Bite Beauty Bronze/Pepper Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duo Review, Photos, Swatches
Bite Beauty Bronze/Pepper Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duo
Bite Beauty Bronze/Pepper Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duo ($14.00 for 0.10 oz.) features the most dramatic layered result of the duos, as the coppery top coat really changes the color of the rosy plum lipstick quite a bit. If you like more metallic, pigmented color, you may also find that this duo is better suited for wearing the metallic shade alone, as it did over a lot more coverage.
Each of the Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duos includes one shimmery shade and one cream shade. The cream shade is part of the permanent range of Amuse Bouche lipsticks. Per the brand’s description, the shimmery shade is supposed to be a “foiled top coat,” though you can wear either shade on its own. I love that Bite has really affordable options during the holidays; I think these are a great way to try the brand’s Amuse Bouche formula, but they’re fitting with the holiday season in a fun, practical way. I had no issues with stability of the smaller-sized lipsticks when applying directly from the tube either, which can be an issue with minis.

Bronze is a medium-dark copper with warm, brown undertones and a fine, metallic sheen. The texture was smoother than I thought it would be, given the shimmer content, but it was lightly emollient, glided on easily, and spread the shimmer across the lips evenly. This was also a much, much more pigmented shade on the lips compared to the other top coats in the holiday duos, as it was semi-opaque. Layering with this shade was still possible, but it had a stronger effect than the others, where it noticeably altered the color, undertone, and finish of the underlying lip color (in the case of Pepper). It lasted for four and a half hours on its own, was lightly hydrating, and did not have any issues with shimmer migrating over time. Smashbox XO, Vlada (LE, $24.00) is cooler (90% similar). Pepper is a muted, medium-dark rosy plum with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had rich color payoff that applied evenly with smooth, opaque coverage that was comfortable to wear. The consistency was thin but creamy enough not to tug on the lips when worn. It wore well for five hours on me and was lightly moisturizing. Chanel Libre (62) (P, $45.00) is lighter (95% similar). Oh, this is the one I got! I think my Bronze is different, it’s smooth metallic with subtle sparkles, yours seems to have larger sparkles. I like both shades alone and combined, but I feel both are fairly dupe-able, so would prefer to pay $10 rather than $14 because the tubes are super tiny. But it’s nice to get 3 lip colors from this tube, Bronze alone, Pepper alone, and Bronze + Pepper. And I agree, Bronze does alter the Pepper color a lot, so this will be nice for travel. Instead of packing 3 full size lippies, just pop this in your purse.
Is yours pretty pigmented, though? I was surprised at that!
My Bronze is a about 1 shade lighter than yours, the sparkles more subtle — it’s semi-opaque, and appears more pigmented than the online swatches of Rose Gold in the other duo.
Love this combo! However… I have a conundrum of sorts in that I have several dupes of Pepper. MAC Cosmo and Mehr being foremost. But NOTHING like this bronze topper! If I bought it, it is only $14, I would have the topper….or I could just seek out a bronze metallic sheer lipstick or gloss?
I’d try to find a different gloss/lipstick that gets you close!
Probably too warm for me!
Aww, bummer!
I didn’t read, I just looked at the photos, I did say I wasn’t even going to look, but in the first photo it didn’t look like much. Bronze is amazingly pretty, I think. Pepper is also very pretty and they are really beautiful toghether. Just shows I can’t tell by just looking at the product, must see swatches and even better see it on lips.
So true – you never know! 🙂
I figured this one would run too warm for my tastes. Here again though, I think the topper would do better over another lipstick shade, but maybe it is that I like both better individually.
Of the three I tried, this combo is least compelling to me! I like them more individually as you did.
Pepper? Yes! Bonze? Nah.
Good thing Pepper is permanent then!
I like this set, too! Pepper is that kind of rosy plum color that I just adore and then just makes me look washed out and sick when I put it on, unfortunately! I wonder if it’s possible to make a color like it but with strong cool undertones or if that would completely change the look of the color. I think it looks great with the metallic topper, too — I’m surprising myself with how much I’m liking these metallic lipsticks from Bite 🙂
I really like how they made their duos a bitter different this year!
Me, too! I would also love it if they would sell the metallic shades separately, or come out with rose gold and bronze glosses as well as the gold. Would *super* love it if they came out with a silver, too!
Beautiful warm/neutral combo.
It is!
I’d get it if I didn’t already have Pepper…maybe I will anyway, I really like the combo.
Aww!
I already have Pepper, but I bought this anyway. (Actually I bought all four of this year’s duos. They’re so pretty!)
Bronze + Pepper still looks natural! I was expecting a shimmery mess but this is quite festive.
That bronze is fabulous on its own! I’m really impressed with this duo.
