Becca Smoky Quartz Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Review, Photos, Swatches

Smoky Quartz

Becca Smoky Quartz Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed ($38.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a muted, medium, rosy copper with warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It seemed less metallic compared to other highlighters in the range, which may or may not be your cup of tea. It yielded a strong, noticeable glow on the skin that didn’t accentuate my natural skin texture but was still a stronger highlight. On my complexion, there was some warmth (without being orange-based) and color, so I would expect it to be more of a highlighting bronzer or blush on very fair skin tones and more of a sheen on deeper skin tones. The consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable without being dusty in the pan. The pigmentation was opaque and appeared a bit darker swatched and applied than it did in the pan. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading slightly.

Formula Overview

$38.00/0.25 oz. - $152.00 Per Ounce

The Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed formula is described as having an "ultra-reflective shine" with a "creamy" texture that "applies seamlessly." In general, the texture of the highlighters is incredibly smooth, silky, and finely-milled with frosted to metallic finishes and the occasional more sparkly finish.

They tend to have a high-shine, more metallic finish and are a stronger highlighter, so they are going to be best suited to someone who likes an obvious highlight over a very subtle one. That being said, with a fan brush and a deft hand, one could certainly achieve a subtler, all-over luminosity as well, but if one takes a typical, tapered highlighting brush, there will be quite a bit of pigment and highlight on the skin.

I find that some shades can emphasize the look of pores slightly to moderately, depending on application. They tend to last between eight to nine hours on me.

It looks very pretty on you, I think.
I’m set when it comes to highlighters, though I lust for some, still. I’m going to pass on this one. If it hadn’t been LE I migh have bought it later, like the one from yesterday, but there are so many permanent lovely ones that I’ll personally not regret passing on a few LE’s

On my phone the swatches made me think of Hourglass Mood Light or maybe the warmer Makeup Geek Luster.. nope.. not dupes. This is going on the list. I’ll wear it as a blush.

I ordered this shade a few days ago, before I could find any reviews on it. Becca advertised this as “cool, rosey pink” and “mauvey”, so I’m a little disappointed to see that it looks warmer and more copper. I know different complexions bring out different undertones, so I’m interested to see how it’ll look on me!

I received it today and it’s definitely lovely! Appears a bit cooler toned and more pink on my skin than it does in the swatch photos. It might be a touch too dark for me to use as a highlight in the winter, but we’ll see!

This is quite lovely…for anyone not already sitting on several dupes! What is scary is that I have 3 of them: MAC Highlight The Truth, which I use as blush/highlight all in one, the DoC Mírame and CP Might Be. Time for me to chill on these sorts of similar shades!

Ugh this is so pretty. I want to get a Becca highlighter, and I thought I was going to pick up Champagne Pop, but I may go with this instead…

This is superb; apologies to Mac. Got CP might be, esp to avoid Modern Mercury and surprises like this beauty. But smoky quartz is SO pretty, and looks as if it will do nicely by all skintones, also vary quite a bit, with all skintones. Very nice. Becca has this type of product nailed beautifully.
