I like that they included a matte purple and mauve so you can create a completely purple look and the same with the green. I don’t need this palette, but it’s really pretty to look at and it is cohesive so you can create numerous looks with it.

What a pretty assortment of colours that’s not just your usual plummy, rusty, warm shades for fall. They’re still there, but there’s a little more brightness to this palette with some lighter shades thrown in the mix. I’m not a palette person, but the two bottom rows of swatches has me a little tempted to buy this.

This looks beautiful! I never heard of the brand before reading about it on Temptalia. The website info says they do not sell in China, so I’m hoping that means they are cruelty-free. Would you happen to know for certain? If they are, I just might have to indulge…

The swatches are wonderful!
Christine, do you happen to know where the palette is made? I checked their website and I didn’t see any information. I was thinking that maybe there is mentioned somewhere on the box and on the back of the palette, although I don’t see it in your pictures. Thank you!

Northern CA, I believe. CF, quite sure. Just got some SG, and have been flat out, and when off, out flat, so not a lot of play with product. Initial impressions, positive, with You Only Better, (pressed pigment) needing some anti-fallout fixative. I think any readers who favor this color selection would be quite pleased. And a vote for indies is a vote against the crashing overkill with commercial/mainstream releases.

Thank you kjh! Totally with you on the indie vs. mainstream releases.

I asked SG if they use imported ingredients. They’ve just replied that “currently, all our ingredients are from US vendors”. And yes, their products are made in their lab in Northern CA 🙂

Thanks for confirming that they are indeed cruelty-free. I also read on their Instagram that they are donating part of the sales of this palette to help those affected by the fires in Paradise. It looks like I will be indulging!

BTW it struck me when I looked at your Gallery Page how the first two rows are grouped into a warm palette, and the bottom two are grouped into a cool palette. Really pretty and very helpful!

Not only are they donating, but the owner lives in Paradise, so the fire is very personal for her. Many people she knows lost their homes. I may have, uh, indulged overmuch on Black Friday.

For those wanting swatches, I should point out that Sydney Grace is really popular among indie lovers and there are several large swatch videos on YouTube. Hot Mess Ness MUA wins the prize by swatching her 167 single shadows.

The quality of these eyeshadows truly shines through in these swatches. Like, dang, why couldn’t the 2 MAC PS 6 pans have been this good? To all the mainstream large corporate makeup companies: THIS is how it’s done. Sydney Grace stood up and actually DELIVERED. Which is why so many of us are now looking to this and other indie brands to give us what we’re looking for. ?

SG seems to release singles from palettes, though not all. Their copy is pretty consistent in noting that, e.g., originally from winter garden 16, or some such. They also are super at indicating which shades are being d/c’d. They are fairly diverse in their photos/modeling, and the shade depictions do not scream PHOTOSHOP!! In general, SG seems quite transparent and honest. Personally, I like the cooler bottom rows/last 7, and might get some singles, if released. My delivery time was reasonable, with all shadow sleeves packed into boxes that were clearly conceived to accommodate them, then the 2 boxes tightly nestled in tissue in the packing box. Not artsy/Beautylish, but very safe and pragmatic. These guys make my A list.

Okay, so I had never heard of Sydney Grace but they are on my radar now. The swatches look great, the shades are nice, I love the way the palette is put together with warms on top and cools on the bottom and it looks very cohesive and simple to get many eye looks from it. I think there are nice mattes to work with the shimmers and both brow and transition shades are good. I am really loving this and hope it reviews well. I am sure I have dupes for all these shades but I may pick this up for the way it is curated alone! I also am happy to support any company that donates money, product or time to worthwhile causes and since I lived for many years so close to Paradise, I will probably pick the palette up for that reason alone. I will await your review though, Christine. Swatches are not always indicative of quality, as we all know. And thank you to kjh for all the background info.

Used a few more today. The mattes, other than the pastels, are outstanding. (The pastels are good for what they are.) Concrete road (yes! A gray, for the gray girls, yay!) and cool brown (to me, a gray leaning taupe) are pretty terrific, by themselves or as crease/transition for the cool minded. Any matte I tried had virtually zero fall out. Def going to get the winter 17 on the restock. My order was the No Joke bundle and a few on the pink/purple/gray end. The shimmers swatch well, but have not used them. The word refined comes to mind. But, then I did not select anything highly metallic or bonkers. (Trying to act my age!) I think the pressed pigments will be the only bear to use. Lol. Get it? CA Bear Republic. Our purchases should reflect our personal values. SG can check all of your boxes..at least until corporate grabs them.

These look so nice. I’m very impressed. Maybe the indie brands are listening to the consumers and giving us what we want, not like the mainstream corporate makeup companies that do what they want. This is going to be hard to resist. Thank you Christine, my pocketbook doesn’t thank you though 🙂

I first heard of these through Sarah Hubler (The Beauty Hub) on YouTube. She has a video where she goes into depth on the company, formulas, and offerings followed by swatches of all that she owns. I was impressed and will be placing an order in January.

I really love this. I’m really into that green and blue. I don’t have a lot in those colors. They are a great company and based near my area. Mel Thompson (formerly Puffin’s Wife) did a great review on YouTube. She uses a lot of their products and is a great source for info on Sydney Grace.

Jane Avatar

Stop, my eyes are hurting (from the color)!!! LOL! Great, better than even the ColorPop palette you just did. I’m SOOOO glad I purchased the 15 eyeshadows of various types (yes, I did go there, but during her sale I figured it was worth it) when you and a number of others praised her quality. Christmas is looking blue and beautiful! Countess is so lovely! I’m so into that lavender-grey-blue color that seems hot the past year. And this one looks really nice and opaque.

So far I have 22 Sydney Grace Shadows. I grabbed the 217 Winter bundle last holiday and it’s gorgeous! The mattes are so easy to work with and all of them are very pigmented. The first bunch I ordered was when the company used to be called Feather River Body. With so many great Indie brands out there like SG, Devinah, Breaking Beauty, Tammy Tankuka, there’s no need to keep spending tons of $$ on overpriced products!

Aly Avatar

Really happy to see SG highlighted on the blog! I bought shadows from her back when she was Feather River Body, and I love them. Great quality that stands up to my products I spent WAY more coin on. <3
