Anastasia Holiday 2018 Mini Lip Gloss Set Review & Swatches
Holiday 2018
Anastasia Holiday 2018 Mini Lip Gloss 4-Piece Set ($25.00 for 0.28 oz.) contains four, limited edition (and new) shades that are supposed to have the brand’s “full-sparkle formula,” which is really just code for shimmery, sparkly gloss with less coverage from color and more shimmer-related coverage. All four shades were moderately sparkly, and as they wore down, I could feel the texture of the sparkles come through, so if that’s a deal-breaker, keep that in mind. I actually enjoyed the glosses, but as someone who likes to layer shimmery glosses over more opaque lip color. The brand’s full-sized lip gloss retails for $16.00 and contains 0.16 oz., which gives the set a value of $28.00. The set will be online at retailers on October 9th and in stores on October 12th.
I wonder if there was an oversight in the text on the packaging, as these are marketed online to have a “mirror-like glossy finish with a sparkle effect” (and stripping the description of them as opaque/full coverage) and the brand’s swatches reflect a sheerer base formula, but the back of the box actually states “opaque, high-shine, vanilla-scented lip color.” (One shade is described as having a “clear base”! Two have “opalecsent” bases, which seem to refer to the milky quality of them, I guess…) I normally defer to the point of purchase for descriptions, so I will defer to what’s listed online but wanted to point out the discrepancy.

Diamond
Diamond has a translucent base with multi-colored shimmer and larger sparkle, dominated by gold with flecks of gold and blue as well. It was supposed to have a clear base, but it seemed to have a milky quality to it on my lips, especially as there was a smidgen of product that welled in my deeper lip lines (but not enough that it was noticeable from a normal viewing distance). The shimmery gloss spread evenly across my lips with good shimmer/sparkle dispersion. The consistency was smooth, lightweight, non-sticky, and plush enough to be comfortable but I could feel the texture of the sparkles about half-way through the wear, which came in at three hours. The formula was lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$16.00/0.16 oz. - $100.00 Per Ounce
It is supposed to be “opaque” with “high-shine” that’s “non-drying.” It is one of the more pigmented lipglosses out there that has a smoother, more cushion-y consistency that typically spreads well across the lips. Some shades gather in lip lines, and some shades apply streaky; it seems more common with lighter shades and milkier colors.
The formula is non-sticky initially and develops slight tackiness over time. My experience from wearing the formula is that they are often lightly to moderately hydrating and wear three to five hours. They have a vanilla scent that isn’t too overpowering nor does it linger once applied (I notice it mostly in the tube).

Citrine
Citrine seemed to have a slightly warm, nearly translucent base with flecks of larger gold, green, and pink sparkle. It was the most glittery/sparkly shade in the set, and it a slightly oilier feel when it initially applied, though it wasn’t tacky and didn’t slide around too much while worn. I started to feel the texture from all of the glittery bits after an hour and a half of wear. There was a bit of product that sat in my deeper lip lines but wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance, and the finish being so shiny and glittery helped distract from that as well. It stayed on well for three hours and was lightly moisturizing over time.

Pearl
Pearl has a translucent, pale pink base with flecks of mostly copper, pink, and gold sparkle. This shade had the most noticeable amount of product that gathered in my lip lines, but I did not find it noticeable in person as the shine and sparkly finish distracted from it. It had semi-sheer to medium coverage in the form of sparkles with a sheer, milky base. The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and non-sticky. It wore well for three hours, and I felt some of the texture of all the sparkles come through after an hour of wear. The formula felt hydrating while worn.

Pink Tourmaline
Pink Tourmaline is a light-medium pink with flecks of pink and violet sparkle. It had a semi-sheer base that deepened and enhanced the natural pink tones of my lip color with a semi-sheer level of shimmer/sparkle. The gloss was lightweight, non-sticky, and plush and was the only shade of the four where I didn’t feel the texture of the sparkles come through until it was mostly worn off. It stayed on well for three hours and was moisturizing over time.

I love the shimmer. Pink Tourmaline is really pretty. I wish it were permanent.
I hope they’ll add some of the sheerer (but sparkly) shades to the regular line up (of course… I hope they make it obvious they’re sheer, LOL).
Yeah, they need to straighten out the descriptions, for sure! 😀
Woo-hoo!!! Spared by the dupes!
For the 3 shades I fell for, anyway. MAC Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, Pleasure Planet and GA Luce have come to my rescue!
I don’t see this on Sephora yet, is this available now? Thank you
The set will be online at retailers on October 9th and in stores on October 12th.
Nice set! I’ll probably pick these up. I love ABH lip glosses and 4 for $25 ain’t bad.
I got so excited when I saw ABH Mini Lip Gloss Set, since I love the ones I have, but felt sad when I saw they’re mostly sheer with big glitter. Not what I’m looking for these days, but nice for holiday parties.
I am actually not too impressed with these – I think the shades are fairly similar to each other, with the exception of the pink one.
Nooo, my weakness…
Petty but not special. Pass again.
I might pick this up when it comes to stores. I don’t have any dupes for these, but idk if I truly need it. I just picked up the sheer, shimmery/glittery gloss from the Disney x Colourpop release, so I don’t know how many of these type of glosses I need. But 4 for $25 is a good deal and I generally really like ABH glosses.
I’d say these are more sparkly overall compared to that one, but ColourPop also has some sparkly glosses (outside of that launch), too…
