Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick
Bite Beauty Molasses Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “rich toffee.” It’s a muted, medium-dark peachy-brown with warm undertones and a satin sheen. Bite Beauty Meringue Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “peachy nude.” It’s a light-medium, pinky-peach with warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had mostly opaque coverage with a light-medium consistency that seemed to emphasize the natural texture of the lips slightly. It could have applied a little more evenly. This shade wore for four and a half hours, but some color pulled into lip lines over time. IT was neither drying nor hydrating. Bite Beauty Café (DC, $24.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Bite Beauty Verbena Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “rose terracotta.” It’s a muted, medium-dark plum with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had good pigmentation with a lightly creamy texture that pulled but didn’t drag (it was firmer in the tube), but it seemed less forgiving applied as it made my lips look almost dry, though it didn’t feel as clingy as it looked! This shade wore for four and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating. ColourPop Mosh Pit (LE, $7.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). Bite Beauty Chai Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “mauve brown.” It’s a muted, medium-dark rosy plum with warm undertones and a satin sheen. The color payoff was nearly opaque, while the texture was lightly creamy and didn’t tug on the lips. The formula wasn’t hydrating, but it wasn’t drying either. On me, the color wore for four and a half hours. ColourPop Mosh Pit (LE, $7.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). KVD Beauty Lolita II (P, $19.00) is warmer (95% similar). Formula Overview
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is supposed to have “bold, creamy color” with “extreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear.” The majority of the range is very pigmented–typically opaque with one pass–with a few shades being semi-opaque but usually buildable. All 34 shades are shimmer-free and vary being a soft satin finish to a natural finish (light shine but not glossy). The consistency is very lightly creamy to lightly creamyu with some shades requiring light-medium pressure and can pull the lip a bit when gliding it across the lips, though the color doesn’t appear ragged and the bullet itself doesn’t feel stiff (while other shades applied without tugging, so check individual shade reviews!) The majority of the shades I’ve tested have been lightly hydrating to non-drying and fairly comfortable to wear for the long-haul. They wear longer than average, from four to eight hours, depending on the intensity and propensity of the shade to stain.
In comparison to the Luminous Creme formula: The level of color payoff and lemony scent are the two things that are similar, but they feel quite different on. If you have drier lips and need the intense hydration that the Luminous Creme formula offered, I don’t know if you’re going to like these. The Luminous Creme formula had a thicker consistency with a very creamy texture that glided on and never tugged at all, and the thicker consistency paired with the glossier finish was more forgiving on lips as it didn’t emphasize lines, natural texture, dryness, or flaking. Some had issues with the Luminous Creme formula bleeding/feathering and shorter-wear due to the amount of slip (high), and the Amuse Bouche formula has much, much less slip, so the wear is longer. I didn’t typically experience bleeding/feathering with the Luminous Creme formula, and that is also true with Amuse Bouche, but I would expect less with this more satin-finish formula for most (but not all). The scent seemed slightly stronger in the Amuse Bouche range, but it wasn’t noticeable after I was done applying the color.

I have 3 of the dupes for Molasses already, so I’m set there. Wow, I didn’t realize Chai and Verbena are so close! Will have to swatch in store, but leaning towards Chai, hope I don’t end up with both!
Fingers crossed you can pick one and not both 😉
Chai looks lovely, and the names make me hungry.
It’s a pretty shade!
Chai was on my list, ill probably add Verbana too! ?
Woohoo!
This confirmed my suspicions: I’m grabbing Chai! It looks gorgeous on you, by the way.
Yay!
Thanks, Marta!
I love Molasses,Verbena, and ,Chai! My first order with this formula should be coming to my house today. I feel like the luminous cream formula looked more smoothing on the lips though. So, I’m going to do a little comparison before I go buying a bunch. I have really been thinking about the whole group of Jam, Nori, and maple though. love those! I also am liking my sample of Radish. But, I think I prefer the original formula. I suppose I’m not going to bring them back though.
Good idea to do a comparison! Keep me posted on how you feel either way!
Chai is my favorite, but these look pretty dupable to me.
Good news for your wallet!
How does Meringue compare to Tom Ford Pink Dusk? It looks very dupable.
Sorry, I don’t think I have that shade!
They look good on you but Chai especially so ?.
Thanks, Claire!
I love Verbena and Chai. Molasses is really pretty as well, but I have Grunge and a couple other similar shades. Meringue is a bit too light for me.
Out of this set, I really like Chai the best. But seeing how Molasses, Verbena and Chai seem to “melt” into one another in their being far more similar than not, and that Molasses is a dupe of Royally Riotous, I just don’t know that I need it. As for Meringue, I do have MAC Reel Sexy. Meringue appears softer and perhaps pinker than Reel Sexy, or am I seeing things?
I love Molasses and Chay!
Molasses, Verbena, and Chai all make me swoon. Chai especially seems to strike such a good color balance! Darn. I had just convinced myself not to buy any of these…
I went to Sephora on purpose on Friday just to check out these new lipsticks. My store didn’t have any of the new ones in the usual display, altho the usual display had wording right on the display saying the new line would be out March 4. So I asked about the new ones and they told me yes, they had them – they were in a special display at the front of the store.
The special display had a sign telling me about the 35 new colors and displaying NINE of them. NINE colors of the 35 new ones, and not a single one that was even in the color family I was interested in. I don’t want to buy a lipstick without being able to sample the color so I guess whenever my Sephora store actually gets ALL the available colors, I’ll try again. I was really disappointed, considering I’d made a special trip to check them out and select the color I thought worked best for me.
None of these shades are for me, but I really like Verbena and Chai on you. I’ve been testing my mini- Radish. I wanted to ask you, do you photograph your lipsticks right after you put them on? Radish looks glossy and in about 5 minutes it’s fully set into a demi-matte on me. This may be drier lips but it’s not nearly as glossy as your photos after it sets up. Also I didn’t notice this before but you have a random u stuck onto the word creamy part way through your formula description.
I’m struggling with the Amuse Bouche formula because it seems to bleed into vertical lip lines on the top lip for me which the Luminous Creme never did for all it’s slip and transfer. I haven’t heard anyone else complain about this, so maybe it’s remnants of food oils or lip balm causing the issue. Other than that I like it but I prefer satin to full on gloss lipsticks on my smaller drier lips! RIP Luminous Creme!
Just love the Molasses colour – adore browny colours for lipsticks. Verbena is pretty similar to Molasses as well. Love them both.
Oh… thank you for reminding me about Nude Nuance from the Maybelline line! I had forgotten about that shade, and will probably wear it tomorrow now. LOL.
Hey Chrisitine,
I’ve been a lurker for 3 years and wanted to come out of hiding! I check back at least once daily to see what’s going on.
Recently I bought meringue on a whim – I love the colour despite it settling into lip lines over time. Just wanted to say thanks! Always enjoy your posts.
<3 a Canuck
Molasses is a total win for me!
How does Verbena compare to Nars Dolce Vita Velvet Matte pencil?
I tried using the Swatch comparison tool, but the picture added for the matte pencil is actually of the Dolce Vita lipstick! :O
Ow Verbena and especially Chai look like they would suit me perfectly! Beautiful!
I was debating between Chai and Molasses. Molasses is brown when switched but doesn’t look brown on the lips. A very wearable nude shade. Chai seemed more dupes let so I passed on that one.
How does Chai compare with the Maybelline’s Touch of Spice, colour wise? It seems similar.
