Naked Cherry

Urban Decay Naked Cherry Highlighter & Blush Palette ($34.00 for 0.51 oz.) contains a pale peach highlighter, mid-tone pink blush, and iridescent white “topper” (aka highlighter). This palette is definitely going to work best for fairer complexions, though the blush is marketed as “universally-flattering.” The Naked Cherry collection seems like a big launch for the brand, so it struck me as odd not to create standalone cheek colors or else a light and dark version of a cheek trio to reach their very diverse customer base. The quality of the blush left a lot to be desired, so the trio was a big miss for me regardless of whether it was going to show up on my skin tone (which it did).

Naked Cherry #1

Naked Cherry #1 is a pale, peachy-pink with warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer with a fairly soft, blendable texture that was more firmly-pressed in the pan but I didn’t feel it was difficult to pick up product with (other than due to it being a narrower pan). The powder applied well to my cheekbones and didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Naked Cherry #2

Naked Cherry #2 is a medium pink with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had medium color coverage in a single layer, which was buildable to full coverage with three to four layers. It had a stiffer, firmer texture that was difficult to work with, and I had to really jab and push my bristles into the surface to dislodge product. It did not apply as evenly nor did it blend out easily on my skin as I expected. With enough effort, I was able to diffuse the edges for the most part. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me before it started to fade.

Naked Cherry #3

Naked Cherry #3 is a pale white base with cool, bluish-violet sparkle and pearl. It had medium pigmentation that was buildable to semi-opaque coverage, which seemed in line with the brand’s marketing, as this shade was designed as a “topper,” though it can be worn alone. There were flecks of larger sparkle/micro-glitter but not enough that it read truly glittery applied to the skin as I felt like most of the sparkles disappeared between the brush and application onto my cheeks. The texture was smooth to the touch with a bit more slip, but it did not seem as finely-milled as the brand’s Afterglow range of powders (the last formula they had in their line for cheeks). It stayed on for seven and a half hours on me before it started to fade noticeably.

🙁

The Cherry collection launches here on Monday and I have insider access to pre-sales that I’m not going to bother using. None of it excites me at all and quality like this is actually disappointing.
