Sugar

Anastasia Sugar Glow Kit ($40.00 for 0.96 oz.) is a new, limited edition powder highlighter set for the holidays. Three of the four shades–all but Gumdrop–are shades previously released, though Gumdrop has two similar shades from past releases that the kit itself is nothing new if you are a collector of the Glow Kits. If you like really intense highlighters and don’t mind some glitter, it might work for you, but if you prefer subtle highlighters and no glitter, this will be a miss.

Marshmallow

Marshmallow is a bright, white gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had opaque pigmentation with a smooth, moderately dense consistency that was almost cream-like as a result. I needed to use a heavier hand or denser brush for good coverage, though. The powder blended out nicely and wore well for eight hours.

Ingredients

TALC, ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, OCTYLDODECANOL, SYNTHETIC FLUORPHLOGOPITE, SYNTHETIC WAX, BORON NITRIDE, CALCIUM ALUMINUM BOROSILICATE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, DIMETHICONE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, MAGNESIUM MYRISTATE, SILICA, THEOBROMA GRANDIFLORUM SEED BUTTER, TIN OXIDE, MAY CONTAIN/PEUT CONTENIR (+/-): MICA, TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891)

Gumdrop

Gumdrop is a light-medium peach with a gold to pink shifting shimmer along with a moderate amount of larger sparkle. It had more of a pearly sheen on the skin along with noticeable bits of glitter that sat on the skin. The highlighter looked softer and lighter at some angles and then deeper and pinker at other angles. The consistency was dense and on the chunkier side, so it took a bit more blending to even it out. On me, it lasted for eight hours.

Ingredients

ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, OCTYLDODECANOL, TALC, SYNTHETIC FLUORPHLOGOPITE, BORON NITRIDE, SYNTHETIC WAX, CALCIUM ALUMINUM BOROSILICATE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, DIMETHICONE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, MAGNESIUM MYRISTATE, THEOBROMA GRANDIFLORUM SEED BUTTER, TIN OXIDE, MAY CONTAIN/PEUT CONTENIR (+/-): RED 40 LAKE (CI 16035), IRON OXIDES (CI 77492, CI 77499), TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891)

Butterscotch

Butterscotch is a bright, light-medium gold with warm, yellow undertones and a metallic finish. It had intense pigmentation with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was fairly dense in the pan. A little went a long way, and if I wore it at semi-opaque or greater coverage, it tended to emphasize my skin’s natural texture. The color stayed on well for eight and a half hours on me.

Ingredients

ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, OCTYLDODECANOL, SYNTHETIC FLUORPHLOGOPITE, TALC, SYNTHETIC WAX, BORON NITRIDE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, DIMETHICONE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, MAGNESIUM MYRISTATE, THEOBROMA GRANDIFLORUM SEED BUTTER, TIN OXIDE, MAY CONTAIN/PEUT CONTENIR (+/-): MICA, IRON OXIDES (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891)

Starburst

Starburst is a light peach with warm undertones and a metallic finish. The version in this palette seemed slightly warmer and less pink compared to the one in the Gleam Glow Kit, and the texture felt denser here as well. The consistency was smooth, blendable, and easy to work with and yielded a very intense, metallic finish on the skin but did not seem to accentuate my skin’s natural texture to my eye. It had nearly opaque color payoff that wore well for eight hours on me.

Ingredients

TALC, ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, OCTYLDODECANOL, SYNTHETIC WAX, SYNTHETIC FLUORPHLOGOPITE, BORON NITRIDE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, DIMETHICONE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, MAGNESIUM MYRISTATE, THEOBROMA GRANDIFLORUM SEED BUTTER, TIN OXIDE, MAY CONTAIN/PEUT CONTENIR (+/-): MICA, RED 7 LAKE (CI 15850), RED 40 LAKE (CI 16035), IRON OXIDE (CI 77492), TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891)

I really would love to have Starburst, but the other three look…….weird. Probably fine for the eyes, but kind of jaundiced on the cheeks. I have a similar skin tone and those aren’t flattering IMO. I wish they’d sell them individually!

The one shade I love the most is Gumdrop. Wish it were being offered for sale as a single! Although, I do actually love 3 of these shades enough to *possibly* buy the palette, I just don’t know yet if I will.

Well I was trying to talk myself out of this one because most of the Glow kits don’t work for my skin ton but 3 will work just fine for me and the shade Gumdrop I can use as an easy eyeshadow colour. 😉

I just purchased this online along with the Prism palette. The only shade I’m concerned about is Starburst. It looks a little icy, but I may be able to pull it off alone. If not, I’m sure I can layer it with other highlighters or use for the eye.

I’m pretty disappointed with this palette. I really love the starburst colour but I already have the sweets kit which contains marshmallow and butterscotch if I remember correctly. If they’d only put one re-release colour in this and three new ones, I would’ve been quite happy with that.
