MAC Sur Blush Review, Photos, Swatches (Mickey Contractor)
MAC Sur Blush
MAC Mickey Contractor: Sur Blush
MAC Sur Blush ($18.50 for 0.21 oz.) is new and limited edition blush from MAC Mickey Contractor. MAC describes it as a “dirty rose brown” with a satin finish. When I swatched, I found Sur to be a rosied brown with a pearly sheen. It’s a really nice natural blusher–it’ll give your cheeks a little oh-la-la and dimension without too much color. I see this working well on light to medium-dark skin tones; darkest skin tones may find it gets lost when used.
It seems quite comparable to Notable (Makeup Art Cosmetics, ’09)–possibly a touch lighter and with a more noticeable sheen. It seems similar to Blushbaby, too, though browner.
P.S. — On eyes, I am wearing Jaan eyeshadow on the lid, Vivah eyeshadow on the outer lid/crease, Folie in the crease, Burberry Trench to highlight, Ivy fluidline on upper lash line, Urban Decay Perversion on lower water line, Jaan eyeshadow on lower lash line. On lips, I am wearing Yash lipstick with Lust lipglass on top. On cheeks, I am wearing Sur Blush.
MAC Mickey Contractor will be available on January 6th at select North American stores and January 2011 for select international stores. It will be available online on approximately January 4th but may not be available until the 6th.

FINAL THOUGHTS: It’s a very easy, everyday kind of blush that’s everyday without adding color but more about definition and dimension. It does add some color, don’t get me wrong, but it’s very natural.

Ooh, this is lovely! In the swatch it almost looks to have a mauve sheen… am I making this up, or is it really there?
p.s. thanks for getting these up so fast, Christine! If you ever wonder if people appreciate how much time and effort you put into this… don’t! We do!
Love at first sight!!!!!!!
Hey Christine, how noticeble/ nice would this look on NC40/ NC42s?? Thanks in advance;)
I think it would be nice! It won’t be super intense, but it is a buildable shade.
hi christine!
how do you think this blush compares to “pinch me” by mac? i own pinch me and i’m debating on whether getting this one or not. it looks very similar just less shimmery.
-grace
I’d say it is different from Pinch Me – more plum.
Is this anything like Desert Rose or am I totally off? =/
Nah, not really like it – browner, less pink.
Ivy fluidline looks really good with your eyes!
I really like this shade, but I already have Blushbaby. Do you think they’re similar enough that I can skip Sur?
You could probably skip, though they’re not dupes.
Hello Christine (: would this be close to tenderling in terms of color? Tendering is my HG everyday blush! So is the oh so fair beauty powder from venomous villains. They’re basically the same shade. Thanks! (:
I would say it’s more plum.
i love this…im going to get this when it comes out in india…
Oh and that lipstick looks so gorgeous on you…
i love both of the blushs in this collection
I love this blush on you! It looks great. I am planning on picking this up.
Hi Christine Happy New Year to you! How does Sur blush compare to Raizin blush please? That is if you do have Raizin. I was thinking of buying the Saffron eyeshadow and using that as a blush possibly.
Raizin is soooo much darker!
Hey! What do you think of this blush on very fair, cool-toned gals? Do you think it would be too dark/overpowering?
Noo, it could work! It’s very buildable.
I have to have it!
Looks very natrual on you!
wow, that is a pretty look, from lips to cheeks to eyes – gorgeous!
how does this compare to mac gingerly? x
Not really like it at all!
How does it compare to Mac darkly my dear blush from vv.? It seems similar.
It is similar – a touch more plum.
Hi Christine,
How do you think this compares to Darkly My Dear from the villians collection, color-wise? Thanks 😀
Very similar!
Is it similar to Benefit Dallas blush?
If it is I’m looking for a cheaper alternative…
Less plum!
I think they’re extremely close – Dallas is more shimmery but that’s the only diff I found. I have it in the Dallas palette
Dallas seems so much plummier on me!
Is it only me or it looks like Nars Dolce Vita to anyone ??
Love it, love it, love it! I just love this look on you and I can’t wait to get that Ivy fluidline!Im so used to wearing Black on my upper lashline so I cannot wait to try that one out for a change.
oh my gosh.. i need the 2 blushes too.. why do you do this
SOOO GORGEOUS!!
It’s a nice cheek color for colorful eyeshadows, it doesn’t compete. Your makeup looks very harmonious here, I love the look. Have you tried Lancome Shimmer mocha havana? This looks similar, so I may have to bring it with me to compare when I go to the MAC counter.
Haven’t tried it!
Oh this is nice, the right kind of everyday shade for me. Will be on my list!
So pretty! I really like the look of this blush and that it isn’t overly pink. Do you think it would be lost on an NC45 face, Christine? Would layering it with a cream blush first help bring out that lovely color?
I think it would show up subtly – it is buildable enough 🙂
hey christine, is this blush silimar to mac darkly my dear from vv??
I will be doing comparisons soon, just sit tight! 🙂
very flattering blush color on you
How is it in comparism to Nars Douceur?
Thanks
Redder in tone, more pigmented.
hey christine! 🙂
do you think that this blush would look natural on a NC 15 skin shade??
thanks in advance ;))
Yes!
I was wondering how this blush would compare to Darkly My Dear from the Venomous Villains collection. I am trying only to get two or three things from this collection, and I really do not wear blush that often but I fell in love with this colour. The only blush I have from MAC is Darkly My Dear, and I realized they may be dupes. What would you say?
It is similar, not quite as red!
