Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter Mini Review, Photos, Swatches
Opal
Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter Mini ($19.00 for 0.085 oz.) is a muted, medium gold with warm undertones and a metallic finish. It was richly pigmented with a soft, blendable consistency that was slightly looser in the pan compared to the permanent, full-sized version I have from years ago (which also felt creamier). On the skin, they looked and performed the same–high-shine, intense highlighters that blended out easily and lasted for eight and a half hours.

Formula Overview
$19.00/0.085 oz. - $223.53 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have a "high-shine" finish that "doesn't look glittery" and is blendable with an "intense highlight." The Minis were similar in color and performance to the full-sized shades, but the texture of the Minis seemed ever-so-slightly looser and not as cream-like to the touch. I just didn't feel like that discrepancy wasn't meaningful when I went to apply, blend out, or as the powders wore on the skin throughout the day. They were pigmented, easy to blend out, and had luminous to metallic finishes.
In terms of value, the full-sized highlighters retail for $38.00 and contain 0.28 oz. or cost $135.71/oz., so the minis contain $11.54 worth of product. On the other hand, a mini costs half the price of a full-sized; always keep in mind your usage habits and whether you're someone who will, in fact, use the full highlighter or whether you'd rather spend half the money and still get year(s) of use out of the mini.

Because I rarely finish anything at all with the exception of the occasional lipstick and foundation/CC cream, a smaller version like this is a good idea for me.
It’s not going to be the best value per ounce, but I think that there’s enough product usage there to be worth the lesser outlay of cash, IMO. I so rarely see people panning the Becca SSPs, lol!
Considering I own this one in a mini the new packaging it really fun update. 😉
Not sure if Opal would work on my very pale skin, but it’s super gorgeous on you.
Thank you, Deb! I think it could, but if you prefer subtle highlighter with less color, then I’d opt for Moonstone or Pearl.
I’m insanely pale and as long as I blend it out with a fluffy brush, opal looks heavenly on my skin. I have a mini from the old set they released, and I haven’t even scratched the surface. I love it. Highly recommend especially on these smaller sizes.
Thanks! Knowing that it works on someone else with very pale skin makes it really tempting. And yes, the smaller size is so appealing. The last thing I need is another highlighter but it’s making itself so easy to buy.
I’m wearing precious petals today! So I guess I’m set!!!
Truthfully, I am loving the mini option! Great way to find out if I love a formula or shade before committing to a rather large full-size version. As well as because of my having quite a hoard of highlighters, so I’m likely to never finish them all anyway.
I wish Becca had come out with these a while ago, as it’s too hard to even make a dent in the full size, and the full size isn’t cheap either –a smaller size for smaller price is great!
Very pretty. I have to ask, is opal liquid slighly pinker than the powder?
I think it’s just less shimmery so it doesn’t come off as warm-toned. I wouldn’t describe it as pink, though.
