Best Products of the Week | Vol. 281

Hope your weekend is starting off on the right note! Every Saturday, I like to share the top 10 products from the last week of reviews. It’s a nice way to highlight what reviews have been published recently. Similarly, I love reading–and I know others enjoy sharing!–their own “week in review” when it comes to what makeup/beauty products they may have used and/or enjoyed.

What was your week in review like? Copy and paste the lil’ survey below and share your answers in the comments 🙂

  • Your skin tone/coloring:
  • Look you loved this week?:
  • Any new or old favorites discovered?:
  • Any product you’re hoping to use next week?:

Comments that do not adhere to our comment policy may be removed. Discussion and debate are highly encouraged but we expect community members to participate respectfully. Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Your skin tone/coloring: pale, cool
Look you loved this week?: I’ve mostly been home so “maskless” which means lip and cheek products…. Eyes: Marc Jacobs, Prim-O (inner 2/3), MAC Mulch (outer 1/3) and, of all things, KVD Ludwin in my crease and, as almost always, Sephora Cappuccino to line; Clarins Hot Fuchsia Rouge Brillant (a lipstick/gloss hybrid, I think) on my lips; Kevyn Aucoin Grapevine on cheeks and that Clinique Chubby Stick highlighter (took me forever to locate it in my “overflow drawers”) to highlight my cheekbones.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: The KvD Shade+Light eyeshadow palette. I want to use it more and combine it with a few of my favourite shimmery shadows. And because it’s being discontinued, an “old favourite” lipstick of mine (Givenchy Fuchsia in the Know) now has a brand new tube to keep the other 2 that I’m currently using from running out entirely.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: The KvD Shade+Light palette, NARS Old Church Street duo and Marc Jacobs Prim-O shadow. What a shame those shadows are being axed (but the same is/was true of his blushes and the bronzers). It will be interesting to see what comes out to replace them!

Your skin tone/coloring: above with freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.

Look you loved this week?: I’ve started a little series on my Instagram, a purple palette showdown (I have a fair few purple palettes in my collection), and used the ColourPop Lilac You a Lot palette. It was the first time I used it, but I really enjoyed the look I created with it. I’ve not been a fan of ColourPop’s shimmer formula the last couple of years, but that palette formula seems to have their original, nice shimmer formula, so I am happy with it.

Any new or old favorites discovered?: Kaleidos Club Nebula palette, is becoming a quick favorite. The deep mattes are some of the easiest I’ve ever worked with, and, bonus, they don’t crease on me! And the shimmers are superb. It’s a stellar palette.

Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: More Club Nebula, more purple palette, and my Clionadh shadows.

Your skin tone/coloring: Pale/yellowish, dark hair, blue eyes

Look you loved this week?: I’ve done a bunch of pink looks for my IG this week, and I have loved them all. I stayed away from pink eyeshadow for a long time, but it really is such an easy-to-wear color family for me.

Any new or old favorites discovered?: My husband gave me the ND Love cheek duo a day early for V-Day, and I am so in love with it. It’s definitely going to be a well-used favorite for me.

Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: We are gonna have a big blizzard tomorrow, so IDK if I will be able to wear much makeup for the beginning of the week. Once it’s safe to go on the streets again, I am starting a new job, so I will be living in Natasha Denona’s Mini Nude & Gold palettes for some more conservative looks. I like a simple neutral look though, so I am not to mad about it. I can definitely sneak some mauve, peach, and pink eye looks in pretty soon, and it might not even be long before I can do a little more color.

What a lovely St. Valentine’s gift for you Stephanie and I think the shades would work well with your complexion.
It’s interesting – you are facing a blizzard and we are facing a heatwave….
Congratualtions on gaining a new position at this time in the pandemic. I hope it goes really well for you. The ND Glam palette is perfect for simple neutral looks and most of the shades can be used in conjunction with other palettes, I have found.

Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones

Look you loved this week?: I used a soft, muted cream shade from ND Glam on the whole lid, with the graduated green shades of CT’s The Rebel 2020 for an eye look this week. It did look very pretty and I paired it with Maybelline’s Spice For Me lipstick.

Any new or old favorites discovered?: ND Glam and The Rebel 2020. I also used Naked 1 and Stila In the Garden this week as well.

Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: Well, I am hoping that our 5 day lockdown brings the desired result and hopefully there will be somewhere to go….but it will be what works with my clothes. It will probably be minimal because we are going to have a week long heatwave…..

Genevieve, I hope your lockdown helps, we are starting to open up a bit and I’m not sure it’s a good idea so soon, but that’s not up to me. I would like to send you our polar vortex it’s been hanging around waaay too long and we are tired of being cooped up inside drinking hot chocolate trying to stay warm! When I go out I have so many layers on I can hardly move lol! Try and stay cool!

Genevieve Avatar

Thanks Brenda – it’s always a bit tricky when govts. decide to ‘open’ up because you just don’t want the covid numbers soaring again. It took awhile, after our big lockdown last year, for everyone to go out again – everyone was a bit nervous.
I found I could only take a shopping centre for an hour or so because it was just too much noise and too many people.
I must admit that you do get sick and tired of being cooped up by the weather – whether it’s too hot or too cold. Keep warm Brenda!
