Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name.
Favorite look from the week: I only wore makeup twice this week and they were pretty much the same look with just a lipstick switch out. I used my current favorite base which is Revlon Pore Filling Primer, Dior Forever Skin Glow, Honest Beauty and Cle de Peau concealers (mixing a drugstore concealer with a high end kind of cracks me up), mixed together, Huda Cookie Dough loose powder and Guerlain Meteorites in Claire at the end with MAC Fix + to set everything in. For blush I used Sulwhasoo Radiance Blush in PInk Harmony and then targeted my brush to the whiter highlight shade for the tops of my cheeks. Brows were MAC Brow Pen in Fling. For the eyes I used the Viseart Rose Edit and stuck to the more pinky shades with the neutrals. I used NYX Waterproof e/s primer, then went over the whole lid with the #2 shade. I used shade #6 over the mobile lid and then blended shade #7 into the crease and above as my transition. I deepened the crease and outer V with shade #4 and then used shade #9 just in a spotlight placement. I used shade #1 as inner corner highlight but felt it was too dark so went back to the white area in the Sulwhasoo blush compact. Finally, lips were L’Oreal Strawberry Shine one day and then the second time I wore the look I went with MAC Rebel just tapped onto my lips to give more of a stain effect. I liked how both looks turned out and I love the quality of all the products. There were no duds in the bunch.
Your most used product this week: Since it would always be my base products I am going to eliminate them and say my Viseart Rose Edit palette. I am really enjoying all of my smaller Viseart palettes. The quality is so good and they are easy to work with.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): I loved rediscovering my MAC Rebel lipstick and using it in a slightly different way, just tapped onto my lips rather than trying for a fully opaque application. I also loved the Sulwhasoo Radiance blushes. I purchased them about 18 months ago and they were in my rotation everyday for a couple of weeks and then were put away into my makeup storage and forgotten for awhile. I was organizing, saw them and used them this week and really enjoying them again. Sulwhasoo is not cheap but their makeup line is geared more towards a mature skin/face so the products I have tried have been quite nice.
I also wanted to quickly mention my initial experience with the Peace Out Microneedling Dark Spot Correcting Dots. I used them for the first time last night. Quick how to use: Cleanse, apply before any skin care, remove dot from backing, put the rough side (microdermabrasion side) down against the skin and hold in place for 10-15 seconds then peel off the white paper ring. Leave on for at least 6 hours twice per week. Suppose to see some results in 2 weeks.
The very rough side was initially uncomfortable as you are pressing it into the skin. It feels a bit like Velcro being pressed into your skin. If you were someone with particularly sensitive skin I am not sure you would like the sensation. Once I stopped pressing I didn’t notice the texture but initially did feel it when I put that side down on my pillow. Not painful or even uncomfortable but you can feel it. It didn’t feel particularly sticky on that side so I had no hopes that it would be on my face in the morning but it was. The micro-needling side is treated with medication that the needling then allows for deeper penetration of the products. Now the problem!! I have areas of hyper-pigmentation on the tops of both cheeks, and on my lower jaw line both closer to my lips and then just in front of my ears. I had to use two dots on each side of my upper cheeks to cover the pigmentation and then since the lower cheek areas were so far apart I had to use two on each side. They come 24 to a pack and I used 8 in my initial application. That means I will get 3 uses from each box. They are $28 dollars a box. I will get 1 and 1/2 weeks from a box. I am sure you can see where this is going!! I will need to repurchase before I can even use the product for the two weeks that I need to do before seeing any results. I am going to do that so am ordering again now and will see if I see any results at all in 2 weeks. I wish they were just slightly larger so that I could cover the area on my upper cheeks with just one dot. Also, the question is, if I do see improvement would I have to continue using them for the rest of my life to keep whatever gains?
Deborah, thanks so much for leaving such a detailed description of how these are used (and sized!). I’d been thinking about these – now revising that plan. I think it’ll cost too much to find out if they work, as I’d need at least as many dots as you’re using. Really helpful review!
Thanks for taking the time to fill us in on these.
Good question Deborah, I bought 4 boxes of the Peace Out Dark Spot Correcting Dots. I applied one to my cheek and one to my chest every night until I used them all. I did not have any bad reactions from using them more frequently than the directions called for. I can cover my hyper pigmentation quite a bit better now but I will still visit my dermatologist to have these spots removed because they are just driving me crazy. I just finished them a week ago and the spots have not been getting any darker, I do wear sunscreen every day, I’m sure this helps. Good luck with yours I hope they help!
Coloring: Under my name. Green eyes, s&p hair
Favorite Look: EYES—A simple look using two Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks (Burnished Bronze on crease, Moonlight on lid). Marc Jacobs Highliner in Blacquer tightlined in upper lash line, Colourpop Precision Brow Colour, Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara.
FACE—Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Lancôme Effacernes Waterproof Concealer, NARS Orgasm Blush, RCMA No Color Powder.
LIPS—MAC Hey Frenchie Lipstick
Most Used Products: MAC LoveMe Lipsticks (various shades), Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Lancôme Effacernes Waterproof Concealer, RCMA No Color Powder.
Beauty Discovery: Nothing this week.
Your skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Favorite look from the week: Pat McGrath Bronze Struck on mobile lid, MAC Charcoal Brown or Cork in crease, Sephora black liner on upper lid, Sephora Cappuccino liner under lower lashes, Becca Foxglove blush or Too Faced Sweetie Pie bronzer on cheeks (I’ve been switching back and forth as the bronzer works as a lovely blush for me), Smashbox Red Rage on lips, all the normal stuff…tinted sun screen, powder, concealer…
Your most used product this week: Marc Jacobs BravO eyeshadow and Smashbox Red Rage lipstick (I must sound so booooring(
Any beauty discoveries… yup – that concealer does NOT work as an eyeshadow primer for me (probably because I use an eye cream on my upper lids day and night)
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair neutral
Favorite look from the week: I bought Hourglass Vivid, so today I wore two grays from the Smashbox Punkd palette in the crease, Vivid on the lid, then blended Leo shade from Melt Gemini into the two grays. Took the darker gray and ran it underneath my eyes. Then Nylon from MAC in the inner corner. Then Milani Silky Touch bronzer in Sunkissed, Besame blush also in Sunkissed, and a hint of a MAC highlighter from a hyper real palette. Lips – JK Magic from C Tilbury.
Your most used product this week: My mini Tom Ford lipstick in Indian Rose, which I was trying to pan after finding again but I think it’s just truly gone bad.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): the Hourglass Vivid was my one real ‘splurge’ from the Sephora sale. I love the color but I’m still finding it more of a buildable product than I’m used to.
Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Favourite look from the week: I paired my new Colour Pop lipstick, LA Lady and did a soft olive toned shade look using Chanel’s Tisse D’Automne quad – I substituted the pink shade for a vanilla one, used the light olive all over the lid, the darker olive on the lower lid and the brown shade in the crease. The vanilla shade was from the Soft and Smokey palette and was used on the browbone and corners.
Your most used product this week: All of my staples
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): That sturdy packaging is necessary for eyeshadows when travelling: my beloved Maybelline Burgundy Bar has not survived the trip well.
I’m sorry about your Burgundy Bar, especially considering how expensive even drug store makeup is in Australia. I hope you’ll be able to get another if you need it.
Your skin tone/coloring: fair/cool skin (foundation matches: Fenty Pro Filt’r 110, Urban Decay All Nighter 2.5, NARS Natural Radiant Longwear 2.0 Mont Blanc, Kevyn Aucoin The Etherealist Light EF 02, L’Oreal True Match C3 Creamy Natural), gray eyes, brown hair with red highlights and scattered blonde/blue strands
Favorite look from the week: Yesterday I debuted my brand-new Tom Ford Lips & Boys Liev lipstick with a red and burgundy look-Fenty Pro Filt’r 110 concealer and foundation, Fenty Match Stix Amber as cheek contour, Tarte Amazonian Clay Unstoppable blush, Huda Beauty Ruby Obsessions 3 (rose gold) shadow all over lid, UD Slowburn from lashline to crease, a combination of Ruby 4 (burgundy) and Amethyst Obsessions 4 (eggplant) shadows along top lashine, Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin mascara, and Tom Ford Liev.
Your most used product this week: Huda Gemstone Obsessions eyeshadow palettes-mostly Ruby and Sapphire.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): Sephora Lipstories Labyrinth City lipstick continues to be a great choice for job interviews-neutral, but still packs a punch.
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.

Any beauty discoveries (new or old): Nothing this week.
Your skin tone/coloring: Above with freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.
Favorite look from the week: I really liked all of the make up I did this week (rare for me). I’ve been gravitating toward more cool tones, and lately I purchased the Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadow in Smoke and it has been really lovely to play with. I also broke out my PMGL Luxetrance Lipstick in Beautiful Creature to pair with it and loved how it looked together.
Your most used product this week: Ulta Cream Blush in Sunrise, it’s surprisingly good and rivals Glossier AND it’s the perfect shade for my skintone.
Any beauty discoveries… Ulta cream blush.
