MAC Amazon Princess Blush Duo Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Amazon Princess Blush Duo
MAC AMAZON PRINCESS BLUSH DUO ($24.00 for 0.38 oz.) is described as a bright yellow pink and deep blue pink with gold pearl. The official descritpion baffles me, honestly! The blush itself is super-sized, being about the size as a Beauty Powder. A normal blush is 0.21 oz. ($18.50), while this is almost double the quantity. In comparable terms, the normal size is $88/oz. and the mega size is $63/oz. Despite the larger size, the way they split the blush still makes it a little difficult to use the smaller shade alone (I tried using the 116–you have to be careful, not a lot of room).
The larger side of the blush is a cool-toned, blue-based magenta pink with a satin finish, which is very pigmented and easy to over-do, so use a light hand. The smaller side of the blush is a dark berried pink with soft gold sheen, and it is also nicely pigmented.
final thoughts: This will suit cooler skin tones, because of the stronger blue-base in the magenta shade. Because of the intensity of the colors, it will work beautifully on darker complexions.

how does this compare to Bi-tone mineralize blush?
None of the Too Fabulous blushes compare well to either of the blushes from this launch. They’re all too muted/sheer.
good to know, because i swear from first glance they look alike. thanks!
Hey Christine, is the gold lining on the inside of the compact sprayed-on or is the plastic itself gold? Thanks so much for your review!!
It seems sprayed on but not poorly done? Like I can’t really tell but it feels like plastic, so…
oh gosh that both shades look AMAZING on you!
These are gorgeous colors, and they look great on you! I think I’m probably too pale to pull something this bright off, though. Thanks for getting all these reviews out so quickly!
The larger side is definitely cooler toned, your descriptions are always bang-on. I’m confused as to why MAC describes it as yellow based. Although, for foundations, they consider yellow undertones as cool, if I recall correctly. Perhaps that’s why?
I was hoping it wasn’t too close to Band of Roses…gah!!! I think I’ll have to get the other blush…if it shows up NC50ish.
I think that the colours are too strong, show off too much, you definitely have to have a light hand touch if you don’t want to look like a clown. Not my cup of tea, I’ll pass!
Are these the same size as a normal MSF?
I’m wondering because I’d love to pop it out and put my natural MSF in the container. That way it’s a lot cuter, and has a mirror!
They seem about the size.
I am NC45 in foundation will this work for me?
Sure!
Thank you. You are the best I really appreciate what you do the swatches and the reviews are amazing. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to do this for the millions of makeup lovers.
If you compared this to band of roses what would you say is the main difference?

Eek cookor is way too bright…looks like costume makeup colors, i love wonder woman and was excited about this but after seeing the swatches i think i’ll pass on this collection
I don’t like these colours, they are too bright, although with a light hand I expect they’d look okay. I don’t want to buy these in a super sized compact though as I just wouldn’t use them. They’d look great on dark skin though.
Love the lip color in these pictures here. Could you pls tell me what you are wearing on your lips??
Thanks!
Please check the FAQ!
Must have!
i love love love the darker side! what a gorgeous color! i’m going to buy a blush that matches just that color.
Are these colors meant to be worn one at a time or swirled together?
However you want 🙂
Thx for the reply! I love the color combination of your lips and cheeks. Gorgeous!! I’m not really liking the package but the product itself seems great!
Is the bright pink similar to ‘her blooming cheek’ from the Tartan Tale collection?
Never mind! lol
I want them both!
OK so I’m passing on this one for sure. I have two blushes that resemble both sides of this blush. It’s very pretty though!
Totally reminded me of Band of Roses.
I can’t decide whether to get this or Mighty Aphrodite, but after seeing how bright this is, I’ll probably grab the latter. One problem though, I’m cool toned and pale (not too pale and I have freckles) do you think that Mighty Aphrodite would still work on me?
I think it could!
I have Her Blooming Cheek and Madly Magenta but this blush duo seems right up my alley. Even more excited about this one now.
is this close to the vintage grape blush? i cnt tell but i dnt need 2 super sized purple based blushes lol but it looks soooo lovely
Not really – it’s pretty different.
would it be okay for nw15? too pigmented?
It could work — just use a light hand!
How does this compare to Azalea Blossom blush ombre?
Too dark, not nearly bright enough or pink enough.
Which would be best for a NC40 girl like me? Mighty Aphrodite or Amazon Princess?
Mighty Aphrodite
I’m so excited for this! I wasn’t really excited about this collection at first glance, but I definately am now. Also, I am in love with that bright magenta pink color 🙂
hey christine!
your eyemakeup looks so pretty. what do you have on your eyes in these pics? green liner?
It is listed in the FAQ!
hi christine
how does the lighter pink/magenta side compare with NARS blushes like desire and angelika? tks!
Similar to Angelika I’d say!
christine, what is that blush you’re comparing amazon princess to? its so pretty!
All the swatches in the post are of Amazon Princess!
I bought mighty aphrodite today and it looks really nice but im still undecided whether to buy amazon princess as well…I have a quite pale skin tone (NW20), do you think it would look too intense?
I think it would work!
I just want to say, thank you so much for your review!!! This is my FIRST blush from MAC. I was really interested in the collection. It’s very pigmented.
I’ve Got Yellowish Orange Undertones, I Think I’m Around An NW 43 Kind Of Shade, I’m Wondering Whether Amazon Princess Or Mighty Aphrodite Will Look Better? Also If Marquis’d Would Suit My Skin Tone?
Mighty Aphrodite!
Christine,
Can you tell me if this is a dupe of Love Rock Mineralize Blush from the Grand Duo’s collex.? Love Rock is the most flattering blush I have ever come across and I am dying to find a dupe!!! Thanks! Also any suggestions for other dupes would be very very apprecited!
Nope, it’s not!
