OCC Super NSFW Lip Tar Review, Photos, Swatches

So Red Hot, It’s (Super) NSFW

OCC Super NSFW Lip Tar ($16.00 for 0.33 fl. oz.) is described as a “true red with a golden metallic flourish.” It’s a vibrant cherry red with golden shimmer, which gives it a warmer tone overall. The sheen is more noticeable from a normal viewing distance than up close. CoverGirl Burn is darker. CoverGirl Captivate is more berry. Dolce & Gabbana Ruby is more orange. Hourglass Siren is similar but glossier (it is a gloss!).

Richly pigmented, it yielded opaque color in very little product–if you’ve never used a Lip Tar before, I warn you use the smallest amount possible, like one or two millimeters of product squeezed out of the tube.  Lip Tars are best applied with a brush and because they can easily be over-applied, less rather than more, then layered if you need additional product.  This shade stained mildly after I removed it, but it wasn’t as prone to staining as I anticipated (better in my book, but it’s more of a personal preference).  I managed to squeeze in six hours of wear yesterday of this before needing to remove it, and it was still going strong at that point. Based on my experience with Lip Tars, I would say the color would have lasted another two to four hours easily.

I really have to get on the ball with these lip tars. OCC even has a store here in NYC that I’ve never been to– the shame of it all!

Anyway, I LOVE the look in the final picture. I know it’s the same for other swatches you’ve done this weekend, Christine, but it looks particularly great with Super NSFW.

PS, not sure if anyone’s ever mentioned this before on here, but I am grateful for that freckle you have on your lip bc it shows us the opacity of the lip products you swatch. Sorry if that came out weird or if that’s something you’re insecure about, but it is great for completely selfish reasons haha

I always thought the freckle was given by fate for Christine’s job! Hahaha. It makes the job of reviewing opacity so much easier, an important component of judging lip products.

Christine, I’ve heard of people using your freckle to judge which lip products they buy because they want absolutely full-coverage! Seriously!

Lip tars are not my kind of product (I think most regular lipsticks are already waaaaay too much lip product on me), but these look AMAZING! The colour, the texture, the metalic finish, just a huge overall WOW from me.

I have to have it, plain and simple. This is absolutely stunning on you! (Do you ever get tired of hearing that Christine? LOL)

I might wait till I can get it in store to make sure it works with my skin tone first but I already love it!

Yes, the pigment and oil based gloss do separate in the tube, especially if they sit for a while. Just flip them over and they will remix, or you can shake or kneed them to remix it faster. 🙂

Asking for a friend who won’t ask herself – if you mix regular NSFW and Triptych, will you get a similar sheen to Super NSFW? My guess is not but I honestly am not sure so could use input.

This is a pretty red. I could really go for this one.

Christine, this is a beautiful look. I love a bold lip with a fresh natural face. Defo a look I’d love to recreate for New Years.

LOL OOC is really going for it the names this time.

I love the colour! It is super vibrant and NSFW though 😉 I don’t know if I’d have the chance to use this…

They do have a limited selection in Toronto Sephora locations – and you can definitely get all of them online through Sephora as a Canadian customer.

I’m not in the UK, but this website does deliver to other European countries, and since I’m within the EU, no additional taxes.
Thank you very much! 🙂

I bought NSFW and used a lip liner to be safe and it still bleed EVERYWHERE. It actually was the worst bleeding I have ever experience in my entire life, and I am only 21!!! It is sad because Hush never bleeds even without a liner. Urgh. Super NSFW is such a lovely colour~

Mary M Avatar

I have six OCC lip tars and don’t have a problem with bleeding. It might be an application issue – a little definitely goes a long way! To apply I put just the teeniest dot on my hand, dip my brush in, and then apply over my whole lips starting in the middle. usually that itty bitty dot suffices to cover all of my lips. I bet too much product would feather like crazy because the product would slide around before drying.

Of course i don’t have the color NSFW so I can’t be sure how that one feathers 🙂
