Today, I’m asking for your go-to, “nude” lipsticks (specific shades, please!). If you’re a long-time reader, you know that I’m not keen on the term “nude,” hence the quotes, as it too often means light beige, when it should really mean flesh-toned, which can come in assortment of shades! I can’t wait to see your recommendations so I can breakdown the results in a post later on by skin tone.

The 10 most recommended “nude” lipsticks are listed below, and the list will automatically update as more recommendations are made!

You can view all recommendations here, where you can also refine recommendations by things like price, skin type, skin tone, etc. and share your own recommendations. If you think you might be making recommendations often, consider registering and filling out your profile as the form will pre-fill with your profile information for you each time!

Thank you for taking the time to add your recommendations to our database! 🙂

Sephora lipstick in 11, Love Letter is a perfect nude lip for me. (NW13) It leans more towards MLBB but that’s what I’m going for, mostly. I also like Velvet Teddy.

My vote goes to NARS Rikugien. (I’m about NC15-20.) MAC Midimauve is so perfectly nude that it’s the exact color of my lips, though. Good use of money, self.

I love Rikugien and Midimauve! NARS Rosecliff is so perfectly MLBB (which is what I consider better than nude, actually) that I’ve stocked up on it to a silly extent, yet I still for some reason bought MAC Modesty which turned out to be a near-perfect dupe for Rosecliff… meaning, of course, that I didn’t need it at all.

I’m around an NC42 and can be a little darker in the summer. My favorites are: MAC Spirit, MAC Stripdown lip liner, Nudestix magnetic matte lip color in Boho, and Nudestix magnetic matte lip color in Greystone!

Hmmmm…most nudes seem to wash me out. I’m fair with dark hair. My lips are quite pigmented on their own. Used to rock Clinique Tenderheart lipstick in the 90’s that was one of my go to shades. Others that come to mind are… , Revlon Lip Butter’s (d/c’d boo!) in the shades Pink Truffle and Berry Smoothie.
NYX butter lipstick in Root Beer Float. UD Revolution in Sheer Rapture. Revlon Super Lustrous in the shades #463 Sassy Mauve and #473 Mauvy Night.
Smashbox Be Legendary lipstick in Famous. Rimmel #070 Airy Fairy.
Almay Butter Kiss in #30 Light Nude.
Clinique Tender Taupe lip liner.
Too Faced the Perfect Nude lip liner.
Milani lipsticks in the shades #25 Naturally Chic, #17 Plumrose, #42 Rose Femme, and #43 Pretty Natural.
Buxom lipstick in Dolly.
I usually tend to mix at least 2 shades in an attempt to get a “nude MLBB” shade. I didn’t add in any lip glosses above but i’ll use them to lighten, darken, or add some sparkle in my nude lippie attempt. Those revlon lip butters are/were awesome damnit! Why do they d/c everything I love? Like I said earlier, so many nudes wash me out and give me a corpse like look…some examples are Loreal’s Fairest Nude and Too Faced le creme in Nude Beach. So it’s a constant work in progress and I still haven’t found an HG yet.

I may get a lil spankin for this, idk lol..but I really feel Velvet Ted is overrated. The color isn’t bad…though it reads too brown for me to wear…the formula is way too dry. It is just not fun wearing something that dry…especially in a dry climate, lol. And no..I really shouldn’t have to apply a lip balm under my matte to prevent full on sand effects lol.

I don’t have much luck with nudes…and I am way gunna sound dated and in my own ways maybe lol..but Lancome made wonderful nudes in the mid 90s that were so wonderfully matte and pretty but not drying. I tend to compare recent nudes to my old, long discontinued and *nowhere* to be found faves..and they all seem to fall a little flat.

I’m a little confused by this one. The title says for your skin tone and a few people have posted that in the comments, but the list doesn’t break it down by skin tone. It seems like there would be different recommendations depending on undertone and light to dark. Any chance you would consider reattacking this one with a breakdown of light/medium/dark and warm/neutral/cool? (Whatever the MAC corresponding “codes” are for all that.) Thanks.

My two picks are both Armani – Rouge D’Armani in 103 for a satiny lipstick and Rouge Ecstasy in 104 Skin for a more balm-like, slightly sheer version.

**Peach really needs to be added to the list of undertones.

Dark Tan (Medium Deep) w/ peach undertones and some of my favs are:
1. Milani Color Statement Lipsticks in Teddy Bare, Plumrose, Naturally Chic
2. Kat Von D Ever Lasting Lipstick in Lolita

I’m NC15 and Hourglass lip stylo in Influencer, Marc Jacobs liquid lip in Fawn Over Me, and Chanel coco rouge in Adrienne are my favorite nudes. All are very much MLBB. For a little more impact, Pat McGrath’s new lipstick in 1995 is a nude that pops and has an unexpected (but really pretty) violet cast to it – this may me some weird lighting trick or just my skin tone.

I had to click the link because you used Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip as an icon and I’m a suckered for it!

I have a light to light-medium skin tone (is NC20-25 light or light medium? Hmm) and my nudes are so not in this list.

Warm nude: NARS Audacious in Jane and Kylie Velvet Lipstick in Harmony
Pinky nude: NARS Audacious in Apoline and Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip in Pink Buff
Dark nude: Shiseido Rouge Rouge in Rose Crush

I can’t wear flesh-toned lipsticks as they look sickly on me. My recommendations for ‘nudes’ for a light-to-medium skintone are:

Bobbi Brown – Bahama Brown
Tom Ford – Negligee
MAC – Taupe

My skin tone is somewhere between tan and deep-dark. My go-to ‘nude’ lipsticks are MAC Cherish, MAC Patisserie, MAC Hug Me, MAC Velvet Teddy and Milani Matte Beauty.

I’m light-medium (NC25), with olive undertones wich makes it soooo difficult to find a decent nude lipstick. My favorite was MAC Underplay, but it’s been long discontinued. Now, after a long research I usually go for Bite Beauty Honey Berry or Dolce & Gabbana Almond lipsticks…

I’m an NW10/15 with brown eyes and hair, and I’m all about Dior Incognito. I’ve tried a lot of nudes, and I wear different types, but that’s my go-to. It’s the perfect neutral-cool beiges pink that has just enough translucence to look natural. Great color for women in the light-medium spectrum.
