Happy Saturday! I always enjoy seeing what makes up the week’s top ten highest-reviewed products, so I hope you find it somewhat interesting as well! 🙂
Editor’s note: not sure why Deep is showing… will have to have my developer look at it on Monday!

Skin tone/coloring: Light, neutral skin tone, green eyes, s&p hair
Look you loved this week: EYES: MAC singles (Twinks on lid, Haux in crease), Chanel Stylo Yeux Eye Pencil in Charme on lower lash line; Cover Girl Clump Crusher Mascara; and Benefit Goof Proof Brow and Precisely My Brow Pencils (one to shape, the other to fill in). FACE: Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder, NARS Orgasm Blush, Laura Mercier Baked Bronzer 02. LIPS: MAC Lipstick in Soar.
Any new or old favorites discovered: Despite all the hooded eye tutorials I’ve followed over the years, I just discovered that my eyes look better with a darker shade on the lid, such as the look I described above. I normally would never put shades as dark as MAC Twinks, Satin Taupe, or Shale on my lids, but now I prefer them to the lighter shades I’ve been using, like Grain.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week? Not specifically, but I’ll be experimenting with more of my eyeshadows.
I have hooded eyes Seraphine and quite some time ago, an Elizabeth Arden makeup assistant offered to show me how to best use eyeshadow to make the most out of my eyes.
She used a soft colour (like a cream) all over, then on my lower eyelid – the darker shade and in the crease have a lighter tone. Previously I had the lighter shade on the lower lid and the darkest shade in the crease only (badly blended I might add!). It looked so much better the way she did it.
Is this kind of what you tried?
That sounds similar. Darker satin finish shade on lid, slightly lighter matte finish in crease (see my favorite looks). It made such a difference!
Your skin tone/coloring: light/medium, neutral undertone
Look you loved this week?: Tinted sunscreen and cream bronzer. I can’t believe I’m saying that given my love for blush!
Any new or old favorites discovered?: Relatively new, been using consistently since purchasing anyway, First Aid Beauty Weightless Liquid Mineral SPF30 and rms beauty Buriti Bronzer.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen, but mostly to just make a dent in it. It is a recent purchase and I’m not loving the heavy silicone feeling it has.
Heather, Heather, Heather – should I be ditching the Australian Gold tinted sunscreen (I just received 2 new tubes because I was panicking when I couldn’t find it at SDM) for the FAB one? I do love AG and the higher SPF is a big factor in its favour but now I’m thinking “If Heather likes it, I need to try it!”.
Night Rose is so gorgeous, and I don’t feel bad about putting it on my wishlist. As soon as it is safe to go mask free she might be my celebratory purchase. (We are closing on our new house on the 30th, and the theme for the decor is colors/meaning of roses in the language of flowers. I am keen on rose stuff 25/8, but right now moreso!)
Your skin tone/coloring: Pale, yellowish, blue eyes, dark hair
Look you loved this week?: I did a smokyish eye with the original Tartelette Pro mattes and Touch in Sol Aurora Taupe that was lovely.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: Not makeup! But I did find the updated (non-DIC) dub of Sailor Moon on Hulu. I’ve watched the new adaptation, the Japanese subtitled version, and of course the DIC version of my teenage years, and I love them all for different reasons. The updated dub is truer to the original text, and I love that the senshi and Mamorou all have their Japanese names intact. I’ve been watching and crocheting, and it has gone a long way in helping with the frustration/fear/anxiety that’s been plaguing me for months. Strangely, it is also inspiring me to write again. I haven’t written fiction since I had a very bad experience in college with a tactless and intentionally mean comment that I let get to me. The moonlight is a messenger of love, and Usagi is right!
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: I went to Walgreen’s (first trip out of the house in a couple of weeks, excepting home-buying stuff) and found two of their Pride liners. I have had consistently awful luck with bright orange eyeliner including THREE CP Puppy liners that never worked, so I picked up She Bang (bright corally orange) and Love (silvery pale blue.) I know Pride collections can be money-grabby sometimes, but it seems like NYX is going above and beyond with making this one actually inclusive and aiming to make it the beginning of a conversation rather than a one-month foray into equality. I am looking forward to coming up with fun looks for these liners, and I am hoping that when I do pick them up in the future that they remind me that it’s possible to be fun, bright, beautiful and also have a heart for others. Maybe I’ll put a dollar in a jar to donate each time I use a Pride-themed item in my collection?
Your skin tone/coloring: pale, cool
Look you loved this week?: I can’t even remember; I didn’t even realize it was the weekend!
Any new or old favorites discovered?: Exhumed the Naked on the Run eye and face palette to get some use from it; it’s such a nice little powerhouse and I want to use it for 3 or 4 days
Any product you’re hoping to use next week? In addition to the aforementioned Naked on the Run, I’ve pulled out a few other long-ignored palettes including Cargo’s Chill in the Six and The Essentials, in hopes of giving them a spin, perhaps using colours I might not use if I were working or socializing in a “pre-March” way.
Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Look you loved this week?: An olive toned look – I used Half Baked from Naked 1 all over the lid, with the olive green shade and soft brown from Chanel’s Tisse D’Automne quad. I paired it with CP’s Foolish lipstick.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: All my olive shades – Dior’s 3 Couleurs in Khaki; some of bareMineral’s olive shades – Spectacular (stunning) and Eureka; UD’s Stash.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: Perhaps have an ‘olive’ week – to compare my olive shades would be interesting.
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Look you loved this week?: A look I did for a one brand challenge using Juvia’s Place. EYES — TFSI. The Deuce Palette: Custard (crease, inner socket contour, and lower lid), Macarons (lid), and Tart (brow bone). Warrior III Palette: Candance (deep crease and lower lash line), and Masai (outer 1/3 of lid). Tribe (Vol 3) Highlighter (inner corner). UD 24/7 Eye Pencil in Post Punk (lower waterline). Tarte Gifted Mascara. BROWS — Shade #6 from the Nubian 3 Coral Palette. LIPS — JP Liquid Lipstick in The Empress – Madame matte version lined with a Profusion lip liner. CHEEKS — Leena from the JV The Saharan Blush Palette Volume II. FACE — Boots No. 7 Airbrush Away Primer; JP I Am Magic Velvety Matte Foundation in Marisol; JP I Am Magic Setting Powder in White Sand; a taupe JV eyeshadow for contour (I don’t remember which one); JV Pressed Highlighter in Tribe III; DIY Setting Spray.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: I love the Tribe (Vol 3) pressed highlighter. Really stunning!
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: E.l.f. x Jkissa To the Rescue Palette. I’ve heard some mixed things, so I’m curious to see how good it actually is.
Your skin tone/coloring: Above with freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.
Look you loved this week?: I dusted off my Viseart Amethyst Theory palette for the first time in forever, and while I always seem to do the same look with this palette whenever I do use it, I always LOVE it. These are my favorite purple shadows, forever and ever, amen. Here’s the link if you’re interested in seeing the look! https://www.instagram.com/p/CBQrn9ah0N9/?igshid=o9d7l2iehx69
Any new or old favorites discovered?: I have enjoyed using the Paula’s Choice Super Light Daily Wrinkle Defense Sunscreen as a super super light base. I love the finish and it plays so well with my other makeup, cream or powder.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: I hope my order from Menagerie Cosmetics comes in this week; I ordered the Violet Ink and Pastel Pup palettes and I want to play with them so badly!
Your skin tone/coloring: pale and cool skin (foundation matches: Fenty Pro Filt’r 110, Urban Decay All Nighter 2.5, NARS Natural Radiant Longwear 2.0 Mont Blanc, Kevyn Aucoin The Etherealist Light EF 02, L’Oreal True Match C3 Creamy Natural), gray eyes, brown hair with red highlights and scattered blonde/blue strands. My everyday base products are Fenty-Amber Match Stick as cheek contour and Pro Filt’r concealer and Soft Matte foundation in 110.
Look you loved this week?: On Wednesday I replicated the Colorful look that Kevyn Aucoin did on Kate Moss in Making Faces-shimmery green and gold shadows, turquoise liner, a little pink blush, and shiny pink lips. I used Melt Angelito (from Muerte) as the base shadow, KvD Egypt (from 10-Year Anniversary) shadow in the middle of my lids, UD Gonzo from Electric as liner, Sephora V for Volume Turquoise League mascara, NARS Thrill blush on my cheekbones and temples, and Marc Jacobs Enamored Rebel Rebel gloss. I did make 2 changes-lining my regular lashlines instead of the inner rims and using turquoise mascara instead of black-but otherwise I ended up pretty close to the original!
Any new or old favorites discovered?: I’ve had a lot of luck wearing eyeshadows as liner lately.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: I’m posting this late (1 AM Eastern on Sunday night), so today was my first wearing of Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Electric Poppy lipstick.
