YSL Berry Brazen (88) & Prune Power (89) Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Berry Brazen (88)
YSL Berry Brazen (88) Rouge Pur Couture SPF15 Lipstick ($36.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark red-plum with warmer undertones and a cream finish. It had excellent pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without dragging. The texture was creamy, lightweight, and thin but had enough glide and slip to feel moderately emollient on my lips. It wore nicely for five hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$38.00/0.13 oz. - $292.31 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "rich color with intense hydration ... in just one stroke." The lipstick has moderate slip--some shades are fairly emollient and can feel slippery during wear, while many are creamy but adhere well enough.
I've found that more mid-tone and deeper shades have better applications with smoother, more forgiving color that was semi-opaque or higher in coverage. Some of the lighter and the very deepest shades were more prone to settling into lip lines or yielding more medium to semi-opaque coverage.
The wear ranged from four to six hours on average. I found the formula was usually on the hydrating side. There was a sweet, floral scent with a very subtle taste, though I felt like it sometimes gave me a taste and other times, I didn't notice anything.

Berry Brazen (88)
PPermanent. $38.00.
Prune Power (89)
YSL Prune Power (89) Rouge Pur Couture SPF15 Lipstick ($36.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a deep burgundy with subtle, cool undertones and barely-there pearl throughout paired with a lightly glossy, cream finish. It was smooth, creamy, and had moderate slip but didn’t feel so slippery that it slid around during wear, and I didn’t experiencing any feathering with it personally. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and didn’t seem to emphasize my lip lines, which was more impressive given the depth of color and level of slip. This shade stayed on well for five hours and was lightly moisturizing while worn.

Berry Brazen…so beautiful, but I’m not allowed to buy anymore reds, fuchsias, berries, or plums.
(giggling like a grade-schooler at the name “Prune Power”)
What beautiful colors! Love them both! and I totally use Prune power patted on as a stain 🙂
I have so many lipsticks but I may just make room for this.
Dupes for both, unfortunately. I really wanted Prune Power! Having UD Disturbed and Nars Siouxsie though, means I don’t need it, I suppose. Plus, I have PMG Executive Realness for Berry Brazen. Something tells me that I may well have unwittingly and unintentionally over-saturated my lipstick stash…?
Okay, so there couldn’t be any two shades that would appeal to me better! I have to stop buying lipstick, though!! Luckily I have a Pat McGrath “dupe” for each shade but they aren’t close dupes. I will just have to live with that, though. My lipstick purchases are out of control.
I’m sorry, but “Prune Power” sounds like the name of a laxative.
Prune Power is stunning and it works so beautifully with your eye look.
Berry Brazen appears so dark in the bullet but stunning on application.
If I didn’t have a million and one lippies, it would go on my list..
