Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon
Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon ($24.00 for 0.05 oz.) is supposed to be “long-wearing,” hydrating, and pigmented. It’s one of my favorite formulas for really pigmented, long-wearing, comfortable color that is more matte, though I wouldn’t describe them as a true or flat matte. There is a slight shine to them that wears down within an hour or so of wear (as you’d expect for most semi-matte to satin finish lipsticks). They come in a twist-up, large pencil format that makes it fairly easy to get precise edges and even coverage. For spring, they’ve brought back one previously limited edition shade (Blood Orange) and created five new shades to join the permanent range. The formula has a slightly herbal, lemony scent but no discernible taste to me.
Bite Beauty Blanc Matte Creme Lip Crayon ($24.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a bright, medium white with a satin finish. This shade shares the same formulas as the other shades, but the color itself (white) is marketed to mix with other shades to create customized color (although per the product listing, the founder also says “on its own creates an on-trend look for lips”). To test its overall quality (longevity, how it wears, application, etc.), I wore it on its own, but I have also played and tried it layered with other shades in the collection as well as with non-Bite Beauty products. It doesn’t perform as well as other shades, as it is a little thicker and doesn’t go on as evenly, though it is fairly pigmented and comfortable to wear/apply. The longevity was shorter than most shades in the range, but it is worth noting most shades in Bite’s range are darker/richer shades that typically would wear longer. When I paired it with Blood Orange, for example, it shortened the wear of Blood Orange on its own by an hour and a half (equal parts of both shades). When I only dabbed it on the center of the lips, I didn’t notice any difference in longevity. Sephora In the Clouds (43) (P, $8.00) is more muted (95% similar). MAC Frosting (P, $19.00) is cooler (95% similar). KVD Beauty White Out (P, $19.00) is cooler (95% similar). Maybelline Wickedly White (DC, $7.49) is cooler (95% similar). Bite Beauty Blood Orange Matte Creme Lip Crayon ($24.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a bright, medium coral-red with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had rich, opaque color payoff that applied smoothly and evenly without tugging on the lips. The texture felt velvety and comfortable tow ear on the lips but did not slip around. The color lasted for six hours and was lightly hydrating. MAC Lobster (DC, $21.00) is lighter (95% similar). NYX Indie Flick (P, $6.00) is darker (95% similar). Bite Beauty Pink Lady Matte Creme Lip Crayon ($24.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia with cool, blue undertones and a satin finish. I love that ombre lip on you!
Thank you!
That ombre lip is stunning! I think I might love blanc to lighten up some of my favorite colors to bring them into spring/summer. It looks like it blended seamlessly with blood orange!
It does blend fairly well!
Now I need a few of these to do some ombre looks. Luuuuurv.
Definitely try one!
I’m digging that blood orange color, both with and without the blanc. Almost makes me wish it was summer right now. lol
lol! It does have a very summery vibe.
Nice Springy Colors! Your ombre’ lip is making me think of a sunset. It’s been so awfully gloomy..I am ready for some sun here!
Aww! 🙂 Hoping you get a lil’ sun soon, Nicole!
Blood orange is definitely one of my more wearable orange lip colours. I do not wear it often because it isn’t a favourite, but it’s about as close as I can get and still look human.
I think the white pencil would be excellent for doing a change-up on an existing listick and for layering. I like what you did with the ombre lip.
Thanks, Wendy! 🙂
Hi Christine,
I’ve been waiting with such excitement to see your reviews on these – especially blanc! I’m wondering what your opinion is on the usefulness of blanc? To me it seems like a really exciting idea, buy one new lipstick and be able to transform all your other lipsticks, do you think it’s worthwhile? Or would you be more likely to simply buy new lipsticks in other shades rather than mess about transforming ones you already have?
Tiny other little note, at the start of the pink lady review you’ve listed it as blanc.
Thanks again!
I would think about how likely you are to take the time to transform! For some, it’s fun and something they’d take the time, but others may find they’d rather one-and-done kind of product.
Fixed!
that ombre lip is to DIE for
I’m going to have to try to dupe this with colors I already have as I’m trying not to buy anything new haha
I bet you can dupe it 😀
Well, it’s definitely an interesting concept, this Blanc shade for creating ombreed lips. Shame that it’s weartime is so poor compared to the other ones. And I love that look you did using ALL 3, that is so cool and fun looking!
I hear you! I wish it didn’t take down the wear of other things so much.
These are so vibrant and beautiful.
They are!
It’s getting harder and harder to ignore BLANC. It’s just so hard to find a good white lipstick and the only one I own is Drug Lord from Jeffree Star (which is being made permanent as well).
I also find I funny that all the Bite Beauty products I’m gravitating to are unusual. lol
Love the shade Blood Orange turns into. Perfect vibrant coral pink!
How do you like Drug Lord for mixing?
It really good working any liquid lipstick. The colour is hard to get 100% white on it’s own like Blanc. But I feel like white is hard to get opaque because it is a heavy pigment to work with and it’s lighter than anything else. 😆
I think when you’re a makeup junkie it’s inevitable that you will get bored with the usual makeup and start looking for the rare and unusual.
It falls into I’ve got X colour from brand A and it looks like Y colour from brand B issue. lol
I was hoping Drug Lord would be made permanent. I missed it from the holiday collection.
Wow, the ombre lip you created is gorgeous!!!
Thanks, Kay!
I think the white one looks like a lot of funto play with. I really like the ombre lips. I could never do that, well, I could but the effect would be lost in a few minutes as rub my lips against each other so much.
I am happy to say I have dupes for the other two.
Yay! I’m glad you have dupes for the other two!
On it’s own, I don’t like Blanc, looks like someone put liquid paper over my lips, but I love the ombre looks that you created with it. Or even mix it with a pink to get some Panetone colors. I think it would be a fun one to play with, like BITE Opal.
It definitely encourages you to be creative! 🙂
The bolded pink-purple wording that starts each paragraph has Blanc in third spot instead of Pink Lady.
Fixed!
Those ombre looks are beautiful!
Thank you, Allison!
Pink Lady is my kind of color, and I don’t have dupes, so it’s going on my wish list. Blood Orange is very pretty, too. I love the ombre look you did, Christine!
Thanks, Fran! 🙂
They look good, I’d like to pick them up a bit later in the year, I’ve spent loads already this autumn/winter!
Good thing they are permanent 😀
TBH I don’t know if I’m really sold on any of these! I have them all in my Sephora cart ready to go… But a dupe for Blood Orange (which didn’t get the A+ it once did) is Peche? And Framboise as a dupe for Pink Lady? I have both of those from the first release, so I’ll likely pass
They are surprisingly similar, I think, to some of the other shades.
Pink Lady is glorious!
It’s a fun shade for spring!
I love the idea of the Beauty Blanc, and I really like the custom mix you made with it and Blood Orange. I just wish the wear time was a little better, although 5 hours still isn’t horrible. Did it perform the same with other brand lipsticks?
I only tried it with Bite’s shades.
These are soooo gorgeous and I love the sunset lip. I’m tempted to grab them all!
Thank goodness they’re permanent!
I can’t imagine leaving the house wearing just that white shade, but I think it’s a cool concept. I wonder if a white eyeliner would give the same effect.
White Eyeliner could work, but it would be harder to mix well, I think, as it would be a denser/firmer texture!
The ombre effect is so stunning 🙂 my pink would be Pink Lady for myself 🙂
Thanks, Rashmi!
Love that ombre look!
Yay!
Would Blanc work as an outer lip wedge definer and cleaner? I’m very pale w/o a light enough concealer.
It will be a little tacky and thick, I think, to use. Why not try a clear lip liner?
