Anastasia Plum Smoke Eyeshadow
Anastasia Plum Smoke Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark rosy taupe with mauve tones and a subtle, bronze sheen. It’s a rather complicated color, because I can see the “plum” in a sense yet wouldn’t think to describe it in the plum family. It had good pigmentation with a soft, blendable texture that ran a little powdery. The color started to fade after seven and a half hours. Make Up For Ever I544 Pink Granite (DC, $21.00) is darker (90% similar). Tarte Make a Mauve (LE, ) is less shimmery (90% similar). Stila Garnet (PiP, ) is darker (90% similar). Anastasia Macaroon Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.06 oz.) is light-medium, pinky lavender with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It was intensely pigmented with a dense, buttery texture that went on smoothly and blended out nicely. This shade wore well for eight hours on me. BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes 2 #11 (PiP, ) is less shimmery, cooler (95% similar). Kylie Cosmetics North Star (LE, ) is darker, more muted (90% similar). MAC Rose Light (LE, $32.50) is warmer (90% similar). Sydney Grace Redeemer (DC, $5.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC Rose Light (LE, $32.50) is warmer (90% similar). Anastasia Not Today Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.06 oz.) is medium-dark plum with warm, brown undertones and silver sparkle over a pearly sheen. The consistency is denser and more cream-like, which helps a lot of the sparkles to bind with the color and not just rest on the surface. This resulted in a lot less fall out during application and wear, though there were a few stray sparkles by the end of the day that had fallen underneath the eye. It had great pigmentation, blended out well, and wore without creasing for eight hours. MAC Midnight Shine (P, $18.00) is darker (95% similar). Dior Fever (794) (P, $29.50) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Anastasia Drama (LE, $12.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). MAC Rare Find (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Givenchy Inattendue #4 (PiP, ) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Dior Eternal Gold #4 (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Huda Beauty Ruby #6 (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). Chanel Diapason (92) (DC, $32.00) is warmer (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. FORMULA OVERVIEW | Anastasia Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.06 oz.) is supposed to be a “finely-milled, highly-pigmented” powder eyeshadow. The brand has a large range of individual eyeshadows that are available as pan-only (no compact to hold them); if you purchase four, you’ll get a 4-well palette for $40 ($10 per eyeshadow), or purchase eight and get an 8-well palette for $70 ($8.75 per eyeshadow). The palettes are thick cardboard palettes with tabs on the side for easy removal/rearranging. There are several different finishes, and the performance can be better or worse depending on the finish, though it also ranges from shade to shade. On average, the formula is semi-opaque to opaque, lightly dusty to buttery, wears seven to nine hours, and is fairly blendable. The Metallic and Titanium finishes seem to be the best-performing to me, but there are some really standout mattes and shimmers as well. I have not tried the sparkle, satin, or velvet finishes as extensively as the other finishes, personally.

Oh my gosh macaroon is so gorgeous, I might need to save up for an end of school term reward for myself and get a 4 or 8 palette! Every batch of these you review have at least one that’s just killed me.
That would be a great reward, Laura!
I really like the looks of plum smoke and I do not have MUFE pink granite yet. It’s been on my wishlist with about a dozen other mufe shadows for weeks. This one looks a little more shimmery, but super lovely too.
Plum Smoke is a really interesting shade!
Hi Christine: Sorry to trouble you post facto: I can’t find these shadows. Have they not been released yet? I’ve checked Sephora, Nordstrom, and Beautylish which are three places where I can order and get good directly shipped to Canada. I cannot buy from Ulta. Thanks for your help.
I think they’re only on Anastasia’s website presently. I never know what is or isn’t going to go to other retailers from ABH – I know Macy’s carries some of the single shadows, but it is definitely an edited selection. Sephora just added like five of the liquid lipsticks this AM, but virtually has no other ABH color products!
Wow, these are so pretty! I’m going to my local Macy’s this weekend to check out the ABH shadow display
Awesome! Let us know what you think!
Drooling over the second eye look you put together with Emerald and Not Today! These ABH posts have me itching to break my resolutions about buying makeup. 😉
Aw, thanks Lacey!
Stay strong!
Both Macaroon and Not Today look and sound fabulous. Lovely colors with long wear!
They are nice!
I enjoy them with Opaline, Utopia, Aubergine, and Touch of Lilac! Sometimes I tone it down with Chiffon and Chocolate Crumble, or add a pop of Peacock! I love these! So pretty for winter!
Ack! These all are my favorite type of colors! And good ratings too? Must resist buying them all!
lol!
Oh these look really pretty together. Macaroon is my favorite here. But the best name award goes to Not Today 🙂
It is a cool name!
I guess it’s no secret that I seriously love all 3 of these shades! These types of shades light up my eyes, so yep, 3 more on my “wishlist”. Will most likely be putting an ABH eyeshadow palette down the road.
But for right now, literally TODAY, it will either be a trip to SFS MAC for Deeply Daring pressed pigment and a Blackberry e/s Pro Pan single, or a CP haul of Puppy Love, Telepathy, Weenie, Porter(?), “3” and Truth. First have to go get my Remicade infusion, so hopefully I’ll have enough energy to go over to MAC later on.
Really impressed with the Titanium finish 😀
Beautiful eye looks, Christine!
Thank you, Jennifae!
Beautiful colors. I love these kinds of shades.
Me too! 🙂
Interesting colours. I like all three.
They were surprisingly smooth!
I have no idea how you get so many shades on your eyelid to do the second eye look! Both looks are stunning!
I love this set of shades. I wish I would have discovered these before I was drowning in shadows! Would that of stopped me from buying endless palettes? I doubt it. ..One day i’m going to start adding these to my Z palettes of mufe. Right now, I’m doing Spring 2016. 🙂
LOL! Not knowing what you’re going to apply that day helps 😉
These are seriously gorgeous! Colors with this much red in them are not usually very flattering on me as eyeshadow, for some reason I have not figured out yet, but I’m really tempted by these.
I know what you mean! Sometimes if I’m wearing too much pink, I notice it does bring out the red in my eyes.
These colours lean towards the pinks and plums and are very fashionable at the moment. But alas, not for me.
Your eye looks are lovely Christine and these colours are beautiful on you.
Aw, thank you Genevieve!
Gorgeous on you!
Thanks, Mimi! 🙂
Very nice. These colors are certainly for me! I might want to get those 🙁
Woohoo!
ABH is really on a roll! WOW! Even more shadows have now been added to my wish list. (I think we’re going to need a bigger boat… LOL)
The new ones they released are a lot better than some of the ones I tried in the past!
Watching Norvina swatch on YouTube proves you’re right! I indulged ASAP. They are so much better. They blended so well on your eye!
These are lovely colours, I’m glad they’re permanent. I’ll do an ABH eyeshadow haul one day, not for a while though!
Phew 😀
Love love looooove Macaroon! Not Today is gorgeous, too. I’ve actually really liked most of the ones you’ve reviewed, eep! 😛
Yay! 😀
Sooooo pretty.
They are!
I like Macaroon. Beautiful eye looks Christine!
Thanks, Pami!
