MAC Keep It Casual Lip & Cheek Colour
MAC Keep It Casual Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colour ($20.00 for 0.43 fl. oz.) is described as a “warm wine.” It’s a muted red that turns a little raspberry red-like when it’s blended out. It looks a little like MAC Mocha when applied sheer on cheeks. MAC Mighty Aphrodite is pinker. Smashbox Blushing/Peony is similar. On lips, it’s a raspberry red with a muted quality, and it’s opaque with little product needed. NARS Flamenco is redder. NARS Afghan Red is darker. Guerlain Rose Bengale is a smidgen lighter and has shimmer. Guerlain Guet-Apens is more berry-hued. MAC Positively Dashing is more berry, less pink. MAC Deliciously Forbidden has less red.
For an in-depth review of the formula, please see this post. The main takeaways were that as a blush, this yields a dewy finish that might be just the wrong side of dewy for some, but it may be the perfect recipe for those with drier skin; as a lip color, the finish is more like a satin matte, and it has a slightly clingy nature that works as a way to make the color lightweight and very natural-looking.
This shade in particular is one of the more intense shades, so it does have a lot more color payoff, which means it’s best to use a lighter hand with it. It’s very blendable, but it’s also incredibly buildable–this will be a real stunner on deeper complexions. Â I tested the wear of this yesterday, and it managed to wear as a blush for about seven hours, which was pretty good, and on the lips, just under six hours.

Christine, for the blush look, did you use fingers or a brush (and which?) or a combo of both. I love the look of this product but I’m thinking it needs a light hand when used as a blush. Â Think I’ll pick up one of these this weekend if I get the time.
@Mariella I used fingers for all of these!
I love berry hued shades, will definitely pick up this one when it launches in India. You look gorgeous!
Gorgeous!! Woohoo! I Am waiting for this in the mail and now I’m even more excited.
Ooh I utterly love tihs shade! 🙂
I love this as a lip color! Looks great as a blush, but I would I really love the lip color!
This lip looks so pretty on you Christine! Â But, these duo products on the cheek just do not appeal to me and I think it’s the finish which is simply too gooey dewy. Â The colour payoff looks really fab for this shade and I agree, this one would look incredible on deep skintones.
Stunning on the lips… but not so keen on it on the cheeks. I’d love to pick this up… but there’s just so much product I’m fairly certain I’d never be able to finish this product if I only used it on my lips. Bit of a shame. I like the close dupes comparison though.Â
LOVE this as a lipcolor
Love it as a lip color, but it looks awful on the cheeks in certain lighting. :
Looks a lot like a deeper version of Mac Capricious lipstick !! Thanks for the swatches Christine!
Between my oily t-zone and this product on my cheek, I think I’d look just too “oily”. Love the range of colors though.
Â
This is so pretty! I think I may need it.
This one is really, really lovely!
I love this one on you the best of the three you’ve just tried on. It looks beautiful on you! :+)
The Keep It Casual shade is a winner. It looks great on you!
I got this one and weekend getaway! Thanks so much!
hey Christine! would you say “keep it casual” is in any way similar to MAC’s Viva Glam Cyndi? it kinda looks like a sort of corally red shade in the pictures and if it’s a dupe to Cyndi that would be awesome cuz I totally missed out on that one lol
It’s less of a coral – this lacks a lot of the warmth and coral of Viva Glam Cyndi!
You are SO beautiful, Christine! Especially in videos! I was like this when I saw your vids: O_O Dang.
