to use some of the shades on my eyes.

The BB Pink shimmer brick is cool-toned and works better for me in winter. If you’re thinking of the newest one (?) Sunset Pink (Telluride) – it’s worth a look because I find it to be a more complex but subtle version of the Pink Quartz.

The one aspect I like about this product is the variety of shades to use in different ways.

I love this one! I have a shimmer brick- nectar ,I think.. I don’t find I like it too much much. But , this one looks gorgeous.

It is. I think I just forget about it and it is more pigmented. I like this one too! But, I,may wait for your review on the newest one. Do you plan to review it soon?

Oh ok..no worries! There are counters near me. I saw Debra’s comment above. Its made me curious about the two. I’ll have to check them out next time I get to the mall. 🙂

Hi, Alys. Physician’s Formula has a few options. The closest is Shimmer Strips Custom Bronzer, Blush & Eye Shadow — It comes in several shade combinations. I haven’t tried any yet, so I’m not sure which is best for fair skin. I suspect Vegas Strip and maybe Malibu Strip.

The rest I’ll mention are in the same vein, and each have several shimmers, and come in a couple of tone variations each. I’ve used them on my very fair skin and I don’t find them to be too shimmery or dark. Touch of Glow Palette, Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Custom Nude Palette for Face & Eyes, Nude Wear Glowing Nude Palette, and Shimmer StripsCustom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner Nude Collection in Natural Nude Eyes. The last one is really light, and I use it on my face for highlighting much more than my eyes. It doesn’t have a pink blush shade, though.

Alys – I am extremely fair (neutral tone) and I own this – it is definitely not too much color! I can wear it as a blush if I build it up with a denser brush, but I can also wear over my regular blush and it is not too dark at all. It is shimmery but not sparkly – I like a pretty subdued but polished look for work, and when I wear this I never think it looks overdone or too much shimmer for a professional environment. I am under 30 so that should be taken into consideration, but I think this is a nice option for fair skin.

At one time, I had quite the collection of these.(bronze, apricot, rose, beige, wild rose, sandstone, gold and a holiday party version) Then I took a break!. I recently purchased the latest one ,”Sunset Pink” I was a bit disappointed in it. I think the combo of pink ,light bronze, and pale gold reads too light and too sallow on me.
My favorite ones are still Wild Rose and the original Bronze one.

I kinda like this one, but I think I need to slow down on highlighters for a bit… Unless I can find one this kind of intensity/sheen, but in a cool-toned, pale pink with silver/white pearl, I have more than enough to last a lifetime!

Christine can I ask how you made the first swatch? Dragged a finger/sponge through all the colors? It looks so beautiful on you. I have the LE BB Pink Glow highlighter and I love it’s metallic look and I’m not even afraid of over doing it lol. Does the finish of this compare to that?
