ColourPop Tender Loving Cancer Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches
Tender Loving Cancer
ColourPop Tender Loving Cancer Pressed Powder Shadow Quad ($9.00 for 0.21 oz.) includes two shimmer shades (lavender, light duochrome) and two matte shades (dusty coral and blackened plum). One of the shimmer shades was sheerer and thinner, while the three remaining shades were a little powdery/drier. Overall, it was decent product but would benefit from an eyeshadow primer and someone who prefers to use their shimmers damp/with a fingertip.

So Devoted
So Devoted is a medium-dark lavender with cooler undertones and warmer, soft gold shimmer and larger flecks of sparkle. It had opaque pigmentation paired with a soft, more loosely-pressed texture, but there was enough binder in the formula that if I pressed and patted it into place, it had good adhesion with minimal fallout. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

In My Feels
In My Feels has an almost transparent base chocked full of blue-to-violet shifting pearl. The texture was more emollient and thinner, so it did apply best with a fingertip or a dampened brush for higher coverage. With a dry brush it had more medium, somewhat buildable pigmentation. It wore well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Love the dusty coral in this palette
Can you imagine someone who is totally clueless about astrology going on CP’s site reading: Tender Loving CANCER? 🤣
Not that cancer is funny in any way, but this quad title has me giggling at that mental imagery! Gets prize for worst thought out product name, OMG. 🤦🏻♀️
A more unusual colour combination for a quad, but I think it would work with the soft shimmers and the plum shade as a contrast.
I think this one is the most eye-catching of the 12 quads. The pale lavender is so pretty and seems like it would be especially flattering. Also, I love the “69” yin yang symbol on the dark plum shade. But I have dupes all over the place (e.g., Juvia’s Place The Violets). Yet, I am so tempted. Justification – Cancer is my son’s zodiac sign.
I know that this is about the astrology sign, and I’m usually not one to get her underwear in a bunch over names of things, but I’ve lost so many people close to me to cancer in the last couple years that this just hits me wrong.
I feel weird even saying that because, as I said above, it’s not something that would usually occur to me to be in a tizzy over, I’m also not the type of person to suggest they rename an entire line to suit a handful of people, plus I am that astronomical sign so I know that that’s based on our traits, but just ugh.
