Dose of Colors Block Party Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a new formula that’s “packed with tons of reflects” for an “ultra-dazzling finish.” It is recommended that they be applied with fingertips for maximum intensity (and the swatches thus use fingertips), but they can be used “using your preferred brush” for softer coverage. Some shades are softer and more cream-like than others, as there were a few that were drier and stiffer, which made them harder to apply with anything other than a fingertip. The product is definitely most pigmented and typically opaque when applied with fingertips, and I think if that’s not something you’re keen on, I’d skip the formula and look for a more traditional powder product in a similar hue or try patting on something more glittery over an existing shade you own.

There was slight to moderate fallout, depending on the shade, during application, and this was intensified whenever I used a brush. I didn’t experience tons of fallout during wear, though. They tended to wear around eight hours before fading or creasing. They have a slightly thicker consistency that made them harder to diffuse and blend into other textures (like Dose of Colors’ matte eyeshadows). I can see these working well for someone who likes to have a spotlight of glitter and shimmer on the center of the lid or who does more cut creases. Overall, some of them are lovely and easy enough to work with, but there were definitely some misses that take patience and effort/additional bases or tools.

There did seem to be similarity to the formula Dose of Colors used in the Desi x Katy Eyeshadow Quad, though it seemed like a lot of the Block Party shades also had dimethicone in them (about mid-way through the ingredient list).

It’s not often that a range of eyeshadows runs the whole gammit from A+ to F but this brand managed to do that.
I loved the shade choices – they were really beautiful and it was hard to pick favourites – Teal Me More was just stunning.
Thank you for the review Christine.

I purchased Olive You and Hot Mesh after reading your reviews. I was hoping Hot mesh was a dupe for DOC Turbosan, which I love to layer over BB Pale Mauve shadow stick, but Hot Mesh has a darker base . I love the Olive one and have been using it often! I would like to get Teal Me More also, but cannot seem to find a pan of it in store that isn’t damaged.
