Becca Ocean Glow Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Review & Swatches
Ocean Glow
Becca Ocean Glow Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed ($38.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a soft, rosy copper with warm undertones and cool, bluish-aqua shimmer that gives it a more metallic sheen on the skin. I would describe the individual shades as: a deeper, rosy copper, cool, icy aqua, and a medium brown with warm, yellow undertones and a barley-there golden sheen. The two highlighters were soft, blendable, and yielding, while the bronzer portion was firmer, stiffer, and much more difficult to get coverage from. When swirled altogether, I was able to get some of the bronzer with the highlighters which helped to add a little more depth.
Per the brand, it contains two new highlighter shades, Pink Sand and Pacific Blue, along with Bronzed Bondi (a existing shade of Sunlit Bronzer). I hope they’ll consider releasing the highlighters individually down the line, as they’re really not that usable as standalone shades. The easiest one to use with a very faint touch and tapered, highlighting brush is Pink Sand (the rosy portion), as the wave (Pacific Blue) and surfboard (Bronzed Bondi) are difficult to separate out unless we start using small eyeshadows (not even medium eye brushes!).
As a whole, the powder had good pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer more. The texture was soft and blendable, and it didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture when applied heavily to my cheeks. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading slightly.

The Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed formula is described as having an "ultra-reflective shine" with a "creamy" texture that "applies seamlessly." In general, the texture of the highlighters is incredibly smooth, silky, and finely-milled with frosted to metallic finishes and the occasional more sparkly finish.
They tend to have a high-shine, more metallic finish and are a stronger highlighter, so they are going to be best suited to someone who likes an obvious highlight over a very subtle one. That being said, with a fan brush and a deft hand, one could certainly achieve a subtler, all-over luminosity as well, but if one takes a typical, tapered highlighting brush, there will be quite a bit of pigment and highlight on the skin.
I find that some shades can emphasize the look of pores slightly to moderately, depending on application. They tend to last between eight to nine hours on me.

Products like this look pretty and interesting but I find that the fancy designs don’t usually add anything to the performance and can make the product difficult to use.
I definitely see the impact of having two (or three) shades within the compact, but when they get more complicated with smaller parts, they really just have to be used together – so the question is whether simply mixing and creating one shade that looks like them swirled is better than separating the parts out!
The icy sheen on the warmer base looks oddly “natural”. Like beach-kissed. As I already have ABH Forever Young and MAC Otherearthly, I will experiment by using them together to see if I can get this lovely effect!
I wouldn’t get this, but if I were interested, I would completely ignore the marketing and us it only in its “swirled together” mode — any other approach seems like it’d be really frustrating.
I am a sucker for embossed or gimmicky patterns in products. Knowing this about myself doesn’t help me to fight the urge to buy them regardless of whether they are practical or not. This is really beautiful on you Christine and while the embossing wouldn’t stop me from purchasing it the depth of the shades would not work on my fair skin. I really do love it and could see my daughter using it so will check it out for her. Thank you for all of the hard work that you have put into getting products swatched and reviewed this holiday season. I know at the start it always seems over-whelming but each year you rise to the challenge and I want you to know how much we all appreciate you!
I really like the whole ‘swirl together’ shade effect. Whilst these shades aren’t exactly for my complexion, I hope Becca will release others in a peachy kind of shade formulation. Love the motif too.
Beautiful look Christine – you look so, so lovely.
Is the white shade glittery?
I wouldn’t say glittery!
I have 2 of these ocean glows! They are so gorgeous! I wear all the time! The only thing that bums me out about the swirled highlights is that they always break. I wish they would make separate pans in a disc to help prevent this from happening… anyone know a kit I can use to crush this up and repress back into the original pan?
Google “repressing an eyeshadow” 🙂 That should get you on the right track!
