bareMinerals The Happy Place Eyeshadow Quad Review, Photos, Swatches
bareMinerals The Happy Place Eyeshadow Quad
This Happy Place is Warm and Cozy
bareMinerals The Happy Place Eyeshadow Quad ($30.00 for 0.17 oz.) includes four shades: Peace (muted apricot), Imagine (rose gold), Exhale (smoky taupe), and Euphoria (eggplant).
Peace is a soft peach with a mostly matte finish. It had excellent color payoff and was very soft and smooth. bareMinerals Stealth is a touch more orange. Urban Decay Freestyle is more beige. Dolce & Gabbana Jewels is comparable, just more shimmery. MAC Nubile is a touch more beige and is a cream product. MAC Orb is more pink-toned.
Imagine is a muted, medium copper with a golden shimmer-sheen. It had good pigmentation and was fairly soft and smooth. MAC Star Myth is darker. MAC Mythical is darker and redder.
Exhale is a mauve-tinged taupe with a matte finish. It had great color payoff, and while it was very soft, it wasn’t powdery. This kind of color can be really versatile and easy-to-use in more dramatic looks as well as more natural ones. bareMinerals Suspense is lighter, grayer. MAC Cloudy Afternoon is lighter and frosted. Urban Decay Bust is grayer, frosted.
Euphoria is a reddened brown with warm, orange undertones. It had fantastic pigmentation and was very soft and smooth on the lid. Cinderella Rococo is more burgundy. bareMinerals Most Requested is more matte and muted. MAC Star Violet is pinker. Estee Lauder Violet Underground is browner, warmer.
All in all, The Happy Place is a well-made quad with nicely pigmented eyeshadows and soft, smooth textures that feel finely-milled, buttery, and dense.  Imagine was the “weakest” of the bunch, as it was slightly less pigmented compared to the other three, and a wee bit powdery.  I really do mean slight and bit–they’re so minor that one might not normally notice, but among truly stellar eyeshadows, it stood out.  When I wore all four shades together, they wore without fading or creasing for a full eight hours without a primer.

Oh this is fantastic! I’ve been looking for a mauve eyeshadow for some months now, and this is right up my alley. I really dig the other colours, too, and I don’t think I’ve anything remotely like them in my stash. I have never own anything by bareMinerals, but I’ll be sure to pick up this! And I love that you added one of your tutorials for this particular quad, too!
Love the extra pictures. Can you start doing youtube tutorials Christine? I would love to see how you apply some shadows in real time.
Its awesome i love metallic eye shades
Strange! Imagine was fairly pigmented on my palette, whereas Peace was barely showing up.
I don’t find the color palette particularly exciting, really. I own too many of these shades already, so I’ll pass.
ooooh loving the new tutorial addition 🙂
Looks like a nice quad and the quality of these shadows is amazing but most of these colours are ones I can dupe from what I’ve already got. If I were looking for a great warm neutrals quad, though, I’d be all over this one.
I cannot overstate how much I love the looks you’ve been posting with some of your recent shadow overviews. They’re (I assume) less work than a full tutorial, but more instructive than a plain old look post. Super useful!
This is a nice look; I really miss your tutorials!
I think you have two swatches of the first shade up?
ugh this is so gorgeous, but alas i can dupe this look with shadows i already have. might favorite this and use it as a reference for makeup application though 🙂
Hi Christine!
I love this look! What mascara are you using in the last picture? Is it good? 🙂
Thanks!!!
Buxom Sculpt – I like it, not sure if I love it. It’s not a SUPER dramatic mascara or anything.
I was just thinking about how beautifully complicated your eye looks are and was hoping you’d do tutorials for them. This is a happy medium between a video and a picture of the completed eye look. Yay!
Incredible!!!! This new tutorial section!!!!! CHRISTINE, DO YOU EVER SLEEP??????
This is one of the nicer eye shadow quads I’ve seen lately. I just find that most of them contain only one or two colours that I would actually use and I like that the colours are more neutral and not too warm.
I love the tutorial! I, too, always need a little extra help trying to recreate eye looks and I love that it’s in picture form!
Which brushes are you using in this tutorial?
MAC 239 (domed white brush), Make Up For Ever #17S (fluffy crease brush).
Love the little tutorials Christine 😀 super helpful
Wow!!! I just bought this quad. It’s so pretty and I love your tutorial. Thanks!!
Every time I read one of your reviews, I keep kicking myself for not having bought something from this brand already. Thanks for reminding me again!
This is GORGEOUS–I told myself no more shadows for a while (because I’m saving for a Burberry quad and Kevyn Aucoin duo), but this one is too pretty to resist. I love a good peachy/apricot for the eyes and have been wanting a rose gold shadow…plus who doesn’t love taupe?! I NEED this!
Loving the new photos at the end where you teach us how to do the look!
Can you tell us what blending brush you’re using! Thank you so much!
The “How-to” photos are so great by the way! Super helpful.
Make Up For Ever #17S
I just reviewed this palette and UGH, isn’t it just amazing? I absolutely love mine and cannot get enough of it. I feel bad neglecting the rest of my collection but it is just THAT good!
Great review and I love the look you did with it!
Pretty natural look! Thanks so much for showing how you did it!
I love your look!
Am I correct that the look in the tutorial doesn’t use the Euphoria shade? Do you think it’s a wearable shade as shadow, or intended to use as eyeliner? I’m always disappointed by palettes that include a shade that’s really only suitable for lining, because I prefer pencil and gel eyeliner.
Oh yeah, it’s definitely wearable as an eyeshadow! 🙂
Beautiful look! Thank you for posting this foto tutorial, I hope there will be many more in the future!
I love it 🙂 and I love the tutorials you make, this look is very natural and it´s just my kind of look considering I tend to use medium to bold lip colors, a natural look is best for eyes.
This is the PERFECT example oh why people need to stop underestimating BAREMINERALS! These ready eyeshadows are the best I have ever worked with. They are not the company they were 10 years ago, thank you Christine for showcasing these amazing products and giving them the amazing review they deserve.
I want this soooo bad! I had it in my hand at sephora but put it back bc I bought ‘the rare find’. which I love! but I want both!!
Love the colors!!
They are the colors I am wearing. A happy place does make me really happy just as you said!
This quad must have been designed for MEEEE! I have light medium warm skin. Between this and The Truth, which do you think will suit me better? I mean I’ll wear both but I want to reduce the embarrassing number of neutral eyeshadows in my collection. Lovely review as always!!!
I am kind of digging this one more!
