Who is Mickey Contractor, and why can’t about a billion people live without him? The answer involves breaking out into song and dance, because long before Glee, Mickey made the dashing heroes and exotic enchantresses of Bollywood Cinema into the famous faces throngs of fans want to look like. As M·A·C’s Director of Makeup Artistry for India, he’s more than an icon to a glamorous Eastern audience – he has mentored in-the-know Artists around the world for over three decades. These exclusive collections of Mickey’s musts are all about natural skin tonality and total performance, in addition to colour with a touch of exotic cine-magic. Foundation, Concealer, Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder, goddess-gorgeous Eye shades, Lipstick, Lipglass and Blush, with his favourite brushes to star in your own big Bollywood hit.

Meanings of names given to the products:

Yash = Success
Gulabi = Pink
Athma = Soul
Jaan – Life
Vivah = Marriage
Rani = Queen
Siahi = Ink
Gana = Song

These are in HINDI the national language of India.
Sur = Melody

Vijaya Avatar

Also, since Resham missed it, Mehr is a Hindu warrior tribe in Punjab. And I think it’s a way of thanking God for Punjabi people as well, but someone Punjabi would probably know better.

shakz Avatar

wiked, thanx for that resham, while i speak mirpuri some of the words/names are quite familiar while others of which i was thinking huhh??? sounds like a great colection tho, cant w8 for the double ended moister blend as i love the concealer!!!!

Hannah Avatar

This collection sounds really cool and interesting 🙂 Hope you don’t mind if I point out a small typo, you put lipglass twice instead of lipstick. I’m not usually a grammar freak, promise 🙂

Shivani Avatar

Carbon and Folie are two of Mickey’s favorite eyeshadows. He uses these two a lot in his looks on actresses. I guess that’s why they have included it. Not to mention, they’d look as good on everyone, as they do on Indian skin-tones.

amalia Avatar

looks like im buying all the eyeshadows and lipglasses! lipsticks nah and i cant wait to see the blushes!!! thank goodness MAC is not releasing anymore new collections till after christmas soo I can save up for this collection, champale, peackocky and stylishly yours!

tehteh Avatar

why am I not excited? oh yeah…I rarely use anything that I bought from MAC except the Moisture Cover and the lipsticks…

I’m tepted by the Turquoise Fluidine, because I love the color, and I love fluidlines but until I can manage it I won’t be wearing liner much so…I’ll probably just buy the Sephora or the MUFE pencil instead and even that won’t get that much use for a while =(

Anya Avatar

I think I will be getting a lot from this collection, I am hoping the coral/yellow corrector proves to be quality and useful. I know Folie’s a re-promote, but it’s one of my favorite MAC e/s’s.

SiaM Avatar

I would love to see a girl of India wearing all these great colors as a promo pic =) That would be globally gorgeous and inspiring 🙂
Of course most colors sound like many people could wear them so I’m in for this collection

ki Avatar

Hey – Indians tend to have a wide diversity of skintones (and sometimes, uneven colouring like a darker forehead) so all MAC stores in India have 0.5 colours 🙂 I’m an NC43.5 myself!

I guess they though it’s time to give the rest of the world a chance to try a foundation that shade that isn’t just about right, it’s bang on!

Twaniesha Avatar

This collection will only be at 22 MAC locations that includes overseas, so who knows which stores will be lucky to get them. I doubt any counters will get them.

macloli Avatar

I was told at update that only the top 22 MAC stores are receiving this collection. I’m so upset by that because this collection would be so beautiful on my mom. I always have to mix NC42 and 44 and make something work. ugh. hopefully o can order it on the pro site.

laura Avatar

a few stand-outs to me, mostly the fludlines; but, overall, i find this to be disappointing when i wanted it to be/thought it could be really exciting. maybe the photos will prove reality to be different, but things sound sort of subdued from the color descriptions and i thought there could have been a ton of exciting, bright colors.

Katie Avatar

I’ve never really gotten into fall and winter makeup collections, which is good because then I have a lot of saved money to spend on spring and summer. Super excited spring collections are already coming out in January!

regina Avatar

It’s to early for me to decide whether or not I am interested until I actually see pictures. It is so hard for me to visualize the decriptions.

lia Avatar

hahah, interesting to see all the Hindi words… wonder how they chose the colors for “life” (jaan) and “athma” (soul) and all the others…

Anjali Avatar

Sooo happy that MAC + Mickey Contractor will finally be delivering (hopefully) appropriate colors for the Indians! Yay! And I’m happy to see the “.5” shades in foundation…how many times have I wished for those myself?!?! “

Lea Avatar

I really hope those new concealer/foundation shades are trial runs from MAC to see if there is a market for them and then to be made permanent eventually, because otherwise it would be SO annoying if someone found their perfect match and they wouldn’t be able to re-purchase.

Brenda Avatar

I wonder why they’re making limited edition foundation colours…. I work at Sephora and I find that (I’m assuming here that those colours would work particularly well for East Indian women) East Indian women have a lot of trouble finding foundation that’s just the right colour, they usually have to settle for something slightly off because of their olive/yellow undertones.

MissChels Avatar

I agree. It would be a much better idea if they were going to make these permanent. No one should HAVE to mix two shades to find the perfect one when there are so many options out there. I have an Indian friend who always has to mix foundations to get a good match and she hates it. She has to buy way to much foundation and never knows exactly how to mix it the same and always throws it out before she finishes it because she doesn’t use it enough.

Nimmi Avatar

In have to mix mine too depending on the weather

Also the foundations tend to give me a very ruddy and unusual pallor that looks HORRIBLE on camera.

I’m looking really forward to these foundations! Maybe I’ll find a match….for once!

Ally Avatar

Better start saving now because if these colors are based off of the colors of India, im going to be broke and buy everything. They use the prettiest colors in fabrics in India.

Emma Avatar

Know this might sound silly but will there be special packaging with this collection. The whole theme lends to ornate packaging if so. Very excited. Love the sound of everything!

Amrita Avatar

Being East Indian, I find this so interesting!

I’ll definitely have to splurge on this, and my parents probably won’t mind either! :”D Haha. I’m excited now! 🙂

Amrita Avatar

Oh and I JUST noticed they have my foundation colour! NC 41! I’ve found that NC 42 is too dark, and nc 40 is just slightly a little too light, so, I wear the Pro Long wear foundation in NC 40. I’m gonna stock up! 😀

MissChels Avatar

All of these colors sound like they will work amazingly well for my good friend who happens to be Indian. As for me I am excited for the fluidlines. But the blushes sound interesting (in a good way) and I will definitely have to look at the lipsticks and shadows.

Amanda Dubs Avatar

Wow this sounds great. I’ve become a little obsessed with MAC over the course of the past two months. And I’m really thankful for the people at my store recommending your site 🙂

Nazia Avatar

OMGOSH, I can’t wait for the studio fix to get here!!! FINALLLY! Thank goodness, I didn’t repurchase mine this weekend, I can hold out and use drugstore foundation for the next two months! A few months back I was planning to go to Dubai just to get my shade! LOL I’m so excited for the entire collection!

Anna Banana Avatar

It says limited distribution. Does anyone know what that means? Will it be sold in all freestanding stores, or just online? Thanks so much!

Christine Avatar

From the limited info out right now, it sounds like only certain stores (usually top performs, and then probably heavier distribution in regional areas like India), so it won’t be at all MAC stores/counters. However, they DO usually have it online.

Fasiha Avatar

Hello,
I was just wondering if it was still a limited release. The info on this site is from two months ago so I just need to be sure it’s going to be available in Canada. Thanks so much =)

K.Jai Avatar

Omg!!! I just returned my NC45 studio fix foundation bc it was just wasn’t right! Hopefully this new foundation will help… Btw I’m a light complextion A.American

Elle Avatar

Love how all of this sounds. I’m glad this sounds promising because I’m not loving the holiday stuff…but at least I know I’ll have $ saved up for this 🙂 Thanks for sharing Christine!

Adail Avatar

Saffron eyeshadow sounds beautiful! I’m also looking forward to seeing the fluidlines! I love that they’re doing another Indian-inspired collection…I missed out on Manish Arora

Eleonora Avatar

I totally want the Ivy fluidline (but I will probably get both LOL). Seems gorg. But I’ll wait for the swatches before I set my mind 😀

Also, Jaan and Saffron seem to be two pretty colors I’d wear.
Do you think the Flash lipglass would look good on Creme d’nude?

Tantalizing Eyez MUA Avatar

I am looking forward to the fluidlines(have to get 1 for me and 1 for kit.ah color) and some of the lip and eyeshadows. I will have to check out the Studio Fix Fluid Foundations(LE). I like SFFF but not sure if I would want/need the LE ones yet. Thanks for the info Christine!!!

Ru Avatar

Amazing. I can’t wait to see the swatches. I really hope they use some South East Asian beauties to display the makeup. I really love that MAC is representing and catering to different cultures. This may be the collection that turns me on to MAC. I’m not sure who this makeup artist is… but I guess a little googling will help.

Livia Avatar

OMG!I’m soooo happy because of the new fluidline shades:)I hope we’ll going to have it here in Hungary…we hadn’t had the dare to wear coll. so I’m hoping for this one….

Judy Avatar

This sounds amazing! I love cosmetics from around the world. Actually, I think this is something MAC should consider sometime in the future. My heritage is: Dutch, Spaniard and Greek from my mom and Russian & Polish from my dad. I’d love to see what cosmetic colors those countries as well as others have or are considered “in”.
Woo Hoo. You go MAC. My wallet is crying, but I’m delighted. 🙂

Michelle Avatar

FINALLY! A collection that has me pumped! I can’t wait for this, Safron e/s is first on my list. Love the names, the color story, the blushes sound amazing, just awesome!!!!!!

Meghann Avatar

The foundation 44.5 catches my eye. I have to use Bobbi Brown golden 6 since I have yellow undertones. nc45 looks to red on me and nc44 looks ashy. So I’ll see if this one works if not, sticking with BB.

Chloe Avatar

Sur, corrector sticks and some of the eyeshadows stand out to me a lot.

Will this collection be global as it saids there is limited distribution ?? or could it mean that it only reaches the mac stores but not counters ??

Cherokee Avatar

Definitely going to shop this collection in support of my Indian heritage. My great great grandparents are from India. Most of my Indian family are in Belize (big up) and all over the States. Gotta grill one of them since my granny died on where in India my family is from. Very interested in the double end concealer.

AshleyMelissa Avatar

Christine PLEASE tell me that this collection will be released in Canada…. I am so excited for it and would be really disappointed if it wasn’t.

Majda Avatar

I’m stoked for the NC44.5 foundation! I always consider myself somewhere between 44 and 45. I think this line will be great for all of us brownies. 😀

Mally Avatar

The colors are amazing! My favorite eyeshadow from the whole collection is Marvel! It’s the most beautiful purple eyeshadow ever! It goes on like butter and its super vibrant! Better than vibrant grape and MUFE #92!

Mehak Avatar

OMGGG…im so excited about Mickey Contractor and mAC, He is literally the god of make up artistry in India and a person i hugely admire and respect. Eagerly waiting for swatches…love the names too

Ridz Avatar

Must haves for me
Eyeshadow:
Jaan (that’s what me and my partner have called each other from the time we began dating so I need this in OUR life – and I’m sure he’ll have no objections me spending money to buy this haha!)
Athma
Saffron
Folie

Both blushes sound amazing, Flesh lipglass, Corrector and NC41 is the ONE!!! I usually wear NC42 which I kinda pat down with a lighter powder to even things out and NC40 is way too light… so only way forward in life is by purchasing a million NC41s – Basically all these items are basically tailor made for moi! L.O.V.E!

What else to get…? … Hmmm … oh yea, another job :/

401 Avatar

I’m in between NC40 and NC42, so NC41 would be the perfect match! Super excited for this collection, but I saw a few pics on another website and feel like the collection isn’t as good as it sounds! We will see, hopefully, I’m wrong!

LERI Avatar

I THINK IM ALSO A NC41 BUT I JUST CALLED MAC AND THEY WILL NOT HAVE IT AVAILABLE IN THE US, I’M VERY DISSAPOINTED AND DESPERATE TO KNOW WHERE I CAN GET IT? ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Ruby Avatar

Yay! I’m bi-racial, black and japanese and these colors are right up my alley. I can’t wait to try to .5 because I have to mix most foundations to get my exact right color. I also am a fan of matte lippies. Looks like my wallet will be depleted with this collection. Can’t wait.

zee Avatar

I went to the MAC counter at Nordstrom and that lady told me its only going to be in the Pro stores. does anyone know more info on this, i really want to get these products 🙁

Karrie Avatar

Hi Christine, Athma is the Name of the Eyeshadow Quad not a single colour.

Eyeshadow Quad Athma
Jaan – light neutral with soft gold pearl (Lustre)
Vivah – brown with gold pearl (Lustre)
Folie – Reddish-plum brown (Satin) (permanent)
Carbon – Intense black (Matte) (permanent)

Ryan Avatar

obviosuly carbon is permanent. I think everyone gets confused when mac puts permanent colors in a collection… its just to complete the them. would you rather them try to make a color we have already seen a million times? well mac does tend to do that butI always support mac for throwing in permanent colors.

Jessie Brar Avatar

WOW I am attending a wedding in India next summer and was wondering what e/s to buy so yeahhhh buying this collection ……… omg m excited !!

daphne Avatar

OMG. Okay the lip items and the quad do nothing for me and I think it’s a disgrace that they are releasing these new foundation colors only to make them LE (what, you can only throw a bone to POC for a limited period of time?) but but but…

Those EYESHADOWS! The FLUIDLINES! OMG I haven’t been so excited for MAC colors in ages. I am actually sort of sad – I went out and bought MUFE Aqua Cream #22 because I thought I’d never get the green eyeliner I wanted. But Ivy looks like it’s an even better fit for what I desired than the Aqua Cream.

inj Avatar

Lol, I see theres some kinda Indian MAC fans outburst. I’m actually kind of happy theres no stand out and they seem mainly like neutrals. At least we’re sure they’re ALL perfect for us. Theres enough MAC collections of color out right now which we have to sort through (too warm/cool? too light/dark?? hmmm will I end up wearing this?)but this seems like the ‘Indian skin collection’. They may look a little boring in the promo but I have faith. 😛 Fabulous 🙂

Lucie Avatar

Ooohhh, really loving the idea behind this one! Wishing they wouldn’t always have white models for collections though…it would be nice to see someone of real Indian heritage wearing the products!

saku Avatar

They also look Indian to me. Maybe she meant tanner, darker skin Indian? People come in all shades, but to me I mostly seen darker Indian ladies in my area, than mostly what’s in the promo pics.
I’m in between shades also. So I wonder what the concealer will be like. Those eyeshadows, want, lol.

Trish Avatar

I really wanted to like this collection but most of the colors seem too ‘warm’ for my NW43/45 skin. The fluidlines look nice but I’m not a big fan of them. I’ll blow my $$$ on Peacocky instead.

Dini Avatar

I think I love everything. Can’t wait for this to come out. Sad that the studio fix will be limited editon, tho. If I find a good color match, I’d better stock up, I suppose….

Eliza Avatar

I love how MAC produces a collection for the fair skinned (like me), then a collection for women of Indian heritage!

gotta love their diversity! sounds cliche, but so true!

jennifer Avatar

I kind of expected this collection to be a little more bright, pretty but I’ll..probably will pass on this one :/ nothing is telling me “buy me now!”. Other then that the models looks gorgeous. Indian women are beautiful :]

Katie Avatar

This is a collection I’m putting my money on. I haven’t seen one like this from MAC in a while. To be honest, I’ve been really disappointed with their collections lately because they’re either lacking in quality or the collection is based around the name (ahem, Disney). This color story looks fresh and sophisticated yet fun. I’m excited!

aradhana Avatar

i totally agree with you…i was getting tired of the alliterative titles (venomous villains, tartan tale, fabulous feline…etc…)…

hopefully mac will also realise that the market for .5 skin shades extends outside india and start making them widely available to the rest of us on a regular basis!

yasmine Avatar

Christine, does this mean it will be in all stores now? The top availability says all mac stores and before it said limited distribution…has it changed? Thank you!!

zarina Avatar

OMG thank you! i have been waiting for pictures of these products ever since they announced it. i am totally getting everything!!!! will it be online?!?!?

Ivy Avatar

Thankfully some of us won’t have to wait for summer to be beautifully tanned skin and blonde hair (as the drop-dead gorgeous models and the great Micky Contractor demonstrate) is absolutely not necessary for working this line.

Rita Avatar

I spite of *all MAC locations* promises, this collection is not coming out everywere (like Northern Europe). And as I learned yesterday, this applies also to Stylishly Yours!?!

Sheila Avatar

Hi Christine,
I love this collection! I have been for pics! Thank you so much for putting them up! 🙂 Would you be able to verify which products the models are wearing? Thanks you!!

BrushandBlush12 Avatar

OMG!! The collection looks awesome!! Thank God it is January for international locations! Will be hopefully picking everything up from Duty Free at Heathrow! Can’t wait to try out the corrector! Why is the Studio Fix Fluid NC44.5 LE? that is my current shade of fix fluid now…?

Eyeshadows look gorgeous and so do the fluid lines! In fact…EVERYTHING!

Kim-Mary Avatar

Due to my rant, which I do apologize for Christine & to the rest of my MAC-aholics. I forgot to mention what a beautiful collection this is. I can’t wait to get my hands on everything!!! Hope somewhere down the line MAC will do another collection from another country. 😉

Alexis Avatar

OMG I am doing a HUGE haul on this the day it comes out!! Love it! I’m a light skinned latina with slighly yellow/golden undertones, so this is all me!!!

Annick Chantal L. H. Avatar

MAC will kill me…. how beautiful is this collection …. aahhhhh I am crying……….. My wish-list: Yash and mocha for the lipsticks
Flesh for the lipglass;
Saffron and oomph for the eye shadows;
Ivy and Siahi for the fluidline
I’ve to choose between gana and sur….
So If I add Charm Pale, Stylish Yourth and Mac and Mickey Contractor = no money…………… bankrupt…
Thanks again Christine for this review as usually you do a beautiful job…. and merry Xmas (before the D-day). Joyeux Noël à toutes (merry Xmas all of you, girls).

Eileen Avatar

This whole line is gorgeous … Oomph & Marvel are must haves for me. I think most Indian women are naturally beautiful but when someone like Mickey does their makeup, they often look like some kind of ethereal goddess come to earth to astound us with their beauty!

Krystal Avatar

I wish the two limited edition shades in the quad were available alon! Mac also needs to bring these limited edition foundation shades to their entire line because hello america is pretty diverse and the spanish and asian population (as well as anyone biracial or anyone that tans well), would love to have more color options! Currently I can’t wait to see both blush swatches and I have my eye on the saffron e/s!

ak Avatar

I know. Loads of women NC and NW 40 to 65 would love some .5 colors not just India. It’s crazy to even think of only putting the .5 colors in just that one country alone.

Ivy Avatar

This is so awesome. I haven’t been excited about a MAC launch in years. Is there any possible way of getting a breakdown on what the models are wearing?

Pamela Avatar

I can’t wait to see Saffron! I hope it’s as rich and warm as it looks. I anticipate buying two! I’m wondering if the Sur blush will be similar to Plum du Bois from Cult of Cherry.

Nevaeh Avatar

Hi Christine, Do you know if you can back to mac for any of these items, or if you can use your pro discount? I asked my MA’s and they didn’t even know what collection i was talking about.

Jill Avatar

Christine, can you verify if this collection is available at all counters? I see it is based off your post but we were told in Update that it was only at the Top 22 MAC stores so was just curious. I would love for this to be available everywhere! I need those Fluidlines!

Jill Avatar

This is great news! I was so excited for this collection when we saw it at the MAC Update for Spring but bummed it was only at certain counters. I am looking forward to see it at my counter. Thanks for the reply!

Makavelina Avatar

I am so afraid I am gonna need Marvel and Oomph es…
I only have like 8 MAC items so far (6 eyeshadows, one lipstick and select moisturecover concealer) and I just recently started to discover this MAC limited edition madness… I was watching the website for quite a while now but never really ordered anything.. I am afraid I will fall for this sooner or later 😀
I loooooove that green, can’t wait to see a swatch!

Jennifer F Avatar

This collection is beautiful, the models look stunning. I can’t wait for the fluidlines and that green eyeshadow. The quad is nice too seeing as I don’t have carbon and the blushes look pretty but not sure how they would look on me yet. I look forward to seeing more about this collection.

Sandy Avatar

These photos are lovely Christine, thank you for your post!
Looking forward to seeing the swatches, the Sur blush has caught
my eye. I’m always searching for the perfect pinky brown blush!
Merry Christmas Everyone!

j Avatar

I’m black, but I might have to get one of these concealer shades because I have weird yellow (in the winter) and red (in the summer) undertones and the MAC concealers never match correctly on me!

I am also DEFINITELY picking up those two fluidlines, they look gorgeous and RIGHT up my alley!

Maclover Avatar

I can’t wait for this collection: i was disappointed by the holiday collection, and although i was looking fwd to the other collections that are supposed to come out this month, i’d rather skip em and spurge on pretty much everything (color) in this collection. can’t wait 😀

CiCi Avatar

Christine, I asked my mac store yesterday if they were getting this collection in their store and they told me that they were sure they were not. So is this collection still limited distribution? I’m so angry at mac, this is one a the VERY few collection I’ve been excited about from them and then they go and pull a stunt like this.

Ms Trendy Avatar

This collection was up on MAC PRO this morning (along with Peacocky)… i woke up to the buzzing of email alerts from MAC this morning.

There is also a new serum PREP AND PRIME SKIN BRIGHTENING SERUM

Copied from the website product description:

As every Artist knows, a new formulation can create the brightest new result. Combining Prep + Prime with Brightening Serum for a startling effect brightens over time, minimizes skin discolouration, fades existing spots and prevents future UV damage while hydrating and improving skin resilience.

A serum formulated to instantly brighten, smooth, firm, and hydrate the skin while providing a plumper, more evenly toned finish to the complexion. Natural antioxidants help to strengthen the skin against UV-related damage, while M∙A∙C Charged Water ensures deep, long-lasting hydration.

Makenzie Avatar

i wish there was in nc30.5 ! i am Caucasian, but my heritage is why i have medium toned VERY WARM TONED skin, and this collection, i feel is best for warm skin tones. so glad i didn’t like much from these recent collections, this will take all my money<3

Taylor Avatar

OMG!!! I’m soo excited because my skin is in the shade nc41!
nc42 is too dark for my skin, but nc40 is to light. So nc41 is going to be just right!

Maiden Avatar

I’m so bloody pissed. I was looking forward to try the NC41 foundation as I’m somewhere between NC40 and 42 but Singapore did not bring that colour in. Like????? Anyway I feel the colours for this collection will suit people with J Lo’s and Eva Longoria’s complexions. It did not stand out on me at all and made me look washed out and sick. Very disappointed. The only thing I like are the Fluidlines and the double end corrector.

Ms Trendy Avatar

Temptalia

I was told by the MUA at my local MAC that only FIVE (5) stores in Canada will be getting the collection and THREE (3) of them being in Toronto, Ontario they are:

Eaton’s Centre
Yorkdale Mall
Square One Shopping Centre

I purchased my stash at the Eaton’s Centre store today and they still had ALL the products BUT they are selling fast.

Yaz Avatar

Are these pictures and products lists accurate? The foundations of this collection are not available on the Mac website… what happened? 🙁

izthatmezmerize Avatar

I am so upset at the way MAC handled this collection. They did not think about the consumer when they only chose 22 stores(most of which are in the same state) and they sold out of the best releases of the collection immediately. MAC also never sticks to the release date. I am tired of playing the cat and mouse game with their marketing! Just a lil rant. I love the collection otherwise!

Grace Avatar

In case this is helpful to anyone, MAC’s live chat told me this: Only the following MAC Store locations have launched this collection: South Coast (Costa Mesa, California), Robertson (Los Angeles, California), Armitage (Chicago IL), Union (San Francisco, California), Ala Moana (Hawaii), Hollywood and Highland (Los Angeles), Valley Fair Mall (Santa Clara, California), Forum Shops (Las Vegas, NV), Glendale Galleria (Los Angeles, California), MAC PRO NY (New York), Soho (New York), Tysons (McLean, Virginia), Georgetown (Washington DC), Lincoln Road (Miami FL), and MAC Times Square (New York).

Emily Avatar

Hi I’m new to this website. If anyone is still interested in Siahi, Ivy, Saffron or Oomph they were available again this morning on the MAC website.

Hi, this was a limited edition collection with limited distribution and was only available in Square One and Eaton Centre. As far as I know they are all gone now. You can call the stores themselves and ask. Otherwise eBay or something similar is your best bet. Hope that helps =)
